      @@nandhagopalo.s1853 You can spray lacquer over the metal to seal it.

    Love the vlog style of the video. I know it takes a lot of effort to show up in front of the camera, and you nailed it! 👌🏽 and rusting the brackets look sick too!

    Awesome technique! I plan to use this for some architectural trim around my soffit vents. I think that this finish on steel will blend nicely with my western red cedar soffits.
    It might be useful to wash the parts first with soapy water to remove any mill lubricants or fingerprints, for consistency across parts.

    Hah! Nice result. Linseed oil is a time honoured treatment for steel too. I use it on most everything, from exterior brick work (bit of carbon black oxide to tint it), wood both internal and external, copper, concrete, gal steel, corten and raw steel after a suitable period of oxidising. Wonderful stuff, proper wabi sabi look.

      I would use a clear lacquer to seal it off. It darkens a bit though.

  • @jerrywhidby.

    Maybe the solution wasn't saturated with salt yet on the first one? I love corten steel. I would have added to seal the rust with wax paste.

    Do not do this to anything important! It might look nice for now, but unlike Corten, it will keep on rusting. Soon it will look terrible. A little later it will rust completely through, destroying your piece.

    • @DesignCraftWorkshop
      @DesignCraftWorkshop  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks. You can actually seal it with a clear sealer to prevent it from further rusting.
