I had TH-cam TV when it was $35 / month. Then they added channels I didn't want or need and price increases kept escalating. Game over for me. Just give us the option to pick our channels we actually want. Prices would go down, subscribers would go up, and channels nobody cares about would die on the vine - as they should.
August 2020 when they went from 50 to 65 a month was when I gave up. I already wasn't watching much and it made no sense to pay more to not watch much.
I agree. It went from $72.99 to $82.99. I wish I could pick my own personal channels. A lot of fluff is on. I got Frndly TV for Life Time and MeTV. That price is $8.79. Next, you have to pay for Wi-Fi. It is well over $100 dollars! That price is no different from the cable price I used to have! Greed!
@@steveville54 I can answer that for my family. First, we're not throwing away any money. We're paying for services we desire. We subscribe to TH-cam TV for: -- Sports: F1, IndyCar, NASCAR, & NHRA racing, MLB, NBA, & NFL -- Local channels which brings us local news and the major networks -- Minor networks (AMC, BBC America, Syfy, TBS, TNT, etc.) The only way we can get all that is with TH-cam TV or Hulu + Live TV. We chose TH-cam TV.
i have You Tube TV since i cut the cord back in 2017..freakin LOOVIN it & gets better an better .. piss on the rest of those Kamel jockey ones, they have less channels, locals & sports ,then so they cheaper, so DUH!
Merry Christmas Luke. This is even more incentive to not invest in TH-cam TV and fubo. I get that they are looking to increase their revenue, but I will not be their customer. My TV antenna still works and will continue to use it. Thanks for sharing.🎄🧑🎄
Unless you like watching old reruns, black and white TV and more recent programs from 1990's and early 2000"s Over the air TV may not be option that satisfies all viewers. You may be able to pick up some networks like Fox but many stations switched their frequency making it harder to pick up with indoor antenna
TH-cam TV is a bait and switcher. We signed up when they had our RSN. Then they dumped NESN, and we dumped TH-cam TV. They just became a copy of cable tv, shoving the same garbage down our throats.
And with the price increases they are closing in to the price of TV with say Comcast or Spectrum TV if those are your internet provider.. I have city owned Gas + Electric fiber. So, I had to have something if I wanted channels. I went with YT TV until August 2020 when it went to 65 a month.
When TH-cam TV and Hulu live TV and all those others start getting their prices to where they're all over $100, and they will eventually, then I think they should no longer be allowed to compare themselves to cable assuming cable is still even around at this point.
The stations want TH-cam to be classified as a cable company because then they're subject to the same carriage rules and payment as cable companies. And many cable companies are dropping their service in favour of TH-cam TV.
My dad was looking for a new TV, and I specifically told him not to buy a Roku TV over not agreeing to the Terms of Service bricking your TV. So he didn’t buy one.
We need Less Regulations. Local stations are not worth the additional fees that require negotiating will mean Higher prices. If we need local news or weather, it's online FREE !! If it's network content, we can subscribe to the network we want directly.
Network channels shouldn't get anything from the streaming or cable companies, as the channels are free if you use an ota antenna. Their revenue for ads is based off viewers, therefore more viewers they get more revenue.
Yup. The same with Fire TVs. But it's becoming increasingly more difficult to find a not-smart TV. Just go with it and use it until it breaks or doesn't keep up, then buy and use a separate streaming device.
@deniseg8312 If you disagree with Roku term of service, they will disable your TV. If you have a device, you can use your TV and another brand of streaming device.
I think the local affiliates do not realize they are nothing without the big four networks. The programming and sports they bring to the local broadcasters are why they make enough money to exist. They still get their ad dollars for most of their programming hours. Ultimately the big four will just broadcast their shows at the same time as they now do ota. Then the affiliates will have nothing
I NOTICE prime is charging TV old series ,like, In plain sight What going on? I wanted a Christmas cartoon, and I had to pay. My prime is from Amazon delivery. I just go to another Co. And find it for free.
i've noticed that too. some streaming services charge for the same content that some services have for free. you have to search across multiple apps for everything. it's a mess.
Amazon Prime is probably charging for more content because they promised employees free Amazon Prime membership starting in January 2025. This was announced six months ago. The devil is in the details about free prime. I knew there would be a catch to anything that is offered for free. So far, I have not heard anything else about the free prime for Amazon associates.
While it is easy to blame the TV services for the higher costs (first cable TV, now premium live TV streaming), much of this is being directed by the channels and content providers themselves. You want one particular channel? Well, guess what? You must pay for a bunch of their other channels. They are not going to allow al a carte TV unless viewers are willing to pay a high price for just that one channel. Cheap al a carte TV is now a delusion. I wish it weren't the case.
Yes i know there are some infrastructure costs, but so much of it is already in and can't be huge to maintain. I see cable/fibre as the best way to send content. Think wired, no net to count on. Remember when we had wired phones? They worked, just pick up the receiver. But for some reason the cable companies don't want to compete. So we are being pushed to net tv. Not the best way to send content.

I think it would be a lot more logical for the cable companies to negotiate under the same rules as the streaming services. And ALL cable companies and streaming services should be able to offer a lower priced tier without the locals. Yeah, I know, I'm dreaming.
