Which mixer is better for Your MPC ? The Mackie or Tascam Model 12 ..
Great walkthrough man! I was looking at 12 channel mixers but I ended up getting the Tascam Model 16 live looping synths into Ableton.
Thanks man! I am looking to possibly live stream with this one, and record small jams to put up on instagram and facebook. This should give me plenty of inputs for that. The Model 16 looks great. The Model 12 that is coming out looks great too. Curious to see how you use that Model 16. Are you going to put any videos up about it?
@@MatthewStratton Whoops! Forgot to respond here. Not sure I'll be making a dedicated video of the Model 16 since it's just a mixer. Maybe a video on how I integrate it into Ableton.

Can channel 8 be used as an electric accoustic guitar input. Using a 6.3mm to 3.5mm cable.
Question for ya (or any Mackoid who can help me):
I'm in the market to buy the ProFX12v3 Mixer.
I currently have an old Mackie 802VLZ3 mixer that has MUTE button/Alt 3/4 on all the channels and a CONTROL ROOM SOURCE MATRIX that allows you to route Main Mix, Alt 3/4 & Tape to Control Room/Submix Knob. It's a nifty feature that I'm not sure how to replicate with the ProFX12v3.
QUESTION: Can the ProFX12v3 Mixer replicate those CONTROL ROOM SOURCE MATRIX functions and then some?

For sure. I like the size foot print. Should make it easy to move from room to room if I need to. I want to test it out for live streaming and I also want to see if I can record videos for instagram on it into my iPhone and iPad.

I am trying to use the USB. I downloaded and installed the USB driver. My laptop recognizes it and I can choose to use the driver. The mixer’s light move to the music but nothing from the speakers…what settings should I check on the mixer? I am lost. Please help.
Hey Matt! Did you ever keep to the workflow using this mixer or did you move to another mixer? I recall you stating you'd do some follow-up videos on this but none came along. I am sitting on an unopened, brand new Model 12 but worried it might not be enough channels; for same price I can up to a Mackie ProFX16v3, but I'd lose out on all the niftiness the Model 12 brings to the fold. Thoughts?

Stereo or Double Mono In and Stereo out, with Studio one mastering with Pipeline and outboard gear...BEST HOME MIXER HANDS DOWN....for Stem Summing not the best...but becuase I use Studio One and go Double Mono in Stereo out with my analog rack...Ill never use another mixer....its got the richest pure analog sound...outside of Big SiX mixer or Trident.....
Sorry this not really 2020... look @ the cheap mixer Soundcraft ui24r. Has lots more to offer. And can also function has a soundcard 24 in and outputs. And can be used remotely.
Depends on your needs. I know what I want out of it. And I will do follow up videos about it. I have a soundcraft signature 22MTK that can function as a sounds 24 in to a computer. That mixer is over kill for what I want to do with this mixer. Just because a mixer offers more inputs and outputs into a computer doesn't make it better for 2020. Knowing what you want to do and buying the correct gear to fit your needs makes it relevant to your situation. Like I said in the video.
I still need to test it out to make sure it fits what I want to do with it. Thanks for your input.
one thing that confuses me is, when i raise the GAIN knb up top when paying an audio coming in, it doesnt raise the volume. Is that normal? Is gain ONLY for mic? thnx.
gain should bring up any audio coming into that specific channel

Is there an FX return? If not, why is there an FX out?
going to be live streaming so running two trs phono out to xlr on the mixer from a dj mixer, can i use two seperate mike inputs and will my streaming software obs reconise the two channels as one....lol i will also look at two balanced phonos to run from my mixer to the left and right inputs on the mackie one channel maybe.

Is a mixer stil usefull in a home studio? I came from a dealer and they told me that your beter of with a focusright scarlett with more imputs... ? What are the benefits with a mixer compared to these Scarlett interfaces ?
It depends on what you want to do. I am going to use it for live streaming. This way I can pluging my audio interface, mics, and synths into it and live stream easily and have controls like mute easily accessible. If you just want to record your microphone into your software the focusrite may be the better option.
Matthew Stratton for me it should function i my studio to record piano trumpet, bass or guitar but also for life streaming if i want to take lessons with a teacher... i thought a mix panel would be very nice and handy to adjust on the fly but i also heard that you can do this all with an interface...

This mixer won't let you multi-track all four inputs. At most, you will only be able to multi-track two inputs if you pan them left and right to separate them.
How do I stop the echo when I'm recording help....
You're probably dealing with latency.
Try turning the blend knob all the way to the input side, you'll only hear whats going into the mixer at that point, instead of hearing the delayed computer signal "blended" together with the Live sound from the mixer, which may be causing your "echo" while recording.
