Just a note about English Ivy for the Pacific Northwest and the South of the US, and BC, Canada. DO NOT PLANT IVY OUTSIDE! They are an invasive species and choke out other plants/trees, especially in forests. It's a pet-peeve of mine that many invasive plants are trendy, sold regularly and used so commonly in outdoor landscaping. Research your area and pick, preferably native species, otherwise other options that won't wreck the balance of outdoor habitats!

I love this guy. One issue I find when buying planters is finding them with drainage holes + plant saucer + an inner liner. It should not be this difficult to find these things all in one. Why does this feel like such an investment in time finding all the necessary components?
Totally agree with you! I think it's because like he said in the video, planters sold in stores aren't well made which cause the plant to die and forces customers to make repeat purchases of both plants and planters. This fuels capitalism as it makes you, the consumer, spend more money and time searching and buying things to keep your plant alive.
This reminds me of those articles where doctors take a guess at what medical conditions historical figures had based on Renaissance paintings. Something we don't know but would love to hear about!

I really enjoy this breakdown 💜 Plus being given this information in a lovely way that gives you the confidence to try other plants and the small things you dont think about that can make it or break it for a plant. Would love to see more of these ❤ or even branching out to the home gardens (mint, basil, Cucumber,etc) that plant parents can see the joy of transitioning to veggie farming parents 🌱

Christopher please shout it for the folks in the back that thinks it’s a good thing to put mayonnaise on leaves to keep them shiny 😱 they’re basically suffocating the leaves and plant from being able to breath by putting an unnatural oily substance on them just for looks! It kills me when I still see people in the comments giving this advice to novices 😭 tell them Plant Kween 👑
Sorry not sorry but Nicole Scherzinger’s FLF has leaf shine on it and that stuff is trash for your plant. Also putting anything at the bottom of your pot is no substitute for drainage holes- look up perched water table.
I have a lot of these plants (mainly because I was super bored being stuck at home during covid so I went on a plant shopping spree) and this video has answered a lot of my questions. Also love the terminology he uses for the plants lol 🤣
13:35 Yep, that's 100% PLASTIC (ok, maybe some fabric). Absolutely no way ALL the immaculate leaves stand perfectly FLAT at a 75 degree angle. You can even see the separations between leaf and stalk (where you can buy new PLASTIC leaves and insert them lol).

The English ivy is INVASIVE. My neighborhood has a major English ivy problem. The roots are several inches in diameter because it wasn't delt with for decades.
