    Carburetor numbers 4835 and 5229
    This set is sold.
    The Weber 40 IDTP carburetors were factory installed on the 1969-71 911T models. These carburetors were the 4th evolution of the original IDA design that was first installed on Porsche 911 engines as of late 1966. There are 5 main differences between the original Weber IDA and the IDTP series carburetors.
    This set of carburetors.
    This IDTP set is an original set delivered to Porsche. Both carburetor bodies bear the Porsche parts insignia stamped into the front of the housing. This feature is only found on carburetors that were factory installed on the engine at birth. Replacement carburetors did not bear this mark. The bodies are also made in Italy.
    Rebuilding process
    These carburetors have been professionally remanufactured. This started with a full teardown to bare aluminum housings, all studs removed as well as all other components. The gasket surfaces were machined flat. All lead passageway plugs were removed so that all fuel passageways could be manually cleaned.
    After cleaning and machining, the bodies were re-anodized in their original color. The re-used hardware, (studs and some brackets) were re-plated in yellow cad. The velocity stacks were plated in a bright nickel finish.
    Assembly
    After refinishing the carburetors, they were assembled using all new brass jet holders, jets, emulsion tubes, bowl plugs, progression port plugs, floats, and accelerator pump components. A new set of throttle shafts with new bushings and new throttle plates were also installed. The 27 mm chokes that had been modified by a previous owner were replaced with a new set of 30 mm chokes and a matching jet package. Though not completely stock the 30 mm choke and jet package will tend to really wake up the 911T engine. It provides smooth driving with increased upper RPM performance without sacrificing idle quality or low-end acceleration.
    Run Testing
    Both carburetors were set up on the bench before being transferred to our own test engine. The carburetors were run tested and checked for leaks. Both carburetors have been balanced and mixtures set. The accelerator pump circuits have also been fine-tuned to ensure a smooth response from both light and aggressive throttle movements.
    After successfully passing the engine run test and full tune the carburetors have been fully drained of fuel and aired out ready for shipping. In our test engine, we always run a small amount of 2 stroke oil and fuel conditioner in our tank. This helps to lubricate the fuel system internals and ensuring that any fuel however small the amount will not contaminate the freshly rebuilt carburetors.
    Lastly of course the entire rebuild process including the run test has been caught on film. This allows you to see the entire job.
