"10 times the rains came and went." they're in south east Asia. that region experiences a monsoon or rainy season,when it rains almost non-stop for months,every year. So really what bageera meant was that 10 years had past and the boy was now presumably 10 years old. clever way to natralize how the animals keep track of the years,but if you arent familiar with it then it goes straight over your head.

I'm sure they'll look at anyone using their media whether or not it is fair use. I don't know where you came up to the conclusion that what I said implied they should go to prison. Copyright laws and ways of dealing with them are very complex so I don't know for sure. Which is why I said it was a guess - I was only speculating.
"Counting the rains" is an OK way to measure the passage of time because the story is set in India where the seasons are divided into rainy and dry.

I love how Mowgli sounds like an actual kid, but the girl who's pretty much the same age as he is sounds like a full-grown woman. They did that with Clarice in the Rudolph special as well. I never understood that. Did the industry have something against little girls or something? Or did they just want to capitalize on the woman's ability to sing? Either way, it's very distracting.

First, Elsa is 21. That's hardly a "grown woman".
Second, she is voiced by a 45 year old singer. In normal dialogues the voice indeed looks young, but when she sings Let It Go, the voice already is much deeper and totally out of contrast with character's voice.
There is a popular remake, called Fuck it All. It's sung by a properly "young" woman, and while it's obviously not as well-sung as the original, voice-wise it's much more fitting than the film version.

9:00 ... Some bears would be a match for a tiger. A grizzly, for example, would probably be more than a match for a Bengal Tiger in a straight up fight (which is what Shere Khan is). However, Baloo is a Sloth bear. Sloth Bears grow to around 6 feet in length and weigh around 300 lbs, whereas a Bengal Tiger gets to around 9 feet and weighs some 500 lbs. It's no contest.

Actually sloth bears can hold their own in a battle against tigers. They’ve been able to drive them off though it doesn’t happen every time.

The famous "bear vs tiger" debate is irrelevant in this case since Baloo is a non-violent bear whereas Shere Khan is an evil tiger. Baloo doesn't even try to fight Shere Khan, he just tries to hold him back.

Honestly, it depends on what species of bear Baloo is. Sloth bears have been known to *kill* tigers, having the upper hand with a dense pelt of hair and sharp, scythe-like claws. Given that this movie takes place in India and Baloo is not portrayed as a carnivore, it's possible that he is a sloth bear (an insectivore native to the forests of India).

Also Baloo is 1 of 2 types of bear. Either a Sloth Bear or a Moon bear. Both of which get bodied regularly by tigers.

Female elephants actually are the herd leaders. In fact most of the herd is entirely female and only rarely are males allowed in and that's only for mating or if the male is not old enough to be on it's own yet. Typically the leader of an elephant herd is the oldest female and, like I said, males are typically only allowed in when members of the herd are in heat and even then they're not considered part of the herd. There are sometimes groups of males that travel together but their social structure is shit really because male elephants are known to attack and kill just about anything when they have too much testosterone.

Sin Sanity It depends on the slope, the bear won't run so fast it loses control and starts tumbling, but in very dense jungle? A small child might be able to evad the bear, if the child was athletic, and cool headed while being chased by 800 angry pounds of muscle.
Pedro Gomes Bears are actually incredibly fast and you cannot outrun them on any terrain including downhill unless they've been weakened by injury or illness, and even then, if they're well enough to run at all, they can probably catch you. Never try to outrun a bear unless they're still far away and you're close to safety. Spraying them with bear spray can give you some extra time, but that means you have to let the bear get close, so just back away slowly if they're still far away. If they do start charging you and you're too far from safety and have no spray, your best chance is to climb a tree if you can, although some bears might follow, or use whatever time you have to find things you can fight with. You will NOT be fast enough to get away on foot.

Okay, for the rain thing, there's a rainy season which takes up half the year. So that is a perfectly valid form of measurement. In addition to that, the animals wouldn't need to know Mowgli's language. Mowgli was young enough he could just learn theirs. Yes, that operates under the base assumption that all the animals of the jungle speak the same language, but that is not the point you make. Mowgli's naive language would not even be a factor (until the end of the movie. So you should have sinned there, not at the beginning.)

The rains were not an arbitrary way of measurement. Although this has nothing in common with Kipling's Jungle Book the team was at least able to do some of their homework. The description was meant to represent the monsoon season which regularly takes place in India. Apart from that, as a fan of the Kipling work, well done in ripping this version a new one.

Even with a pilot's license, Baloo was still a pretty lazy slob. The whole premise of the show was that he didn't take on enough work to be able to keep making payments on the Seaduck, so he lost his business and had to work for the new owner.

Oh, sorry, I wasn't trying to knock Baloo. I too am a pretty lazy slob. (That might be because I was raised by the television and Baloo was one of my favorite characters.) I'm just saying he didn't exactly clean up his act.
Man, I did love that show! I don't know if it would be better if he was a smuggler though. Wouldn't basically be Firefly, (set in a weird, retro futuristic , anthropomorphic animal populated, ocean world) at that point? I liked the whole small business competing against an international conglomerate aspect.

About the whole tiger vs. bear deal, I think it’s been both verbally and geographically confirmed that Shere Khan is a Bengal Tiger but Baloo is most likely either a Sloth Bear or an Asian Black Bear. In either of these cases Shere Khan weighs about 50% more than Baloo and is basically pure muscle so in that case he wins easily.
However, the original book gives Baloo the title of ”lazy brown bear” and if that is indeed his species (despite being a continent or two away from where he would actually live) the weight-situation is suddenly reversed. But then we need to consider what tools the two of them have at their disposal and that’s pretty hard to decide since brown bears, while their jaws and claws are extremely dangerous, they are made to stock up fat reserves, not to actually hunt or fight whereas a tiger is practically born to rip, tear and maim. A brown bear could potentially win on size alone but I’d sooner put my money on the tiger.
However, if Baloo were a Grizzly or a Polar Bear, he might have a real advantage seeing as a Grizzly could grind a bowling ball to dust with its jaws and polar bears are regarded by some as the ultimate predators because of their well-rounded physiques.
That’s a pretty big IF though so I’d say Shere Khan would fuck and burn Baloo’s world to everlasting misery.

1:45 actually cinemasins, on any other place you would be right. but in india, monsoon winds, which bring storm and rain to the land, are seasonal and predictable. so measuring time in "the rains" is a great way for an animal to know how much time has past.

Well, Balloo is obviously a well known "person" in the jungle and there is nothing strange about Bagheera knowing him, even though they live in different parts of the jungle.
I give a sin to Cinemasins since where they live, they have a rain season and that's about the only real time it rains badly for them to see years. In other ords, the movie was on the "10 times the rain has come and gone" part XD

For sin #7, Shere Khan (the tiger) killed Mowgli's father, but it got burned by the torch he was carrying and ran away without noticing Mowgli. At least that's what happened according to the live action version, which I saw yesterday. No clue if that was part of the original story...
+Zuri Robinson Its not. They are actually a lot different, including the endings. In this version there isn't even a mark on Shere Khan's face hinting at that happening. Also in the version you are talking about that took place in a cave, while mowgli was found in a crashed boat in a river in this one.
Not complaining (because I love the humour and enjoy all the videos whether I like the movies themselves or not) but just to answer your question: No, a bear wouldn't own a tiger. Baloo is a sloth bear and in many confrontations in the wild a tiger will come out on top. Great footage in a documentary of this, think its Spy in the Jungle by Sir David Attenborough. Typically, with the exception (to an extent) of polar bears, the bear family are kinda more bark than bite - they got the balls to stand up to anything but when that thing fights back they soon back down and run.
Bhaloo is a black bear they are smaller bears as compared to himalayan brown bears or, grizzly.
