just bring back the old economy system that’s still in special gamemodes today, dealing 1 damage to an enemy gives you 1 cash, and so on. it’s way better than getting all the cash only when the enemy dies, since you get constantly rewarded for dealing damage yourself
then some of these "cashcow" enemies will be even MORE op for money. Cashcow enemies would just give even more cash and make the game even easier. A way to fix this is just to give more money in trios and quads but make the game overall harder. People wouldn't be complaining about the eco calculation formulas and stuff if it gave you a crap ton of money either way.

they add hp to trio and quad because defenses in trio and quad are generally a lot stronger. You could technically get 4x the DPS in quad compared to solo, which is why they increase the hp.
FINALLY someone addressing this eco system. I absolutely HATE THIS NEW ECO SYSTEM. You make no money when there are multiple people. This is why I always play solo and duo cause this new eco system sucks. Pls it's so easy to fix, just bring back the money on hit instead of money on kill.

Even though I most play quad, I usually don't care. My main problem with it is how it screws over almost all of the challenge maps' eco, looking at you, legion. At least back to basics had a band-aid fix by applying the easy mode and new fallen enemies.
Multiplayer economy is fine, but shared percent is ridiculous! We need to fix "shared" percent bag (as you mentioned, by doing 0 damage you get more cash, the heck is this?! and simply bring old cash system, when you get cash every time when the damage is dealt, it made WAY MORE sense! (But if we investigate, we will find out that it was made because of STUPID spam of enemies, rather then making them more powerfull (which was implemented on reworked molten, finally). if cowboy doesn’t need a buff, why would g cowboy need one? i mean if cowboy doesn’t need a buff g cowboy could have a bit more cash and a bit more damage and it still wouldn’t need a buff, also the farm rework is really horrible, why waste cash and space for a top path farm when you can just get dj?? at least bottom path pursuit has a use and sometimes you’ll want it, but top path farm will be useless as hell and people will just get bottom path, or hell, not even use farm and get a cowboy lol
I was thinking about this for a little while and I came up with a system where on wave 1 each damage u deal is $1 but it doubles every 5 waves, so on wave 5 2 damage, on wave 10 4, damage on wave 15 8 damage, and so on. I did the math and at wave 40 it would take 256 damage for $1 which if you think about it, is quite reasonable
Solution: literally just revert to the old system. The current one has too many flaws and even with your suggested solutions it’s still worse than the original system imo
Yeah this is awful, that's another reason why I don't play co-op I will rejoice the day they remove wave clear bonuses (and just combine it with the base wave bonus)
@mzanzibari Yeah, wave clear bonuses are completely counter-intuitive. The little benefit to the game they might have is overshadowed by the problems and frustrations it brings. It's an absolutely awful system and makes games run longer because nobody wants to skip because you just lose money as a result while making things more diffucult. The old system was perfectly fine. Combining the cash with the regular wave bonus (and then removing the clear bonus as a mechanic) would bring the benefits of both skipping and waiting to people so the players actually have two reasonable choices with their own benefits.
@Gamemaster64 the old system was lowkey better because it makes the game easier,thus making you win more times than usual. They probably did this because they want to make the game harder. When u count ppl win lose ratio in the game, most of their ratio has more losses than wins. I saw only one person with 71 losses and 1770 wins.

sry, for making this explanation so long. But I believe the reason they did this was because you would get more money if you stall the health regen enemies. Example: if you got the boss Ghoul boss in intermediate mode to 4 hp. You can let it regen and then just to deal dmg again to gain more money. But with this new system you cannot anymore. But this is still BS because the health regen is mostly given to enemies you WANT TO KILL AS FAST AS POSSIBLE Example: Templar, necromancer, fallen summoner, fallen tank and breakers. And enemies such as the Slow, Armored, living experiment and hazmat, appear late enough so you would barely want to use that niche trick. they really should just bring the old cash system back

This wouldn't encourage people to not do damage by punishing them for doing low damage, but would still give them less cash for doing low damage.
The amount of inconsistency and multiple systems thrown all around the place in how you get money from enemies is absolutely unnecessary and so annoyingly easy to fix. Fortunately inconsistency has been fixed over the months in 2024 but the main system is just bad. Don't forget challange maps beta enemies have BROKEN cash system (giving 1 to 0 cash on death), except for the current version. The devs are trying to make hybrid farming and defending in a norm in tds, so that early defender's wont get the cash benefits from late game defenders, which forces the players to have farm in their loadout if they want to have everything placed down by the final wave, istg theres time where me and my teammates couldn't activate hidden wave because they DON'T HAVE enough money for the final wave.
Literally EVERYONE I've heard from says they dislike this system, the devs need to change this. The old money system was fine, why did they remove it? For events it might make sense to do the hardcore cash on death but the normal gamemodes shouldn't be like this.
Bring back old cash system -> every damage dealt is how much everyone will get -> increase upgrade prices only depending on how much people are in the game.
The bonus per perfect clear is the worst tbh because make some units like military base worst and dont allow players to do things like Farm the first waves without defending
My system: For every enemy, the first 50% of its cash is always evenly distributed between every player, meaning regardless of the damage you deal you'll always get at least 12.5% of the cash. Then the final 50% is directly proportional to the damage you dealt. So if I dealt 40% of the damage I would get (12.5+20)% or 32.5%.
@trollguy-z9v with the current version it means you earn less money than you're meant to. I don't see how this is worse, as it keeps the economy balanced but also gives extra cash to those who deal more damage
@reconsider3735 if someone's loadout wasn't using an eco tower and idk they were underpowered compared to another player. So in other words I'd say most people would rather get punished for defending than not defending good enough
This one change made any trio or quad fallen game I'm playing feel less... Fun. Below really needs to bring back the old economy mechanic wherr you get 1 cash per damage on an enemy (with the exception for special gamemodes still having this new economy mechanic)
I do understand why they made this system, mainly so they can spam bloated enemies without them giving you crazy amounts of cash, or just tanky enemies without them being cash cows, but the eco in multiplayer is absolutely garbage ☠️
The TDS eco is terrible before the change, honestly it needs a overhaul. If Cowboy (+ G) and farm gets removed, the game would feel painful. That's why Farm or cowboy are in almost all loadouts.
There’s honestly only 1 way to do the economy system, and it’s shared cash. Shared cash doesn’t discourage getting supports, and literally nobody is mad about it. Also, GIVE US OUR MONEY INSTANTLY, NOT AFTER THE ENEMY DIES.
Tbh solo is better in terms of cash gained per player, but solo is (much) harder and slower than duo or trio. So what the hell is the point of this shared cash system when one player does absolutely nothing while others carrying have to suffer from lack of economy?
My problem isnt actually about the cash it’s just that it feels so damn boring having to wait to kill an enemy for some cash. They should atleast remove the cash indicators tbh, that’s why it didn’t feel as bad in hardcore
I think this is actually intentional. It's to "balance" out the OP towers because they're expensive, and require a crap ton of farming to get. Even then, I don't think this economy system is bad. It's 100% okay in solo or duo, and in trio and quad it can just be circumvented with farm and DJ. I think you're honestly overexaggerating it. You barely talked about farm or cowboy, which are your main sources of income. The eco system can be worked on, but I don't think it's eproblematic simply because of how towers are balanced and the fact that eco towers are just op. P:S - I use dark mode, and for some reason, that makes my text black, which makes it nearly impossible ot type out. That's why my comment is relatively short and I can't go into depth.

Don't forget challange maps beta enemies have BROKEN cash system (giving 1 to 0 cash on death), except for the current version.
The devs are trying to make hybrid farming and defending in a norm in tds, so that early defender's wont get the cash benefits from late game defenders, which forces the players to have farm in their loadout if they want to have everything placed down by the final wave, istg theres time where me and my teammates couldn't activate hidden wave because they DON'T HAVE enough money for the final wave.
At this point we need a passive cash system that produces cash per seconds
They should make eco similar to tdx by making farm an option rather than req. tower and make that your main income is killing enemies
Literally EVERYONE I've heard from says they dislike this system, the devs need to change this. The old money system was fine, why did they remove it? For events it might make sense to do the hardcore cash on death but the normal gamemodes shouldn't be like this.
Bring back old cash system -> every damage dealt is how much everyone will get -> increase upgrade prices only depending on how much people are in the game.

My system:
For every enemy, the first 50% of its cash is always evenly distributed between every player, meaning regardless of the damage you deal you'll always get at least 12.5% of the cash. Then the final 50% is directly proportional to the damage you dealt. So if I dealt 40% of the damage I would get (12.5+20)% or 32.5%.

@trollguy-z9v with the current version it means you earn less money than you're meant to. I don't see how this is worse, as it keeps the economy balanced but also gives extra cash to those who deal more damage

@reconsider3735 if someone's loadout wasn't using an eco tower and idk they were underpowered compared to another player. So in other words I'd say most people would rather get punished for defending than not defending good enough

This one change made any trio or quad fallen game I'm playing feel less... Fun. Below really needs to bring back the old economy mechanic wherr you get 1 cash per damage on an enemy (with the exception for special gamemodes still having this new economy mechanic)
It’s not even that bad, it’s fine. I personally enjoy it more than the old version.
I do understand why they made this system, mainly so they can spam bloated enemies without them giving you crazy amounts of cash, or just tanky enemies without them being cash cows, but the eco in multiplayer is absolutely garbage ☠️
The TDS eco is terrible before the change, honestly it needs a overhaul.
If Cowboy (+ G) and farm gets removed, the game would feel painful. That's why Farm or cowboy are in almost all loadouts.

There’s honestly only 1 way to do the economy system, and it’s shared cash. Shared cash doesn’t discourage getting supports, and literally nobody is mad about it.

make it the old tds eco system that was such a good system because it doesn't have that shared damage, its just how much damage you do.
Tbh solo is better in terms of cash gained per player, but solo is (much) harder and slower than duo or trio. So what the hell is the point of this shared cash system when one player does absolutely nothing while others carrying have to suffer from lack of economy?
Ever since this sytem, TDS lost so much of the replayability it had for me. The gameplay does not feel as satisfying or smooth as before.

duo/trio fallen is the best, duo is 75% cash per player (150% cash), trio is 50% cash per player (150%)
2 things do it without the caps in multiplayer OR divide evenly between the players

the old cash system was a lot better, molten was the last time we'd see the old system before rework.

My problem isnt actually about the cash it’s just that it feels so damn boring having to wait to kill an enemy for some cash. They should atleast remove the cash indicators tbh, that’s why it didn’t feel as bad in hardcore

I think this is actually intentional. It's to "balance" out the OP towers because they're expensive, and require a crap ton of farming to get.
Even then, I don't think this economy system is bad. It's 100% okay in solo or duo, and in trio and quad it can just be circumvented with farm and DJ. I think you're honestly overexaggerating it. You barely talked about farm or cowboy, which are your main sources of income. The eco system can be worked on, but I don't think it's eproblematic simply because of how towers are balanced and the fact that eco towers are just op.
P:S - I use dark mode, and for some reason, that makes my text black, which makes it nearly impossible ot type out. That's why my comment is relatively short and I can't go into depth.
