  • My shingling tropical houseplants (rhaphidophora cryptantha, rhaphidophora hayi, rhaphidophora korthalsii, monstera dubia) live on a moss pole / plank without any soil. Yup, no soil! How are they doing after 2 months of being soil-less?? Medium to low light, low humidity needs, high on fun and satisfaction and coolness =)

    Monstera dubia needs a lot of humidity. I had mine for 4 months and for the first 2 months she didn't put out any leaves. As soon I've put her under a dome she starting putting out new leaves😊 love the video💚

    I got a Hayi that was almost dead. 2 rooted plants with 1 leaf each. It was in a 6” pot with a cedar board. I just misted the plant and top soil until the soil dried out in the pot and then rewatered. After 2 weeks the plants started pushing out new growth. After another month 1 plant has 4 new leafs and the other has 2 little leafs. It is in bright indirect sun

      Yeah noticed that I can't find a lot either. I am struggling to stop mine where the leaves are turning yellow from the bottom up and one by one gradually falling off. I have the room at about 70-85% humidity and soak the moss every few days as the climate here (Adelaide Australia) is very dry. I have misted them almost everyday and have tried them in soil as well as moss. This has happened to both my hayii now however I have some Cryptantha that is fine although slow growing. I am really stumped on what is going wrong. Do people also fertalize their vines as I havn't tried this yet? Any suggestions please before my plants completely fade.

    I bought a M. Dubia cutting in June. I almost killed it. I had it upside down drying out and didn’t know. 🤣😂 Until I could figure out what to do with it I stuck it in a ziplock bag and kept it moist. I was told they don’t tolerate light. After making a terrarium I put it under a seedling light and it shot out so many roots.

  • @kentrobinson567
    @kentrobinson567 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I have placed my monstera dubia in a terrarium and it is growing like crazy, so I suspect that humidity may be the reason for such slow/no growth.

      I’m not quite sure. I don’t think it’s a growth point or recovery issue. It very well could be humidity, though mine’s in the 60s. Maybe they need even more? Not sure.

      Legends Of Monstera we put our dubia in a ikea vase/dome at 80-99% humidity, and it grew reaally well. ~1 leaf per week. It was just in soil with a wooden board. I would love to see you experiment with your dubia with a humidity dome!!

      Can I ask if you live in India? Because absolutely everywhere I go where plants are being discussed and looked at - especially the more tropical plants - there are Indian men demanding to know where they can get the plant in question. And it’s always people in the states or in the UK that you’re asking this of. You have the ability to use google. Use it! Nobody in the West will have any idea of where your nurseries are, and almost all nurseries will not send to India. I just don’t get why you can’t work it out. You’re not stupid!
