    10000miles and two years. It almost looks that it was yesterday 🥹. The filter was dirty but I though it could be worst. Good maintenance 💪💪💪

    Hi Simon when we go off road in Australia, places such as Cape York, Simpson Desert, Canning Stock Route we need to clean our Air Filter every day and the Defender Air Box is not easy to remove a whole new box design would be great.

    We decided to use the Aftermarket K & N renewable one from day one!

      My 110 P300 is 9 months old with 21,000 miles. Swapped out the OEM air filter for a K&H reusable filter on the first oil/air filter maintenance @ 7k miles, and every 7K since. I opted to do the vacuum method for the oil. Easy peasy.

      K&N have a good reputation and there are eco credentials too - wash them and re oil and its good as new !

      @@L663 Sadly we still have the haters who are clueless, and say, OH but they are so bad for the engine! Boom Oil bath airfilters in all older WD landrovers! Not rocket science lol

      @@L663 Some "professional" testing done by a member of an Australian Land Rover forum (AULRO) has shown that while K&N performs well in most conditions due to having a reduced airflow restriction, a good-quality cellulose filter can outperform them in dusty environments. Indeed a slightly dusty filter will outperform a clean one.

    Useful video - thanks. Though I am very surprized that you did not hoover the mess out of the bottom of the air filter box.

      I will do that next time... for now the filter will take car of it !

    Service interval is 2yr/30000km for p300 according to JLR dealers. Adding odometer to remaining kms to service from car gives 30600km in fact. Surprising though.

    Never understood why LR use screws for the airbox when most others seem to use clips.

    • @JosephTMeiroseIV
      @JosephTMeiroseIV ปีที่แล้ว

      Agree. Would be easier with clips but the 6 screws are pretty easy already.

    How did you get the wiring loom clips off the side of the air box?

    • @L663
      @L663  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I think just small hands !

    • @Kiwiadventurerandoverlander
      @Kiwiadventurerandoverlander 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@L663 Figured it out…also had to disconnect the air suspension loom connection and partially lift the air box slowly and carefully making sure not to pull on the loom…that gave enough clearance to use tool to pull the clips off.

    Hi Simon, mine’s a 2020 D200 and when I bought it I got a service plan with it. The JLR dealer said it only needed servicing every 2 years or 20,000 miles. You’ve got me worried now!

    • @Pandora882
      @Pandora882 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      you should be iii needs at least a look at once a year and for goodness sake change the oil more frequently than they say.

      It hard to find the published servicing data for the Defender...my dash comes up with service due so thats an indication i needed a service ! I do tend to agree with Jon - 20K miles on a new engine would seem a good time to change the oil.

      @@L663 When I first got a new car 30 years ago they came with a 500 mile oil change service following a running in period. I got my 110 in April2020 and I’ve just done 13500 miles as I live in a rural area and don’t do long journeys. I haven’t had a service light on except for Ad Blu. It was the dealer that contacted me to arrange a service.

      Is it because they don’t want you to know what their not doing?

    I think the V8’s have two air boxes. So K&N says anyway.

    Well done again. Servicing is interesting because I have the “Every two years” schedule but it also requires an oil service every twelve months….which conflicts! My last was an Oil Service for £180 which seems not too bad but a standard Service for a 65 Discovery was quoted as £980!!! and mostly was simply the oil and filter change. So far all Services have been under £400 but if I still have the same car next June…how much will it be?? 🫢😨🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼😀😀😀😀Richard

      Servicing clearly helps you maintain your warranty and helps with resale of the car but i think dealers are taking advantage of this ! These are not major factors for me as i think my warranty is probably invalid and not planning on selling the stig - he is part of the family !
