The Twins can’t beat anyone who is a division leading team this year, not just the Yankees. Yes MLB is a joke because of how they handle revenue and payrolls, but face it:
    1) This ownership group does not care whether or not the team wins.
    2) This front office continues to make boneheaded personnel moves and worships analytics without understanding them.
    3) The management group can’t teach, make adjustments or inspire anyone to play at or above their talent level.
They are not going anywhere unless at least 2 of the 3 groups completely change.

It all comes down to pitching. The Yakee pitchers always out preform the Twins pitchers. That is the bottom line. When we had good pitching last year we won the season series. This is not hard to figure out.

Until Falvey is replaced, this drought will continue. Falvey has traded away so many of the top pitchers he drafted like Gil, Petty, Povich, Hajjar etc. he also has made some bonehead #1 draft picks like Sabato and Cavaco. It’s all about drafting. The Twins have ONE starting pitcher they drafted, Ober.

    Good show guys!
The Twins beating the Yankees is nothing more than a mental hang up and 'we can't beat this team' attitude!
Somebody needs to get in their heads and tell them that they are putting too much pressure on themselves and start focusing on the game itself and stop thinking the Yankees are unbeatable because they're not invincible! 😭

The funny thing is, in the series with the Yankees in 2006 maybe, the twins were up 3 nothing and Santana gave up 4 in the bottom half. Twins could have easily won both games in NY. They have pretty much been dominated since that time lol

  • @kentmilbrandt3989

Part of the problem is the knowledge that the Yankees are a team we struggle against creates a mental belief that we can not compare with that team. Pitching and defense can win most any game.

I’ve had a chance now to watch a few major league teams. The reason baseball isn’t selling is most of these guys can barely field their positions and as far as hitting goes instead of believing an old timer like me check the batting average of teams during the championship run of 87’ and 91’ by the twins. Major League Baseball is the only pro sports venue that has taken two or three steps backwards. Put it this way none of the twins would have started on a slow pitch team in 60’-70’s fielding there positions as they do (exceptions Buxton and Correa). Pro baseball players of yesterday were better hands down. Paul Blair , Craig Nettles , Brooks Robinson , Willie Mays , Sandy Valdispino (lousy hitter but better fielder than you have now) to name many. I think Baseball is in crisis. I’d never pay to see more than a couple of Twins players . Byron Buxton when he was healthy and Carlos Correa. In my view those two when healthy could have played in my day on the Twins but the rest would have sat the bench on a good slow pitch team. You have no one in the lineup that can and could play First Base like Kent Hrbek not even close. I don’t know what’s happened at the amateur level but ball period has been watered down or you’re not getting the best athletes in your game anymore. Sorry but I give baseball three 🤮🤮🤮.

Bert Blylevin who’s curve ball was so devastating that hall of famer Tony Gwynn said of his curve ball was on don’t bother trying to hit it. I can tell you never saw the likes of a Reggie Jackson or Harmon Killebrew play. Pitching ain’t shit today. Where’s your knuckle ballers knuckle head. Total arrogance on your part my dude. Learn respect towards the greats. Kirby Puckett would have destroyed this pitching get out of here 😂.

    • @markreese6693
      @markreese6693 26 วันที่ผ่านมา

I think you must be young. Because if you saw Johnny Bench or Thurman Munson play you might think twice. Kirby Puckett , Craig Nettles (Twins then Yankees) Brooks Robinson. There’s a ton more here I could name drop. It’s not that the pitching is better the effing hitters constantly keep their bats on their shoulders for a called 3rd strike. I’ll paraphrase what Pat Reusse said “whatever happened to if it’s too close to call swing the effing bat. The fielding is sub par to the point it’s easy to say these guys couldn’t play on slow pitch teams with their fielding abilities (from the 60’s and 70’s). I think when fully healthy the twins only have 3 guys that could make that 87’ or 91’ teams. Carlos Correa, Byron Buxton and Royce Lewis. Sorry but maybe you should watch extensive old games from the past to see what I mean.

Twins play with cheap pitchers who have lesser win lose records. Yankees have some of the most expensive pitchers who are usually veteran and higher win loss records. Give us another decent pitcher the whole team feels more inclined to win! Pitchers more confidence and hitters with higher confidence because the team feels like they have a better chance to compete every member has a higher I want to win attitude.

I think what said that Yanks had 74% winning pct. since 2001. I’d submit that the fact that the Yanks payroll is 240 MM and the Twins is 129MM with similar disparities going back decades explains a lot plus the Yankees spend their money smartly, managers like Torre and Aaron Boone,

Could it just be payroll, and that their aggregate roster is always going to be collectively better than ours because of what they can afford to pay ? We'll rise up once in awhile with good players, and even seasons, but I think both teams end up "floating" the relative payroll and skill level for each team.

The salary cap or lack of salary cap isn’t the issue anymore actually never was an issue. If pro sports truly believed in the free (if our government did too) market this wouldn’t be an issue. All sports have a problem with the false economy. In a true free market your competitors don’t need you to survive but in professional sports each team needs the other to survive. The owners and players have become to greedy and it were truly a free market system they would have already priced themselves out of the market with these ridiculous TV contracts and legalized gambling. The players are asking for such astronomical salaries that in the end they’re bumping elbows with Bill Gates (crook). They need CPA’S to do their taxes. In the end the fans do have a say. Don’t go to the games until sanity hits. Don’t expect rational answers from podcasters or pundits because they’re part of the problem not the solution. Fan Duel sound familiar? Legalized gambling hmmm. Who advertises this hmmm all of them. You think there’s a common sense solution from people who are exacerbating the system/problem. The fans are the only ones that have the power here but if you say or do nothing then 10 or 20 years from now you’ll be looking to the same schmucks for answers when “you were the answer all along” 😉.

Also they have 40 wins with TERRIBLE starting pitching this year. We only have two guys who can start a playoff game and not get destroyed so unless they make moves or get healthy they have a ceiling

  • @dgchristensen771

How's that "ace" pitcher working out for you guys? He's never been an ace, wasn't your ace last year, this year he's the worst starting pitcher you have. He'll probably have 19 more starts this year. At 6 innings per start, that's 114 more innings. If he has a 3.08 ERA for the rest of the season, he'll get his ERA a tick under 4.00 by the end of the year. Good luck with that.
Okay stat guys, go look at Pablo's career splits. What teams has he faced the most in his career? NL East teams of course: 14 starts against the Braves and Nationals, 12 starts against the Mets, and 9 against the Phillies. So How has he done against the teams that have seen him most? Braves 5.40 ERA, Nats 5.53 ERA, Mets 5.54 ERA. Only the Phils who have the least exposure is he decent. So is 5.45 an aberration or is it what we can expect going forward?
Meanwhile in St. Paul, Julien is getting right, just 3 K's yesterday. He peaked on July 21 last season and has pretty much been a bum since. 4 1/2 months, think he's gonna figure it out any time soon?
And in San Diego, that bum is just leading MLB in hitting for the second straight season. Twins are great at selling low and buying high and you're living on 3 true outcomes which is quickly becoming passe. Even at it's peak it was only about 1/3rd of the game. Get past your K's and your FIP and think real baseball. A hit is still better than a walk. Walks only advance runners who are forced to move up, hits move everyone up, so while there is something to OBP, it's overrated as far as impact goes. Pablo walked the meat of the Yankees order because he was afraid to pitch to them, 6 walks to 3 guys. He wasn't wild, he was scared.

Why people act like the Twins are a small market team, I will never understand. Makes you look scared and weak when you pull this card. People refuse to recognize ownership is horrible and simply doesn’t care about winning and the Twins franchise is nothing more than a piece in the Pohlad’s financial portfolio. But I’ll humor you, why would being a “little money” team matter? Actual small market teams like the Royals, Rays, A’s have no problem beating the Yankees way more often than the Twins.
