    Love those big 5130s and that stumpy claw. They seem to cycle a little slower but have such a mammoth bite with every scoop.

      That makes two of us Russell, I love Canada! I have vacationed there 8 times the last 25 years. More there than anywhere else.
      GOD bless both countries!!!

    The 10 minute mark... after laying on the horn for 20 second, give him a little nudge to get in gear.

      Appears to be a newer truck, operator likely has the windows closed with the A/C blasting and the stereo cranked to the point he can't hear the horn.

    Being slightly ignorant of the really big CATs, - (in the UK we don't have any) can someone tell me what tonnage he is lifting in that bucket, and why he is running on such narrow tracks for such a heavy machine ? - I just love the sound of that engine - it doesn't change whatever he is doing - sheer music to the ears compared to the stuff over here. Love the video - do keep 'em coming.

      std. bucket is 13.7 yards, as far a tonnage goes it all depends on the material you dig. You would need to know how heavy the material is per ton and times that by 13.7

      its about 3000 per yard roughly.

      Awsome! Never got to see the big cats round here in the coal mines always komatsu or Hitachi...I worked around a p&h 4100 in hazard ky. When I first started steam cleanin yrs ago and it was a beast...they had a Marion 8250 which was rare if I'm not mistaken too..

    Bucket too big or is it just slow? Seems slow maybe its just me.

      Actually this is most likely the "normal" bucket for the 5130 and bigger. I've noticed performance on the 5130s on this channel and others. With their girth they seem to cycle a little slower than the smaller excavators. This doesn't look like rocky soil but maybe it was really solidly packed. Sometimes the turbo leaks and doesn't operate as efficiently (of course that should be repaired). Of this style of heavy mass excavators, this is the smaller of its brothers (800hp compared to 1400-1500hp)

      socal clay is a bitch.

    • @jifi-0178
      @jifi-0178 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I've seen clay mixed in with limestone which is nature's version of concrete. It is called "caliche" and you need to hammer it or use various forms of rippers to get that stuff broken up to scoop it. If this soil is anything like that, I understand why the excavator here is struggling a little. Maybe a rock bucket would have been a better choice.

      You must be an "operator"

      Looks like the 26" rock pad version, for the crispy crunchy zones

    • @finishblademan1

      I'm surprised also at how narrow the tracks are on such a large machine............

    • @Gavin84w
      @Gavin84w 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Tracks are fine, why would you want lower ground pressure with wider tracks? The hydraulics then just want to drag the machine to the bucket not pull the bucket to the machine when digging
