This is so superb it's scary. Thanks for sharing. The only exposure I had to this song was on James Taylor's JT Album where he sings it with Linda Rondstadt. Keith kills it...he always did. Cause there aint' no better voice.
I love George, but even the great George Jones was just a hair below Keith Whitley. Keith was the #1 bluegrass singer and the #1 country singer. It's so damn sad that he left us all when he was so young.
mike jones. Keith was a hair below George. Keith probably the most pure voice ever, but George knew how to sing, some words whispered, some cried out. No one had the vocal and emotional acrobatics as Jones. As great as Keith is, no one immersed themself in a lyric like Jones. Listen to this and the go listen to George’s version from the set list live album. Keith would say the same if he was here today.
Casey R Keith knew when to get quiet and mumble some words too. I just can’t find a voice better than Keith. He could’ve covered Sgt. Pepper and sounded incredible.
Gosh, Keith was in the band "Ralph Stanley and the Clinch Mountain Boys" just the year before this video ---- does anyone know what Keith's drink of choice was? I always wanted to sit down and have a beer with him and have him tell stories of Ralph Stanley and have him imitate Lester Flatt.
Moonshine was the drink alot of times at these Bluegrass shows Probably what got him started drinking So sad it's like alot of bad things it can take hold of you and you think you cant let it go
He made it with his owe sound that's what he did does not better best. Or bladder than Mr Jones they each have that own sound in heaven and I know it's the best that ever will be!
Doesn’t get much better than this. JD Crowe and Keith Whitley in their primes singing the great George Jones
Put Keith in the hall of fame
We all know how great he was... Someone is being an asshole ..
Put Keith in the hall of fame
Keith is for sure # one, could sing the phone book!!
Keith Whitley was so special.
Good lord have MERCY. This version will make ya take back stuff ya never stole! STOUT
Never have I ever heard a more perfect voice how did he do it
What's wrong with the 1 person who doesn't like this? Keith Whitley was a song's best friend!
Marci Salyer Nimick he could sing the phone book and make you cry
Marci Salyer Nimick I know, right?!? I can't understand disliking a Whitley led song!
he was also a "Song Writer's" best friend
There can never be a better cover to BB than what you've heard here.
Whitley , Gaudreau and Crowe! Best Grass Band Ever!
Absolutely awesome. That's REAL MUSIC RIGHT THERE.
Keith tearing it Up and JD rockin
Excellent music by all of them.
God rest your beautiful soul Keith… there will never be another you
Best friend to any song for sure!! 👍🏻

Agreed. A voice this great is almost scary.
Eugene Benjamin George Jones done a version of this song as a matter of fact him and Keith Whitley are the only two I know who can sing it.
"To keep me from slipping away" Sadly, that ìs exactly what happened. 💔😇♥️ We will meet again.
He's got the voice and he's got the style. Never was a Bluegrass singer like Keith Whitley.
Love Keith James might be the only alive I want to see again
A real gem here keep it up WOW
Great singer nice harmony guys. LorraineG.
Great job, great show, really enjoyed
Thanks for posting
Thx for sharing!
Very nice job by all of the New South. Keith sems to be channeling a younger George Jones here. (that's a good thing) ;)
MrMusicguyma he was always impersonating someone

No one puts more heart in this song then George Jones. Sorry I guess they did try.
Keith whitley 🐐
You’re right Rose, but Keith the closest singer to Jones this world will ever see. Jones, Whitley, and Gosdin 3 greatest country singers ever
He made it with his owe sound that's what he did does not better best. Or bladder than Mr Jones they each have that own sound in heaven and I know it's the best that ever will be!
More heart, you’ve got to be kidding me! I love George but Keith can sing him under the table! Best part this is live and Keith is young here!
@@TheAccusedRoidUser sing George under the table....little much don't you think??
