I just got mine today and so happy with it. I tried out the index befor this but the clarity on this is insane. I don't seem to have any issues with tracking so far but I've only played 2 games. So far so good. Really happy 👍 thanks for a great startup tutorial.
Same here...Ordered first week in September, still waiting. Last I heard was what I found on HP's website a week ago: Sorry we accidentally shipped them to stores first--Oops. There was nothing to indicate when they might start shipping again in the US. MRTV, do you have any info you can share?

This is a great headset. WMR is great and really simple to setup and use. Thanks Sebastian for showing people how great this product is despite all the prejudices and negativity being spread because of ignorance.
HP Reverb G2, i7-8700, RTX 2080 TI ULTRA Sound & Graphics findings. Having tested the G2 in DCS first and having to reduce SS back down from 1.6 to 1.0 from my RIFT S I was very pleased with the Clarity although it did suffer on MP Server with 30 Players with one having a lag of 320 causing bad rubber banding! Onto Squadrons and I was trying to get my Audio much better. Getting the rear band to surround the curve of my head helped lower it closer to my ears to then adjust the side straps which only needing a stretch to settle in on the velcro. I was very disappointed they still did not come closer to my ears and lacked BASS but after much trying many settings I found I had set ingame to Binaural Headphones which both removed BASS and lowered the volume a lot! So use ingame ENHANCED STEREO for the G2 Audio but also add LOUDNESS EQ in the Audio Hardware>Enhanced Settings to sound amazing!!! This is most likely due to them using the daft Realtek Driver which is well known to alter sound to be "better" but isn't. Before my next full OS install Update to Win 2004 or 2009 I'll do a test to use instead the Windows Default HIGH DEFINITION AUDIO DEVICE Driver which will likely need to be done in Safe Mode so that the old Driver can be totally deleted to not update itself again upon booting. I did this already for my Motherboard Audio and it means you hear Music how it was made to be rather than all getting messed up with extra enhanced high EQ and too much compression. If any of you try this (make backups of your System to be safe) let me know. Graphics Settings needed reducing lots! From ULTRA to just LOW but then raise Ultra Texture Filtering, Shadows High, some others like TA & Ambience Occlusion could also be highest except for when I play Music in the background OR (not tried yet) on Multiplayer it may not like these. However, then I found SteamVR (which this uses to run NOT Oculus SDK but can open it at times...proved by closing SteamVR and game stops!), it has SS Setting of 110% for Each Eye when we select the Custom RES not the Auto Adjust RES Option! So perhaps after I have set this to 100% it should help in Multiplayer. When it gets too over-powered the display goes off briefly! I restored the Profile Default back to 75% in E:\Documents\STAR WARS Squadrons Steam\settings "GstRender.ResolutionScaleVR 0.750000". ALL THESE SS SETTINGS ACCUMULATE! There really so next to no change in quality on the VR Settings from ULTRA to LOW visually. It just makes it smooth and removes stutter. Tracking of HMD is excellent even in the dark without a IR LED however you will lose your Z-Axis doing this (you don't on other headsets). Although you can get it to work for just a short time by starting with a Room Light ON then switching OFF to play in the dark. Any small bedside lamp is ample! This explains why some say they move forward and the cockpit also moves forward. Hand Tracking seems ok as they are lit up so the dark does not affect them. However, on fast games like Beat Saber they are said to not keep up with other makes. I haven't tried as I just sit and sim ;) There is a Setting in the WMR APP in lower left "...", Headset Display>Experience Options to set from default 90Hz to 60Hz which has been said to be no visual difference but will get your settings higher or give you headroom or added fps. Also above this is another feature for Auto Upscalling for Quality or Performance. Plus there is a function in SteamVR to set Developer>Set SteamVR as OPENXR Runtime which adds a 3rd Pre-Frame for where supported e.g. MSFS2020 (like ASW but 3 frames not 2) to be smoother but run at 30fps. I haven't tried all these settings as I've always prefered actual frames personally. The changing to Desktop can get buggy due to SteamVR conflicting but best to set an option in WMR to use the WIN+Y even though it already suggests you to use it. ALT+TAB doesn't get your Mouse to Focus on the Desktop otherwise! Hope this helps you out. I am thrilled with this VR device after much tribulations. o7 * I found I need 60Hz for Elite:Dangerous in Combat Hazres and VR LOW only to rid stutter!!
For anyone having trouble removing the battery covers from the controllers and are afraid of damaging the controllers, then you're not alone. They are difficult to remove. I found that by moistening my thumbs then dabbing them on a towel and holding the controller with the ring resting gently on my stomach (be careful not to strain the ring) and using my thumbs to push away from me (towards the base of the controller) I eventually was able to remove the cover. You may need to try this several times, but trust me it does work and you are not damaging anything. I use the rechargeable batteries and charger Sebastian suggested and they are very good, I live in New Zealand and I got them from Amazon. Very good video Sabastian (as usual, in fact I used your channel for most of my information on the HP Reverb G2).
Just got mine today. Not a single mention of the controllers in the box, that they even need batteries, or how to install them. Would have been nice if that were mentioned in this video. Pressing the windows button does nothing if there's no batteries in there.
Great video Sebastian! But I kind of wish you showed the floor calibration process (still waiting on my preorder so I can't see it for myself). How does the floor calibration work? Do you really have to set it by guesstimation by eye like Rift CV1? Or is it pretty good at guessing the floor position automatically? Or is it like Vive/Index/Quest where you use the controller to set the floor level precisely?
Eagerly awaiting for my g2 to arrive, It will be primarily for Sim racing, just wandering how will I go about switching to other games? Will I have to set room scale up away from my simrig then turn off guardian when I'm racing?
Hi, how can I disconnected the vibration on the controls? I have a rx580 and I can't run at 90hz only at 60hz, I already did all the updateS for my GPU but still not working properly. HELP PLEASE!
Hi Sebastian, see the comment I just posted. ie. There seems to be a general lack of "Getting Started" guides for VR Apps / Games in general. Perhaps you could consider making a series of guides for new / first time users, for some of the more popular Apps & Games.
I am in between the Oculus Q2 and the HP G2. I have seen the advantages of the HP G2 in gaming. Is there a video to see what features pros/cons for using the G2 in an office environment (WFH) One item that i liked about the Q2 was the infinite office space. Is there something like that for the G2? (sorry i am looking at buying my first headset)
I believe it's important to mention that you must go into the SteamVr settings and change the default resolution settings per eye for users with older gpus. SteamVr does not correctly set this value. On my pc it defaults to 3160x3096 per eye which is above spec for this headset (SteamVR supersampling). You must decrease the slider to around 50% or at least decrease until the resolution is close to that of the HP Reverb G2 of 2160x2160 per eye. Otherwise, you may have problems running games at steam's default resolution especially with older GPUs like the 1080ti. However, the 1080ti is more than capable of running this headset at full resolution of 2160x2160 per eye.
I am so happy to see that you are succeeding with TH-cam. I have been subscribed tp your channel since your early beginnings, back when you were worried about not being able to do TH-cam full time, Again, I am so happy for you that you made it. :) I do music with a smaller channel, but am blessed to not need the small income from my small channel, and just do it for a break from doing my professional music work. I own both the Reverb G2 and the Quest Pro, and really appreciate your VR knowledge. Keep up the good work. :)
6:01 in the video I would like to readjust my space area however, when I go back to headset up guide I get as far as pairing the controllers, then learn your controllers, and then it just exits out....
This is ridiculous i get to 4:49 there is no next icon i have updated all my drivers even windows update also installed steam VR and Windows mixed reality All of the requirements are cheched and valid but that is it I cannot go any further and there is no errors have been all day trying to get this to work really frustrating any help will be appreciated and also is any drivers needed as it never came with any.
Still waiting for mine here in Wisconsin USA. I ordered mine at the beginning of September. I called HP connect customer support today and they told me it is supposed to ship out within the next two weeks. The guy also said they have been getting a lot of returns because of dead pixels, dead speaker on the headsets, Instantly breaking clips for the cable management. Hopefully these are rare occurrences though. Great and informative video as usual!
Great short video for new users. I'm a new user with my G2, so I've had to figure this all out, as there doesn't seem to be many getting started guides. But it's also frustrating that there seems to be a lack of "Getting Started" guides for many VR Apps & Games. eg. My first experience with Pavlov VR wasn't good. I couldn't find which G2 controller button combination to bring up the menu, then I couldn't unholster my gun (so got stuck in teh tutorial). It took me a while to figure out I needed to change controller bindings (controls seem to default to Oculus?), something I still haven't found in any "Guide". Intro and review videos all seem to start off sucessfully running around in the game. ie. No actual "Getting Started" guide. Similar experience trying to get started with other games. I think so far Alyx has been the easiest game to get up and running with on the G2. Even Beat Saber had me initially stumped when I went into "Solo" on the menu, and there was no "Play" button? Seems I needed to go into Campaign to "Play" solo. So I guess the Solo menu is just a settings menu? I dunno, couldn't find any guide. LOL
Hi Greg, thanks a lot for the comment! This inspires me to do another video about controller bindings! You are right, basically the user is on his own. It's terrible and not user friendly at all!
@@mixedrealityTV Yes, as a new VR user, it worries me that the lack of getting started guides and resulting new user experience frustration may be one of the biggest hurdles to VR really taking-off to the next level. I waited years following VR progress until the G2's visuals finally tipped the balance for me to finally jump in. I suspect the G2 and Q2 will be the entrance for a whole new generation of new VR users, so now is very timely to put together a good YT series of getting started guides! I think this would also boost your channel as the place to go for new VR users! Keep up the great work. :)
Do you know if the setup and usage with SteamVR games is possible without the controllers? I want to buy the Reverb G2 without controllers, because I never use them in sim racing.
Please Sebastian, make a video teaching how to activate the motion reprojection on Steam for WMR. It can help a lot of people with problems with smoothness in games.
Hi Sebastian, thank you for all your videos. Can you please make a detailed video explaining the sweet spot, because my impression from your previews was that it was very big, but I find that on the G2 it's quite small. My previous VR headset was a CV1. Would be helpful if you could put the sweet spot in context and explain where the boundary is before things start to get blurry. Seems like there is a disconnect between what reviewers are saying and what people like myself are actually seeing.
The question remains is it possible to open the internet browser in the cliff house, and check things like mail? I believe a nice user interface is very important, just like in the early days with the Samsung gear vr where you had everything beside games, like access to settings, socials and internet - it was great right up to the point where Facebook shut Oculus down..
please help me i feel so sad , i have rtx 3070 & i9 10900k with 16 ram , everything good with reverb g 2 but when i try to play Microsoft flight simulator 2020 it crush i set everything in default and i put the resolution under 50% but still crushing ,, bth i updated my pc to windows 11 !!
I personally don't have much experience with other platforms other than WMR. I have Lenovo Explorer WMR headset, that I bought already some years ago. And I think WMR software is total garbage. That alone makes me hesitant to upgrade to G2. It constantly forgets the room setup, so almost everytime you want to play, before you must crawl sideways the room perimeter like a crab on a chain. It's window with the Cliffhouse popups whenever you plug or unplug the headset, or updating drivers, or even just when it thinks by itself that it's a good idea to mess with your work or game at the moment. So it's a good idea to keep the headset disconnected from USB port when you're not playing. Steam not always sees the WMR app, so it's quiet frequent situation when the game runs somewhere, but you are sitting in the Cliffhouse without a way to switch to the game, because steam thinks that there is no headset present in the system. Helps only shutting down WMR app and SteamVR services by force thru Task Manager and trying again. Every time you finish your play session and exiting the game, wearing off and shutting down the headset, SteamVR services wouldn't be unload and will continue to eat system resources including GPU at 5-30% depending of the graphics card you have... And the list of problems may still go on. Mostly all this isn't something critical that may be a deal breaker by itself, but all this at the same time? At the time I bought my headset, VR was something new and I thought it's a child's illnesses and will be fixed in time. But the time passed and nothing at all has changed. Too bad that there is no alternative. Index is too expensive and Quest2 is a product from Facebook that I'll never buy or even use for free.
still having weird issues with mine. the headset tracking itself. keeps going into random barrel rolls while the controllers then teleport around every now and then. using a textured blanket on the ground rather than my carpet helped a little bit but its still bad. my room is fairly small but got two lights above and curtains closed. EDIT: Tried setting up in the lounge, worked perfectly. Not sure why it hates my room. Too small maybe? Bare in mind it some rooms wont work then!
I'm not sure how I did it (or even if I did it), but a small window magically appeared in me WMR cliffhouse for the "SteamVR" App. So now I can literally just switch on my Reverb G2 USB power supply, put on the headset, and point at / select the SteamVR App launcher (in the cliffhouse), and I'm up and running, all without even touching my PC. Yes, some getting started guides would be good around all this magic stuff. :)
I have a 3080TI graphics card which has 3x displayport and 3x hdmi outputs. The displayport outputs are occupied by the connected 3 monitors. one hdmi output is occupied by the 4th monitor. 2 hdmi outputs remain free. is there any way to connect hp reverb g2 to graphics card via hdmi? I ask because I don't want to disconnect my 3 monitors every time I want to use VR. thank you very much for your answer.
How good is the sweet spot, as in if you adjust the IPD down, how far can you go from your IPD before it bacomes uncomfortable or not clear? I'm asking because my IPD is larger than 68mm. For example if you reduce it 6mm from your IPD, is it still ok to use?
Hi all! I really have a hard time on my G2. Is it mean I shouldn't start the game in the SteamVR cliffhouse? This is the first time I use VR; I can ONLY start & play ApolloVR HD, Star Wars squadron by click these game on the wall of SteamVR cliffhouse. However, when I tried to start Elite dangerous, Everspace, Creed , Rise of the Tomb raider...etc. Elite dangerous showed the loading screen & suddenly HMD screen gone blue & black out. I found the steamvr, windows mix reality portal crashed & restarted. Everspace, Creed , Rise of the Tomb raider showup the in game menu but once I move my head/my joypad suddenly HMD screen gone blue & black out. I found the steamvr, windows mix reality portal crashed & restarted. Are these issue due to my method to start game?
I didn’t just get my shiny new G2. Instead I got another email saying how excited HP is that the demand is so high for the G2. It’s also informing me for the third time I’ll be getting my G2 before the end of the month. “For the third time, for the third month in a row. It also says if I placed my order after Oct 27th i won’t be getting my G2 till next year. Thank god I placed my order early September right? How many weeks are left in this year?
You need to do a video on controller bindings before people lose their minds, there isn't much info on TH-cam or Steam, tried a few in Fallout VR that I didn't like, could have learned how to create my own but I just wanted to get in the game so just connected my O+ controllers.
@@AdityaPrasad007 tracking is okay, I haven't played beatsaver but in other games the tracking has been fine except for when it is moved out of the cameras view which is expected. I did have some issues with the usb not working sometimes but since I got a usb pcie extension card it's been fine.
First time VR owner here, my G2 arrived this week. So far I'm a bit underwhelmed, specifically I feel that there is only a very small central section where focus is (very) clear. When moving my eyes (not head) only slightly off centre the picture is blurred, so much so that I'm surprised i haven't found much discussion of it. But I don't know if: 1) my physiology doesn't suit VR, 2) the G2 is indeed defective or 3) this is actually as good as it gets. Can anyone relate to this?!?
Hi thanks - yes I have used the IPD slider and it does make a difference. Even in the "best" position however I feel that looking even slightly off centre is blurry enough to warrant discussion. Presumably for most people you can glance around your field of view and everything is still clear?
I agree. The sweet spot was quite a bit smaller than I expected - especially vertically. Having said that, I am now used to moving my head around instead of my eyes so the focus stays crisp. I also find I have some days with great tracking, and some days with poor tracking...
When I hear reviewers they usually say that the sweetspot is quite good compared to other headsets. I don't have my G2 yet, so I can't compare. I do have a Rift S and had a Rift CV1. The Rift S had a much larger sweetspot than the CV1 and I was quite content with it. Didn't really notice blurryness outside the middle (only on the outher edges of the screen a bit). Also, in my experience the height of the headset is also really important. Usually, the headset dropped down a bit during a playsession which also causes a blurry screen.
I like the transparency on your videos, none of that "let me know what you think" bullshit. You ask for comments to boost engagement to help with TH-cam's algorithm. Seems fair. Here's a comment ;)
Mine should hopefully arrive next week. I have a question though: since I only bought the G2 for DCS, I preordered the version without controllers - I have no need for those. But can the setup process be completed without controllers? I didn’t see a ‘skip’-button...
Mine was dead on arrival. I contacted HP and they told me I had to wait another 1 to 2 months. I will not wait after this major letdown. The oculus rift S is on sale for €350. Have a back up plan.
No...still waiting for mine ordered late October..but since bots/scalpers are doing an Invasion on anything i guess ill receive mine next summer......just like my 6800XT -_- i hate this year so much.
Hey my friend can I use Reverb g2 on Apple retina laptops with display port to use this pcvr as a second monitor only to watch my own movie from the hard drive of this same apple laptop?
RTX 1660 super?? please, answer this, how well the 1660 super does with the G2? I have a Radeon 590 and my G2 is about to arrive en les than 10 days, my intentions are to start DCS in VR.
Great tutorial MRTV ! Do you know where to adjust the scale? I just got mine and in a car i definitely feel the steering wheel is smaller and the size of the cockpit in general. Any tips?
Thanks for this video - I ordered my G2 based on one of your previous videos I got my G2 today and I must say I'm a bit disappointed. 1. As I have an AMD X570 motherboard (Gigabyte Aorus Elite) - I had the same problem as all the other AMD users. The G2 didn't work on an USB port on my PC, but it did work when plugging in the USB cable in my USB hub (DeLock powered 7 UUSB hub) 2. The setup of the controllers didn't go as described, I had to use the manual pairing. 3. Clarity: The text is kind off blurry if not looking directly ahead. Any tips on how to improve this?
@@wafer2582 Not everyone is experiencing it. It won’t work using usb-c or adaptor for me. I’ve been troubleshooting it since I got it 2 weeks ago. A hub worked but started giving drops in audio causing game stutters and crashes. The Reverb G2 discord and subreddit are full of people having the same issues.
@@kimefilm The USB disconnect issue seems to only be effecting new Intel and AMD chipsets X570 and Z490 and the lower "H" versions of these. I'm on an MSI Z490 MAG Tomahawk and having the same problem. Solved by using the USB C port on my 2080ti. New NVIDIA cards removed this port due to the high power requirements of the video memory on the 3000 series cards. Not sure about the new AMD 6000 cards. The other fix I've seen that works reliably is to use another PCIe board that adds USB 3/c ports. But if you're already using a PCIe wifi adapter, this may not work since you may be allocating to many PCIe lanes. This won't be as big a problem for AMD CPU's since they typically allow for more PCIe lanes. I'm using a 10900k that you'd think would have more but tops out at 16 lanes :(
Hi, I was wondering if you could do a through the lens video for Assetto Corsa Competizione with the Reverb G2 headset. This game is known to be very demanding performance-wise and I'm looking at buying a RTX3080 to support the G2. I'm wondering how it will run and how it will look.
Is it possible to avoid the WMR cliffhouse completely and use only steamVR to increase performance? doesn't make much sense to have it running in the background if I rarely use it other than to open desktop.
Great thanks. Ordered on Amazon today in UAE. Arriving tomorrow apparently. Had to wait a while for stock but surprised with the delivery time once ordered.
Thanks for the tutorial, but I’m having an issue with my g2: I seem to be having some stability issues. While using the headset both in game and in lobby areas, I frequently see the volume jump to different levels and occasionally cut out all together for a few seconds. I’ve also had the right earphone either have crackling audio or stop working completely. A final issue I’m having is that the games and audio freeze occasionally. Are there any workarounds for this? Side note: It seems that windows mixed reality and steamvr do not work seamlessly with each other. Should only one be used at a time? Thanks
Eventhough I have experience with other headsets I understand that this one has some quirks regarding installation, setup and in-game settings so it was helpfull nonetheless (because now I know it's not that big of a deal at all, only the installation of WMR for steam is extra). Thanks!
Still waiting for mine to arrive back from HP for a replacement due to audio problem. Estimated date: 12/31. And this is from someone who preordered back in August. It was great while it lasted. Maybe I should have waited to send it in.
Does WMR have a "guardian" system with walls that appear when you get close to the edge of your play area? If so, is there a way to disable it? I find it to be very immersion breaking so I always turn it off. On SteamVR you have to manually edit a settings file since you can't do it from within SteamVR (you can disable the wall form within SteamVR, but not the floor outline...for that you have to edit a settings file). In Oculus you can just BS it by drawing your play area ridiculously large. But I've never used WMR.
Hi Sebastion, You've had the G2 for quite awhile now, is it your favorite VR headset with its high resolution? Or do you prefer a different brand and model? I'd love to know! I finally got around to ordering the Reverb G2 VR Headset! Probably a good thing I waited so long because I ordered it Monday and it will arrive tomorrow, on Thursday! So no long frustrating wait period! At least, not supposed to be, but then it's not in my hands yet either so anything is possible! Brings to mind the old saying about not counting your Reverb G2's before they hatch! Or something like that. Thanks for the setup video!
Talk about good timing, mine arrives tomorrow! A question though, I have my playing area behind the PC not in front. Will the boundary setup still work?
When I took it out of the box I had a lot of problems it was just black until I followed a troubleshooting video, I've only had it two days on the first-day Steam VR home was all wobbling all over the place I just turned the visuals down to medium to sort this out, later I turned them up again and all was fine, so I played HLA then I plugged back in my Index just to check the difference TBH I don't see that's it's such a big upgrade from the Index!
Thanks for the video. I followed all your steps and I got my HL Alyx up and running. Everything works well, except on thing that I have no idea what cause it. Here's the issue..... Evey object I hold in my Right hand in Half Life Alyx when release the trigger the object fall on the ground. But not the same with my Left hand - when release the trigger of my left hand, the object I hold instead of falling on the ground it disappeared from my hand (goes very fast in a random direction, mostly behind me) and bounce the walls. So I can't throw anything with my left hand and if I drop a bullets magazine that I have in my left hand is lost, since mostly I can't find it - it just goes very fast in random direction. Right hand most of the time works ok when dropping something - but I can't throw anything with it - everything goes mostly 1-2m in front of me. If I through by as I would throw in real life the object just fell on the ground like there's no force to throw it away in the direction I want. Everything else works well but I can't throw things... Please Help!
To be honest I worked almost all of this stuff out just by fumbling my way through the intitial setup. Good video though, I'm sure it will help some people. I'm glad you showed where the power socket for the breakout box is though, it took me about 20 minutes to find where I was supposed to plug the power cable into! Also, have you taken the plastic off the breakout box yet? I don't think you're supposed to leave it on. In general the G2 is working well for me. I haven't had any of the tracking problems some other people are talking about even when occluding one of the controllers, as is done when holding a rifle-style gun.
I have a gtx 1070. It's a bit confusing for me still. Should I start with 100% for steam vr in the general tab and then lower the & per app or should I start with 50% in the general setting and then adjust the per app SS higher or lower depending on the app?
Can you help explain the Video settings inside Steam for the resolution when using the G2? It gets confusing when the numbers don’t match what we would expect. Then games like Squadrons might not perform as expected even with auto settings for VR. Thanks Seb. You are awesome! Cheers
@MRTV Thanks Sebastain. Just got my G2 today and sure enough the plug in the unit didn't seat completely and had to hunt for a USB port and that fixed it. I thought the UPS folks played Football with it at first. Good looking out for the community bro!
Really need to go over what is required to get the best out of this performance wise.. I have a 2070 Super with i59400f and only get 45fps on iracing at the best that’s if it doesn’t cut out

After all those menus and an hour of actual gaming I have a bit of eye strain.
I haven't tried as I just sit and sim ;)
There is a Setting in the WMR APP in lower left "...", Headset Display>Experience Options to set from default 90Hz to 60Hz which has been said to be no visual difference but will get your settings higher or give you headroom or added fps.
I am thrilled with this VR device after much tribulations.
o7
* I found I need 60Hz for Elite:Dangerous in Combat Hazres and VR LOW only to rid stutter!!
Wow this worked brilliantly, I didn't even need to wet my thumbs, It was a wright pain in the arse before, thanks.
Just got mine today. Not a single mention of the controllers in the box, that they even need batteries, or how to install them. Would have been nice if that were mentioned in this video. Pressing the windows button does nothing if there's no batteries in there.
Was that tutorial helpful for you? Do you still have any questions?
This channel is underrated
I believe it's important to mention that you must go into the SteamVr settings and change the default resolution settings per eye for users with older gpus. SteamVr does not correctly set this value. On my pc it defaults to 3160x3096 per eye which is above spec for this headset (SteamVR supersampling). You must decrease the slider to around 50% or at least decrease until the resolution is close to that of the HP Reverb G2 of 2160x2160 per eye. Otherwise, you may have problems running games at steam's default resolution especially with older GPUs like the 1080ti. However, the 1080ti is more than capable of running this headset at full resolution of 2160x2160 per eye.
does steam res = both eyes lens combined or is it per lens ?
@@greyraven9164 In the steamVR settings the resolution setting is per eye (lens).
@@brothamane8747 thx
I am so happy to see that you are succeeding with TH-cam. I have been subscribed tp your channel since your early beginnings, back when you were worried about not being able to do TH-cam full time, Again, I am so happy for you that you made it. :) I do music with a smaller channel, but am blessed to not need the small income from my small channel, and just do it for a break from doing my professional music work. I own both the Reverb G2 and the Quest Pro, and really appreciate your VR knowledge. Keep up the good work. :)
Thanks so much!
so wholesome!
Can you install easily without the controllers? (Getting the headset only, as only play Elite VR with a Hotas)
Still waiting on mine. Going to immediately hook up my index controllers after then get revive connected. Then I'll be done.
I just got my G2 on Christmas Eve! HP Connection was totally clutch.
So excited - just picked this up for 225$ on ebay great condition - if you want one nows the time plenty for 200-300 on ebay!
HP is selling new ones for $299 now(11-19-22), at their web site.
Great video - thanks, now finally got my G2 and very happy with it overall.
I just ordered an HP Reverb G2. Thanks for the help with setup!
You are welcome!
I literally have had my g2 set up for a week I just wanted to make sure I didn't miss anything lol. Great video Sebastian!!
I have been with 1.2V batteries for over half a year now. Thanks for letting us know.
Do you know if the setup and usage with SteamVR games is possible without the controllers? I want to buy the Reverb G2 without controllers, because I never use them in sim racing.
Thank goodness for this video- I was lost trying to set up this hp reverb G2. I didn't even know how to plug it in haha
I do not even have it yet but I want to be prepared so I can get into VR even quicker lol
Please Sebastian, make a video teaching how to activate the motion reprojection on Steam for WMR. It can help a lot of people with problems with smoothness in games.
You are right!
My G2 is on the way and this channel is just what I was looking for. Subbed!
I just got mine, only took about a month! Thanks for the tutorial!
Thanks for the help! I look forward to playing some great games with my new headset!
Is it likely for an update to ignore the batteries being 1.2v? I don't have and can't find 1.5v rechargeables
amazon has plenty
Hi Sebastian, thank you for all your videos. Can you please make a detailed video explaining the sweet spot, because my impression from your previews was that it was very big, but I find that on the G2 it's quite small. My previous VR headset was a CV1. Would be helpful if you could put the sweet spot in context and explain where the boundary is before things start to get blurry. Seems like there is a disconnect between what reviewers are saying and what people like myself are actually seeing.
4:05 nothing happens when i plugin the G2.
You just saved me hours of frustration and wasted time! Danke sehr!
please help me i feel so sad , i have rtx 3070 & i9 10900k with 16 ram , everything good with reverb g 2 but when i try to play Microsoft flight simulator 2020 it crush i set everything in default and i put the resolution under 50% but still crushing ,, bth i updated my pc to windows 11 !!
I just received my G2 today from Amazon HP Store but it still says Rev.1 when I heard they had Rev. 2 out? Have I been sold older version?
Can you demonstrate the correct way to put the headset on to get the best image quality and wearing comfort?
Just bought the Reverb G2 Omnicept Edition, hopefully this video applies the same setup
awesome G2! I love the cliffhouse. You can put shortcuts to all your games in it.
you can? good to know thx
So I got a shipping confirmation, it's currently at the local DPD depot and is going out for delivery tomorrow. Can't wait!
Damn, I really hope you get it now. Really bad launch :(
Glad you did this for people having any trouble...Is there any other program that can be used from the desktop without going through SteamVR?
You need to do a video on controller bindings before people lose their minds, there isn't much info on TH-cam or Steam, tried a few in Fallout VR that I didn't like, could have learned how to create my own but I just wanted to get in the game so just connected my O+ controllers.
Great timing, my g2 just arrived today
Perfect!
How was your experience using the G2? Played beatsaber? Tracking is fine?
@@AdityaPrasad007 tracking is okay, I haven't played beatsaver but in other games the tracking has been fine except for when it is moved out of the cameras view which is expected. I did have some issues with the usb not working sometimes but since I got a usb pcie extension card it's been fine.
@@Jord38 ok so no regrets...
Have you adjusted the ipd setting to your ipd (distance between your eyes)? If not, a wrong ipd setting can make things very blurry.
Do I have to remove all other monitors from the adjacent Display Ports on my graphics card, or can I still leave them in?
I like the transparency on your videos, none of that "let me know what you think" bullshit. You ask for comments to boost engagement to help with TH-cam's algorithm. Seems fair. Here's a comment ;)
Thank you!
Great video covering the basics in one place.
Mine should hopefully arrive next week. I have a question though: since I only bought the G2 for DCS, I preordered the version without controllers - I have no need for those. But can the setup process be completed without controllers? I didn’t see a ‘skip’-button...
the mouse will take over the work of the controllers for setting things up. i have ran without the controllers on and you can get around just fine
@@mangamonsta7465 great, thanks for the confirmation. I also heard XBox controllers work just fine in WMR, and I have one of those.
How was your experience? Any tracking issues?
No issues at all, provided the lighting in the room is adequate and there’s enough contrast in the area the headset will be pointing at.
@@Elysian_Angel_ great will look out for that...

Great information, thanks for breaking it all down! Excited to get my new G2!
hi sebastian, I've read a few places that say the G2 requires a powered usb adapter. do you think I'll need one?
Hey my friend can I use Reverb g2 on Apple retina laptops with display port to use this pcvr as a second monitor only to watch my own movie from the hard drive of this same apple laptop?
Great video . Finally got my shipping advice today so will be ready to go when it arrives - thank you!
Any tips?
Thanks for this video - I ordered my G2 based on one of your previous videos
I got my G2 today and I must say I'm a bit disappointed.
1. As I have an AMD X570 motherboard (Gigabyte Aorus Elite) - I had the same problem as all the other AMD users. The G2 didn't work on an USB port on my PC, but it did work when plugging in the USB cable in my USB hub (DeLock powered 7 UUSB hub)
2. The setup of the controllers didn't go as described, I had to use the manual pairing.
3. Clarity: The text is kind off blurry if not looking directly ahead. Any tips on how to improve this?
1. a bios update is required. no problems on my b450 based system.
3. ive found that i wore it to low at the beginning.
i hope all is resolved now
You missed the step where you have to deal with endless USB connectivity issues, haha.
I wonder why he hasn't mentioned this. At all.
no usb issues here, I'm using USB C, not the adaptor
@@wafer2582 Not everyone is experiencing it. It won’t work using usb-c or adaptor for me. I’ve been troubleshooting it since I got it 2 weeks ago. A hub worked but started giving drops in audio causing game stutters and crashes. The Reverb G2 discord and subreddit are full of people having the same issues.
I had heard this was exclusively an x570 /AMD thing, but are there other chipsets with the issue?
Hey thanks so much for your informative video! My g2 arrives tomorrow :D
Thanks for the tutorial, but I’m having an issue with my g2:
I seem to be having some stability issues.
Thanks
Hi Sebastian, thanks for the video. I have a very important question. I noticed your t-shirt, how do you rate the Disney Star Wars trilogy?
Informative, to the point vid, thanks very much! Always enjoy your videos! Purchased those batteries too.
Did they change the pair button that used to be inside the battery compartment of the old controllers? That's how I would put them in pair mode.
No need anymore, they are pre-paired!
It is still there though in case you need it for something.
My experience is 69 days from pre-order to arrival. Thank you for the tutorial and all the other content.
great video, I'm getting this soon!
Can I share DP slot with another monitor cause all four has been used?
how to setup this headset on a laptop with no DP port ? I tried using USB-C /thunderbolt to DP 1.4 but didn't work. Please any help ?
Eventhough I have experience with other headsets I understand that this one has some quirks regarding installation, setup and in-game settings so it was helpfull nonetheless (because now I know it's not that big of a deal at all, only the installation of WMR for steam is extra). Thanks!
Still waiting for mine to arrive back from HP for a replacement due to audio problem. Estimated date: 12/31. And this is from someone who preordered back in August. It was great while it lasted. Maybe I should have waited to send it in.
Hello, the tutorial was wonderful and made for an easy setup. The image I see is out of focus. How do you focus to make it crisper?
Does WMR have a "guardian" system with walls that appear when you get close to the edge of your play area? If so, is there a way to disable it? I find it to be very immersion breaking so I always turn it off. On SteamVR you have to manually edit a settings file since you can't do it from within SteamVR (you can disable the wall form within SteamVR, but not the floor outline...for that you have to edit a settings file). In Oculus you can just BS it by drawing your play area ridiculously large. But I've never used WMR.
Yeah you can just skip the guardian set up, I don't have it enabled. You just select the 'Set me up for seated and standing' option when prompted.
@@Fuzzy810 Good to know, thanks
Also, in the Mixed Reality portal settings you could disable it.
Thanks for the setup video!
thank you for this tutorial, i'm going to buy the reverb g2 next jan ;)
Display and audio are fantastic, but tracking is pretty bad compared to oculus and valve. I returned mine
You will have a great time. And tracking, while not as good as Index and Oculus, is still good and gets the job more than done.
Thanks. Got my G2 today and using a VR headset for the first time. Good to know we don't have to launch through the cliff. Nice view though! :D
Did you play beatsaber how was your experience?
thanks how do you take the headphones off?
Great vids on the G2...offhand anyone know if there is a workaround to get Everest VR working on the G2? I ended up returning it(Via Steam)
I'm so goddamn excited for my g2
Can you help explain the Video settings inside Steam for the resolution when using the G2? It gets confusing when the numbers don’t match what we would expect. Then games like Squadrons might not perform as expected even with auto settings for VR. Thanks Seb. You are awesome! Cheers
@MRTV Thanks Sebastain. Just got my G2 today and sure enough the plug in the unit didn't seat completely and had to hunt for a USB port and that fixed it. I thought the UPS folks played Football with it at first. Good looking out for the community bro!
Do you know if there are any good VR indoor bike sims for HP headsets?
Really need to go over what is required to get the best out of this performance wise.. I have a 2070 Super with i59400f and only get 45fps on iracing at the best that’s if it doesn’t cut out
My first day with mine today coming from a Rift CV1 so Steam was ready apart from the WMR software/drivers, WMR for steam and Revive to bring the Oculus games into Steam. After all those menus and an hour of actual gaming I have a bit of eye strain. Is there an accurate way to setup the IPD as I'm finding the sweet spot elusive after measuring my eyes with a ruler technique?
