I know this video is old, but I just stumbled upon it today. Your detailed instructions are great and made this project so much easier for me to do. Thank you, so much
"THANK YOU... THANK YOU... THANK YOU" .... I saw this done years ago... and now I'm getting ready to go on an Art Tour ... and I wanted to incorporated this method... (I also paint on rocks)... I could NOT find anything on TH-cam... I prayed about this... and low and behold I found you tonight... You are a God-Send... I'm serious you have no idea how much your (Fantastic) Video has meant to me... ;)
Hi Samantha thank you so much for sharing your talent, since watching you I have started adding bible scriptures to tiles and giving them to our friends. God bless you
For Shannon O- I wanted to do the same thing, but feared it would not stand up to the conditions a backsplash endures- and I didn't want the commitment of a permanent installation... So, I found a way to have my cake and eat it, too. I did my backsplash in plain tile, but then I made my printed tile, framed it and used 3M command strip Velcro it to the plain tile behind the stove as artwork! It actually stands out more than it would have, had we grouted it in, plus I can easily change my feature tile. Ta daaa!
Thank you for this tutorial- easy to follow - I've been wondering HOW to and you've answered my question 🙏🏼 Plus - SUPER cute was that sweet little hand trying to get your attention lol 👍🏻
+Carol Baker Thanks and I did forget to mention that you want to use laser or inkjet printer. I have tried a few different methods to dry the ink on a deskjet but it still smudges a tad, so it's not perfect.
82 Day? I love this idea. One of the best. But I don't come close to 82 days for the whole process as you stated it. Still it would not seem like such a wait if I did a couple dozen at a time and then move on and do another craft. Work on some of my regular projects or whatever Thanks for the great video.
Samantha, thanks for sharing, why not use polyurethane spray can and seal it using polyurethane? have you tried this,? I do Woodworking and staircases, and polyurethane works really well and that would speed eh you up your process by 27 days I only take overnight to cure and actually within a couple hours I'm sure but you can't you do this all the time I thought I'd ask and see what your thoughts are. your brother from another mother. PS; is polyurethane dishwasher safe that I don't know although I guess I could call the manufacturer
My concern is that a different faster curing sealer is a good idea. I wouldn't be able to tell a customer from Etsy to wait 28 days before using their coasters.
hi those are beautiful. Did you just print that word on a regular piece of paper with printer ink? Will that work for color prints as well? I would like to do that with some photos I have taken around my house.
Yes, I use just regular printer paper and print them. You can use color as well. Just make sure it's laser or the colors will bleed. If you print the photo in color that would work too, but keep in mind it's going to have a vintage feel about it. I love the vintage look, but not everyone does.
The cheapest printer paper you can find works the best. I never use photo paper. You could print a photo and put it on there. Just make sure you use a laser or inkjet. Deskjet will smudge
Hello, It is awesome work. I tried to follow all steps, but wile removing paper, particles of the image were removed as well. Any advise? I waited for 28 hours. I used Mod Podge is this maybe an issue? Thanks
Can you make a video or comment with step by step instructions on how you make or find the images and print them? How do you make them backwards? Thank you!
I use an editing program to flip mine. Since my computer is always filled with tons of files, I prefer using an online editing program like picmonkey or even lucidpress for flipping, editing, and designing.
Just beautiful! I want to use a sealant for both inside and outside on stone projects.. Is there a sealant you recommend? Is it possible to bake the stone after you remove the paper, let dry and then seal it?.. I am trying to raise money for our church and unfortunately I don't have a month or more for the curing process you shared.
I purchased mine at Home Depot, but I did dig through the tiles. Luckily they let you do that there. Some of mine are smooth and some have that texture to them. Depends on what I'm working with at the time.
Hi, I followed the instructions and used a laser printer. Unfortunately, the wording rubbed off easily with the wet paper. What did I do incorrectly? Thanks
The first set of these tiles/coasters I did was around 6 years ago. So far, the tile and the images on each one, have held strong and just as clear as the first day I applied the images. If, you don't rush this project and take the time to cure the tiles, they will last forever.
Yahya sichilima because of the smooth sheen, you’d probably have to use a primer before you set the modge podge. They sell that in most paint departments. But hobby lobby might have a better option for you.
@@astheygrowup never done anything like this, so wish me luck!! Where is the best place to buy stone tiles? I assume other supplies can be purchased at Michaels or Hobbie Lobbie?
You do run all the paper off, but you can rub too hard in one area and the printing will come off. I've had it happen on occasion. There are times where it seems like there's a light film over it but once it dries some it's not really noticeable.
Hi! Thanks for the video! These look awesome! Do you know if this could work for a tile that would be incorporated to a backsplash? Specifically, behind a stove? Do you think the steam or food/oil splashes would damage it? (Assuming quick cleanup - obviously if I left it baked on it'd be bad!)
I haven't tried it so it's hard to say. I have one that I use in the kitchen that's bigger. I place hot pans on, which does fine as long as you give that time to set. I'd have to give it a try to say for sure.
You can do this with a photo you print on the printer, but it's not going to look as bright. When you do this with a photo, you get more of what I call a vintage look. The photo will be faded and look worn. I haven't found a way around that, but I personally love the vintage look of it. However, I know that look isn't one that everyone loves.
Hi Samantha, thanks for the video. Quick question: I have been doing a few different images on the stone tiles and keep getting the white ghosting from the paper even after I have removed it twice and let it dry and then coat it with the mod poge and also with polyurethane and a couple of other different sealants and keep getting the white film on tiles even after it dries with the coatings. I can wipe it off with a wet cloth and it looks fine and then after a few minutes it starts to come back. Very strange. Don't know if you have any suggestions. I have tried a variety of stone tiles, gels and coatings. I am using color laser prints on basic copy paper. Thanks, Andrew
I've had that happen on occasion, but usually once I put the layer of mod podge over it for sealing, the goes away. I'll look around and see if I can find anything. I'm sorry that's happening. I know how frustrating stuff like that can be :(
Hi Samantha, thanks for the reply. I think it is working better now. I have been trying a bunch of different combinations of tile, paper, gel, sealer, etc. I think the best combo right now is the Bianco Carrara White 4 X 4 Tumbled Marble Tile, your Liquid Gel matte, heavier coated laser printer paper (strange, you would think the lighter weight paper would be better) and Rustoleum Polyurethene for the sealant. It is a matte finish and also the Triple Thick DecoArt Gloss Glaze is good if you want a glossy finish.
I'm so glad you found something that works :) . I forgot all about the Polyurethene for a sealant. I've never used it personally, but a lot of people do use it. That is weird about the heavier coated laser paper. It does seem like the lighter weight would be best. I'm not sure what the weight of mine is, but it isn't too heavy. It's just what I grab up at the store and use for daily printing.
Sorry! I just realized that you are probably extremely weak-minded. It’s not normal to read something and be converted without wanting to be. QAnon believers are very weak-minded, but they want to believe what they read. Your condition must be much worse. There are churches and actual advertising EVERYWHERE. Good luck to you. I can’t imagine how crappy your life must be. 😢
Why doesn’t the ink stay? I followed this video step by step and the end comes off you can’t even get the paper off completely without getting wiping all the ink please help?!!
I'm not sure why your ink is rubbing off. I've never had that happen. I generally just use the cheapest paper. Make sure you're using a laser printer and let it dry completely before removing the paper. The oven works for quick dry, or you can let it set for a couple of days.
It does seal it. The dishwasher safe mod podge does a great job. I haven't left them outdoors for a long period of time to say for sure, but if it can go through the dishwasher once it's had time to set up, it probably would do fine.
I was wondering if you or someone could tell me what I'm doing wrong? I've been trying to transfer a picture onto a stone tablet for a coaster and I've followed the directions and after i have wiped off the paper to revel the image the picture just bubbles and peels up around the whole image. I've tried this like 3 times and I just don't know what in doing wrong :(
Are you making sure that it's completely dry? I put just a thin layer of mod podge on the stone and sometimes a thin layer on the image..I let it dry for 24 hours before I remove it. To remove the paper I always use cold water and rub it over gently. I've never had it bubble up before.
+As They Grow Up I used mod podge and the image barely stays but the matte gel made the image beautiful but that's what's been bubbling up. Ya I let them completely dry over 24 hrs too :/
HELP!!! I used the Liquitex just as you did but I used it on a piece of slightly textured ceramic tile. I let it cure 24 hours and when I rubbed it off, the whole image came off as well. I prepped my tile with alcohol beforehand and let it dry. What did I do wrong? Please help. This was a Christmas gift project. I did use laser copied images as well. :(
Hi Samatha, I would like to sieve your mind, please. My question is it possible to apply a mod pogde image onto an already oil-based or acrylic primed surface? Thank you for your time.

Try water slide decal paper transfer. Much easier!

What type of paper and what type of printer ink or laser?
Thank you from England, just what i needed to know,
You're welcome
goff8128 I
Just love these and thank you so much for sharing this technique. Great Tutorial!
Do you have to use a laser printer
You can also use an old toothbrush to rub the print, as well as a cloth.
What is the image made of, print, ink drawing, or photograph? Does it matter? And will this technique work on concrete? Thanks
Also, this is my question. Can I use the normal printer, ink and paper?
Photograph
Will this work on a glossy tile? Is your image printed on just plain copy paper? If so, did you use an ink jet or a laser printer?
Samantha, thanks for sharing,

just subscribed... may i just know what paper and printer did you use? thanks...
wonderful!...do you know if the printed stone gets damaged (print wise) if designed to live outside even during winter?
Can you use any type of tile?
Is Monterrey rogo tile ok?
Were your images inkjet printouts?
Cool! So you have to wait for it to cure to put heat on it, but can you put cold on it? I want to make coasters for a gift.
Just a quick question, what type of paper did you used to print the text on? Just a normal bond paper or photo paper?
I think you have to use regular paper but laser printed
I always use regular 20 pound laser print paper. If you use photo paper, it will leave you with a smudged mess, lol
can you do these with photos and can you print it on regular computer paper or would it have to be photo paper
The cheapest printer paper you can find works the best. I never use photo paper. You could print a photo and put it on there. Just make sure you use a laser or inkjet. Deskjet will smudge
thanks for replying to both
How do I transfer an actual photo to a subway tile for kitchen backsplash?
Hi, what kind of paper you used for the photo?
Hello, It is awesome work. I tried to follow all steps, but wile removing paper, particles of the image were removed as well. Any advise? I waited for 28 hours. I used Mod Podge is this maybe an issue? Thanks
The first Mod Podge shown was the Luster finish.....not the matte. The matte is in the yellow container.
It was the dishwasher safe, but I have used the regular one too.
How do you flip the words so that they read properly on the tile? Please let me know, I am dying to this project.
You can do this in any photo editor
Can you make a video or comment with step by step instructions on how you make or find the images and print them? How do you make them backwards? Thank you!
I use an editing program to flip mine. Since my computer is always filled with tons of files, I prefer using an online editing program like picmonkey or even lucidpress for flipping, editing, and designing.
Does this have to be a special type of paper?
can we do this on tile instead of stone please?
Hi, I was wondering if i can use this outside all year?
I've never kept them outdoors, so I'm not sure. We use them outside, but usually undercover and bring them in from time to time.
28 days or 82 ? You said both.
Lysdexia....I mean, dyslexia. Lol
for printing the image do we need a special printer for a black and white image? Like yours...
I use just a black and white laser printer for printing and then it's printed on just cheap printer paper.
Can I do this in a glass tile ?
Do you use any certain paper? Photo paper or anything?
Just beautiful! I want to use a sealant for both inside and outside on stone projects.. Is there a sealant you recommend? beautiful tiles, where did you purchase your tiles. The ones I purchased has a smooth surface. I don't think these are the right ones.

I just use my laser printer for printing, and yes I do flip the images.
What kind of paper are you using?
Hi, I followed the instructions and used a laser printer. Unfortunately, the wording rubbed off easily with the wet paper. What did I do incorrectly? Thanks
Also, I dont see the image when it is dry at all. Something missing? Using Matt Gel Cream...
Anyone have any advice on if you can do gel transfers onto slate!?
do you think the same method would work on glass? would i use a glossy mod lodge so that the glass would still be clear or would matte work?
I'm not sure how well it would work on glass. I've never tried it. I have tried it on the smooth tiles and I can't seem to get it to work correctly.
What paper did you use exactly?
Just regular printer paper I picked up at Walmart.
What did you print on? Paper, wax paper, transparency? Laser jet print on ink jet?
Laser printer and I use just printer paper. Even the cheap printer paper works fine.
Where did you find the religious transfer paper in this video?
what type of paper you used for image
for how long would the image last on the tile
The first set of these tiles/coasters I did was around 6 years ago. So far, the tile and the images on each one, have held strong and just as clear as the first day I applied the images. If, you don't rush this project and take the time to cure the tiles, they will last forever.
Just trying to think if this method can also work out on a normally house tile ?
Yahya sichilima because of the smooth sheen, you’d probably have to use a primer before you set the modge podge. They sell that in most paint departments. But hobby lobby might have a better option for you.
Great tutorial.
The Mod Podge you're holding up says gloss but you are saying matte. Is there a difference? I have gloss.
It's a personal preference. I have both I keep on hand and use.
Do you print your image just on any kind of paper and it transfers automatically with the use of mog pog?
I just use regular printer paper.
@@astheygrowup never done anything like this, so wish me luck!! Where is the best place to buy stone tiles? I assume other supplies can be purchased at Michaels or Hobbie Lobbie?
@@johncapannari3892 Good Luck!! I usually get mine at Home Depot. I love when packs are open and I can pick through them and get the ones I want.
@@astheygrowup thanks! Unfortunately our Home Depot doesn’t carry in store. Have to order on line. I did find a local tile shop that has them!🤞
What type of paper are you using, just regular copy paper? Where do you buy the stone tile? Thank you.
Jennifer Bongiorno Homedepot is where you buy it
If I do this on sandstone, will it still absorb water?
Is the photo laser printed or ink jet printed. Also, can this be done on marble?
Where do u get ur gel from? And about how much does it run? When do u choose it over modge podge??? I'm just learning.. Thx for this video..
I actually had to order the gel from Amazon. I use them both interchangeable, but do tend to reach for the mod podge first.
Thank you for the post! Could I use a greetings card for this and put it face down?
I'm not sure with that. I have never tried that method.
hey can anyone help me?
i need to know if this would work with any smooth surface like a smooth finished granite piece or a smooth finished stone
Do I have to rub off the whole paper or should I leave a thin film of paper. I rubbed too much and the printing came off too.
You do run all the paper off, but you can rub too hard in one area and the printing will come off. I've had it happen on occasion. There are times where it seems like there's a light film over it but once it dries some it's not really noticeable.
Nice
Is that a laser print Madam or Inkjet ?
It's a laser printer.
Would this work on metal?
Is that just normal A4 paper, not a special type please?

I'm not sure about that. I've never tried it.
No it does not. I’ve done it. If you want to be cautious spray with a matte Rustloeum after the paint is dry.
Is thete a waterproof/dishwasher safe version that is matte?
You can get the mod podge that's dishwasher safe, and that's what I generally use. However, I've never put it in to see how it holds up.
Where do you buy the stone tile.
what type of paper you use for the print?
I just use the cheap printer paper for it
As They Grow Up Just a regular printer? You just print the photo, sayings, etc to a regular printer with a regular paper? Thank you
so you dont use photo paper you just use regular plane printer paper
can it be use with any paper and printer?
where did you find the transfer paper? can you transfer this to ceramic tiles
It's just regular printer paper. the cheaper the better for this. I haven't tried it on the ceramic tiles.
Oh ok thanks
Is the image on paper ?
What kind of paper do you use?
Hi Samantha - Can this transfer be on any tile or only specific ones?
I personally have only tried it on the stone. I'm not sure how well it would do with the ceramic.

Sorry about that. Didn't realize it said 82 in there. It takes 28 days to cure from the time you put the last seal on it.

Does it have to be a lazer printer copy?
Laser works best because it keeps it from running. Twice I was able to transfer using my inkjet with it smudging.

Is that waterproof to use outdoor ?
It does seal it. The dishwasher safe mod podge does a great job. I haven't left them outdoors for a long period of time to say for sure, but if it can go through the dishwasher once it's had time to set up, it probably would do fine.

can you tell me what website you get images
I purchase some on etsy, but this is a great site as well thegraphicsfairy.com/

I usually just size it based on the tile I'm using. The tiles I'm using on this one, I size my image a little smaller than a 3x5.

I use printer paper
Can you do this with colored images
You can use colored images, just make sure that you don't use an inkjet printer. Those will smudge and run.
Is it Best to get stuff printed off at a store
