Mos definelty. He has to Crack the engine case for this one Alot of people get it confused with the T Tensioners that give off a Suttle rattle sound when cold @ low RPM but quiets down when the oil rises. This is NOT that.
Hi. I have a 2009 HRC model with the same problem. I recently replaced the crank and fitted brand new crank bearings which have to be matched up to the casing and crank numbers, meaning each set of bearings are specific to each engine... Anyway... Reason for change of crank was because previous crank gear broke some teeth. Gear which meshes with clutch basket gear. Keep in mind with previous crank this noise was still not as bad.....long story short.... Even after fitting good 2nd hand crank and replacing clutch basket.. I still can not get rid of this noise.. However the bike runs and drives 100% Please comment back you find any other solution for this..
Ok so I also done the same replaced the clutch basket. I found very loose springs and a broken spring I thought that was the issue so replaced and still horrible noises.....Now I'm really scratching my head. So maybe just maybe it's the the chain guide worn out.

Io in questi giorni apro il blocco e ti faccio sapere, occhio che a volte fa un suono simile quando si brucia qualche guarnizione del collettore di scarico.. ma Honda è difficile, ma succede, cmq teniamoci in contatto
Ciao il meccanico dice che potrebbe essere qualche ingranaggio/cuscinetto frizione ma dovrebbe aprire e se non vede nulla di usurato potrebbe essere l'albero motore , il mio in marcia (mentre vado) non fa più rumore , ma solo da fremo @@rsaprilia2711
Hey, I think you can still ride it. It will just get worse though over time. I got mine fixed because i push the bike often so I was worried about outright blowing the bottom end of the motor. This is a common problem with the 2008 Motor. Im not sure about the 2007 model BUT if you are able to just change the primary gear on the crankshaft it wont be as expensive as it was for me. Hi.. Primary gear?.. Are you referring to the crank gear that meshes with clutch basket.. From what I can see, that gear can not simply be removed from crank which is why I replaced the entire crank.. Please help
Think it's a problem with primary gear on crank shaft Honda claim that the noise doesn't affect performance or reliability I have got this on my bike its around 2000 to get fixed
+james lastus Hey It is a faulty crankshaft.The Primary gear goes out of whack over time . There was a warranty extension on the 2008 CBR'1000s because of this problem. I missed the boat so have to fix on my own. Probably you too.

Same also on my cbr954rr. I think that knocking sound comes from the clutch housing and apparently it is not that serious.
