This fella right here took time out of his day to help me get started and give me tips I am now picking up jobs 4 months in. Building a business from the ground up and definitely a process! Preciate it Cole!
Im just getting started as well which is how i found this channel. The videos have been helpful and inspiring so far. Always looking for some advice and tips/tricks. Love to hear youre having some success man
DId you have much experience in the skid loader work and business ownership? Hate all the "you need experience" comments. I think alot of people doing this are doing the job just fine with no formal experience.
Awesome video Cole always a highlight of my day! Id love to see a video on bidding a new job seeing what you're seeing and how you figure your estimates. Also a video on how you do your paperwork system for estimates keeping track of costsand profits etc. Thanks!
I learn so much from your videos, I just recently started my own dirtworks company. I’m in the same starting out stage as you were in when you first started yours ( completely from scratch ). So your videos are super helpful for me, I’m hugely inspired by business and absolutely love business myself. Absolutely enjoy being able to play in the dirt and getting to run equipment under my own authority. So for better words I find you as a super informative teacher and appreciate the fact that you love spreading the wealth and sharing some of the tricks and tips of the business. I hope your business grows for the upmost success, and more people grow your TH-cam channel for you. Thank you for all the help and the business prospering tips you share to your subscribers.
Thank you for your videos! I’ve been searching for quite sometime for a new career. I wanted to start a small excavation business a few years ago with my dad, but he passed away. I came across one of your videos at 2:30am. I’ve watched a few of them now and subscribed. I have decided to follow through with my plan- maybe I was meant to see your video. I don’t know if you’ve already posted this in your other videos, but if you wouldn’t mind sharing how you structured your company, if you pay yourself as an employee (and if so, what one should pay themselves as a startup), if the reason you’re leasing the equipment from your dad’s company is for legal mitigation, and what your typical operational costs are each month/cost to operate per hour (repairs, maintenance, fuel, etc.). Also what are the types of jobs you have taken that you enjoy the most and what are some jobs you wouldn’t take again? Do you need specific licensing in your state to run heavy equipment? Is a CDL required to transport the dumper trailer with skid steer? Any specific reasons you chose the Kubota over other manufacturers? A sincere Thank you. 🙏
I had a contracting Residential and Commercial business with my parents. I lost both within 2 months of each other because of Covid and closed the business down due to being sick myself and depression. I have a TL 130, C4500 and trailer. I want to start a small excavation company that is just a one man band now. The part I am missing is how and where to market myself for clients. Appreciate you and your family values. My mom was a triplet with an identical sister and brother and also had another set of twin siblings. Seeing your twins brought back a lot of memories my mom and I shared. God Bless you and much success..
Thank you Cole! Your videos have been helping inspire me to get out there and just give it a start. I have a habit of thinking and planning a decision to death. These videos have shown me its possible for guys like me. Im in the process of buying a skidsteer for work around my house as i need an expansion on my garage and need to build a new driveway. Thought those could be good starting spots to learn how to cut and grade a difficult shaped and angled driveway firsthand. Thankfully, some of the larger contractors in my area are overbooked and willing to throw smaller jobs my way, but i have no idea how to price my time. Everyone around me says dont charge by the hour, but instead, i should charge by the square foot or linear foot. Anyone else being told the same thing?
I personally charge by the job, a 30 series machine and a 75hp machine should roughly generate $150 an hour. Now how you mark up your materials and transportation cost is up to you. Thanks for watching!
We currently use a old 1997 cat akidsteer but working on getting a T770 cuz of all the rocks and thick brush where we live. But those numbers sound about what we were hoping. I guess time and e perience will be the best educators. Keep up the good work man! Appreciate the response
been in business 3years the first 2 was really good, this year has been bad its about came to a stop. I post on face book and word of mouth most of my work this year was repeat customer. not sure what happen.
How to get my name out there how to get business without a bunch of money to spend I just got rid of my mini excavator because it sits there more than it runs, and it was a payment that was hard justifying having without the work to back it up and then when I do get jobs, I under quote them tremendously not even knowing it
I got started with a T770 and grapple land clearing. I slowly got all the other things on auctions like Purplewave. I found a 2007 F450, for $7,000, an old 24,000 rated pound trailer for $4500, fuel tank, and two tree cutting attachments. There are jobs, but hard to find in Kansas. Most farmers just buy their own saw to cut trees as the all have skid steers already. Getting loans for equipment is very dangerous and you must have mechanical ability and able to change hydraulic lines etc. You MUST have cash for repairs. Read your Bible or you will be deceived by people who pretend to know more in churches. You are responsible to make money and YOU are responsible to know truth from religious falsehood.
So I just moved to my area and don't have a lot of friends here in Lexington, KY area. Will my FB post still be effective? I am new to utilizing FB for advertising.
I have a question. Does youtube pay you enough to take the time to make these videos, or is it an inconsiderate amount of money compared to your own business?

How do you enjoy the skid loader land rake? I'm about to get one. I used the hydraulic one and didn't really like it.
Blessings! Great video;)

Unfortunately it’s an election year, economy isn’t helping anything.

Facebook has brought me soooo much business!!! I prefer video post showing my work and the process.
I struggle with finding the right people that need work I can spend money on ads and never get anything just lost!
Great video!!
I was wondering do you have any license, like a landscape license?
It is not required where I’m located
@@MORE_DIRT Here in North Carolina it is required for any job over 5k I believe and to do commercial jobs.
I have a question. Does youtube pay you enough to take the time to make these videos, or is it an inconsiderate amount of money compared to your own business?
It’s pennies, I don’t do TH-cam for the money though. I do it because I genuinely want to help people.
God First!
How do I get ahold of you?
