I drove this car last year as a rental when i was in Melbourne. Literally one of the best cars i have ever driven. I have VW GTI, 330i, Mazda 6…the ride on this thing with 19in wheels was very composed and stable at the same time. Engine power never felt lacking, and the car was very quiet on the road. Aussie speed limit of 110kph does not do this car justice. It was difficult not to exceed that number since the car behaved very very well. 100kph felt like 60 in most other cars. Steering was fantastic, very direct, and interior quality was exceptional (even for this rental car). Shame it did not have the panoramic sunroof.

Looks good, what I find impressive it the low weight of 1385kg which is very impressive for a modern 2021 midside to large sedan/fastback with such modern safety requirements and trim level this car has.
The 100-0 breaking time/distance and negative accelation g-force seem to reflect this too.
Given it grip, wheelbase and track dimetions for it's weight it seems like this would be quite a competent handeling vechile on a B road, not overly powerful or sporty feeling but the type of normal appearing vechile they you can just keep pushing higher corner speeds without complaining where the limits are much higher then one may suspect.

    • @ssssssss6889
      @ssssssss6889 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

The car in the video have 8 gears. Having more gears is an advantage when it comes to keep the engine running on a narrower rev band which returns better fuel economy and is more efficient on rolling accelerations while it's a disadvantage on a standing start. I would think the accord reach 100 km on the second gear while this one surely in 3rd. An addtional gear change is a huge disadvantage in this exercise. After all, who cares about 0-100????? Do you take off full throttle from the lights and plan to gain seconds there??
I am pretty sure that the car tested would have better acceleration figures with a 5 or 6 spd transmission. The purpose of having 8 gears is just for optimization of fuel consumption. Otherwise, it does not really need 8 gears with 224 hp and 1345 kg. I drove a Saab 9-5 aero for years that had 250 hp and 1500 kg. 5 gears were doing fine.
With that kind of power/weight ratio, 5 or 6 gears at most are fine to pull the best performances ( acceleration let's say). More gears is for fuel economy.

Some interesting comparison to Mazda 6 2.5t with172kw/420nm
    0-60:
    508:4.08
    Mazda: 3.42
    0-100:
    508:8.27
    Mazda:7.16
    60-110:
    508:5.25

I remember from way back when I had my gen2 MR2, if I did't shift into 2nd right before the limiter, I wouldn't get good numbers. I assume shifting 1st/2nd and 2nd/3rd at ~6k, would result in 7.x sec times.

Nobody ever said it was "sooo important". It's just interesting (to some people, including us) to see how machinery performs across a comparable standard, a reference point, specifically in terms of acceleration. Obviously 0-100 doesn't tell the full story of any car.

I don't know, but it seems like power is reduced in the low gears. Full power seems to come after a certain speed or gear, meaning it is disproportionately quicker after a certain speed. I noticed it shfits very earls from 1st to 2nd and early from 2nd to 3rd. I remember something that Mercedes did something similar with the W211 320 cdi. It had reduced torque in 1st gear to not overly stress the drivetrain, but don"t quote me on that.
