Myself never met my father, but when I learned that he’s not around because he didn’t want me, i never yearn for him. Never even asked for his name. When i got older and met people who knew him, they would tell me about him and where he’s at. I just say 🤫.
People wanted to know if i want to see him, i asked them, why? Why should I? I love who loves me and care for who care about me only. Anybody else, do not matter. God is my Father and he is the ultimate father. Why seek someone who didn’t want me?

This man is so dumb. What a waste of life. He abandoned his wife and daughters because he wanted a son. He loved and did everything for kids that ate not hus blood. Karma got himself an evil son who abandoned him. I'm disappointed at these daughters. They should not give this man the time and day.

I am one of 6 daughters my father has. He has only one son. I hope my father hears this story. I’m sure he has since him and my mother are faithful listeners. My father and my brother had a falling out and now they don’t speak. Dad, please know us 6 daughters got you.

Love hearing these kinds of story…it’s sad but it tells how the older generations were and how it affected them in the long run. We needs these kind of stories so that we can learn and grow from it. It teaches us to not make the same mistakes. Sons were highly valued and daughters were not but that is changing now. Hmong men are finding out that their highly valued sons are growing up to not be what they had hoped for when they get old. It’s the daughters that truly steps up and help them when they get old. Sons or daughters, a parent’s love should be equal. We live and cannot see the future…

Thats why men should never under estimate there daughters no matter if they are a Daughter. They can LOVE just like a SON. always remember your kids are always your kids no matter if they are a SON or a DAUGHTER. Love them and you will be happy and live happily.

I'm glad our younger generation men loves both genders, unlike the older generation that looks down upon girls. I'm thankful my parents love my siblings and I the same regardless of our gender.

It's not karma for the old man because his daughters came around and give him their love. They should be doing everything for their mom instead. Hope you can focus and love your bio kids from here on out. As for the others, don’t take the hurt as negative. You did all you could. I would forget them and let them go if it’s not healthy for you. It’s human to desire a son and love. Mistakes are good lessons. The hurt will always be there but stay positive that you were a good father to others and that you still have time to correct your regrets for your daughters. All the best. Life is short. He do not deserve love at all from his daughters he don’t even love them. Very disappointed in the daughters how they are treating him like he didn’t do anything to them and their mom… they keep saying their sad and tu siab for the daddy but they’re not even doing anything to make him feel like he don’t deserve them…

Most Hmong men has the same mentality. My dad had 6 girls before the boys were born. They pour all their love on the first and last son but as they got older they found that the girls were more generous with their time and money. The first son only comes to visit them like a distance relative. My parents realized in later years that both sons and daughters are just as valuable. Now only one son and all daughters surround my parents only. So yep, men daughters show more love and support cause women are not embarrassed to show love.

Will.. I hear lots of negative comments but it is what it is. It’s call stage of life ppl. This father learn his lessons and grew wiser. There’s clumsy old Hmong husband with this no son need genes to carry his last name on. At the end he just realized the world is changing and it’s not 1960. I only have 2 daughters but I taught my girls to forgive their dad. Do good so next life they get good karma. Life’s too short to hate and have grudges.

Some baby cries all night until morning then they fall asleep the whole day, it starts over again , my 4th daughter did cried all night and sleep all day , if anyone have a child like that try this, keeps the light on at night it might help. As long as Hmong daughters allow this behavior to continue, Hmong fathers will continue this cycle of abandoning their daughters. If there are no consequences and they are never held accountable for their actions, why would they stop? They abandon their daughters when they are young and when they get old, their daughters come running back to take care of them, give them money, etc. Hmong daughters need to value themselves better.

Sixty-two (62) years old and finally see women as part human. How sad. I'm still not convinced that this man now sees daughters equal to sons. Maybe it's just the culture at its core beliefs. Don't mistake forgiveness, compassion, and pity for personal love. They are very different and comes with very distinct feelings and warmth. This story is, really, just a weak attempt at a less than whole-hearted apology. Perhaps, some are just not strong enough communicators and lack the ability to express adequately. However, discoveries in goodness are celebrated and are not masked in sadness and despair.
