Excellent vids Matt, I really like that you show the learning curve, so many miss it out to make themselves look perfect but anyone who builds knows you have to cock up and test when learning a new skill. Just got a kit to turn to turn my Stick to a TIG as want to make a radar tower in Stainless Steel for my boat so will be following in the new skill learning footsteps in your vid myself soon! Sure that will entail some slow learning & testing... Keep it up enjoying the vids.
Is it worth putting a smaller tube insert in behind the joins to help strengthen the weld join at the HAZ (heat affected zone) which is generally where it will break if the weld is good? Also a lot easier to weld the thicker stuff, welder by trade and I struggle with ally tig
What make of tube bender is that? About to start turning my old 7.5 ton camper into a trike and a good bender would help. Nice to see you include the learning process, handy for those of us taking notes. All the best.
The bender is a Tubela model 3. nicely built, made in the UK. Link below. If you buy one let them know where you saw it. Thanks for your comments. Let us know how the project goes. www.tubela.com/prod/hand-benders/tubela-model-3-tube-bender
Great to see your TIG experience. I'm still struggling with Ali at the moment but slowly getting there. Yours look much better. Looking forward to the next video 😊
Just a thought could you not insert a tight fitting tube within the tube to be welded the smaller diameter tube within then weld all 3 together adding to the strength of the join-of the tube..any thoughts.anybody? Ps I cannot weld for toffee, so whom I to say but,, keep up the great work.atb
Thanks Daniel. Maybe my bevels are a bit steep, as not visible in the video, and i guess more surface area of the base material to weld to is a good thing.
Excellent vid, very informative and fantastic entertainment.
Thanks Tony
Nice one Matt, keep them coming.
Thanks, will do!

Thanks Dan. I don't have a need right now but i do plan to do some stainless myself. Maybe a new exhaust system for Matilda.
Love this build!! Sweet truck!
Thanks Anth. Lots more to come

I think you are probably right. Something to consider for the future. Going to try ally mig next.
Great video Matt!!
Thanks!

Thanks David. These videos will be weekly.
I'm no welder and never done tig but would a sleeve inside to add strenght be worth while?
Yes it would. Its a good idea.
Filler & paint make me the Welder I ain't! 😉 but seriously looking good, sure you'll be 'time served' by the end of the project 👍
The amount of welding on the boxes i am sure i will be. :)

Will this be your own truck? Or you gonna build it and put it on sale?
This one I am building for a owner. When finished I will build a truck to sell.
you need to bevel the ends of anything you weld so you can layer the material
Thanks Daniel. Maybe my bevels are a bit steep, as not visible in the video, and i guess more surface area of the base material to weld to is a good thing.
Good perseverance. Well done Matt, I can’t weld for Toffee........thinks can you even weld Toffee for that matter?
Thanks. I am determined to master aluminium welding. Its a fantastic material. Maybe Titanium next :)
👍👍
Are you selling Man afterwards
Hi Mike. This one is for a customer. But once finished i plan to build another truck to sell.
