This is a really nice design, although I think 16mm MDF adds a lot of unnecessary weight. 9mm ply would have been suitable for a lot of this and a saved a lot of weight.
Nice job, thinking about buying a Delica , only thing holding me back is the lack of serviceable parts in the UK as they were never officially sold in the uk, suspension is also my worry as I feel once all that weight is in it may need up rated springs , tho I thought of mounting a roof top tent
@@DronerLife the 2.8 yes is the same , but there is so much more prop shafts drive shafts, trims that wear out , im guessing the 3.0 and 2.4 engines must be used in other vehicles , i still would like one lots of research to be done i think first but the delica does tick lots of boxes for a travel camper

Thanks simon! 😃 the 16mm white mdf sheets here in aussie were around $80 if im not wrong. Used 4 white sheets and 1 raw which is $60. The link for download is in description. Tried few minutes ago and worked, can you try downloading from the link? If doesnt work pls let me know i will upload again 😉
Really neat build and kudos for doing it in cardboard first to test. I could not figure sketchup. What are the internal heights you were working with in that model Delica to determine seat and bench heights?
Hi christopher, the plans are available for download in the video description. I used the sw sketchup to visualize. I dont have the dimensions in a 2d plans, but sketchup isnt that hard to use though.
I've checked out your plans and they are great. I also love the kitchen design. Great work! It looks like I have the same van and I'm keen to make a similar design for the folding bench/bed. However, I wanted to get your thoughts on head clearance when sitting on the bed. It looks like the base of your bench is 36cm/14" and with the mattress it's 47cm/18.5" Does this provide enough head clearance when sitting in the van? I am not tall (172cm) and when I measured head clearance, I calculated that my bench could only be about 34cm/13.5" tall or else my head hits the top of the van in the centre part (there is more room in the crystal light roof section). I would love to hear your thoughts.
Hey Max glad to know you liked it! Yes the base is 36cm but i had to make a thinner mattress with 6cm (and the foam got to be bit harder too) so i could fit sitting on it. As you can see in 3:30 of the video, im sitting on the sofa (same height as when bed is set) but i can only fit on the side, as the centre part is too low for me, im 6'3. On the crystal light section i dont hit the head but am about to, maybe 1cm away. Please also mind that my Delica is high roof model, check if yours is the same
@@DronerLife awesome. I appreciate the feedback. I think I’ll make mine a bit lower for comfort. I know that I lose storage space below but I am OK with that. Yes, I have the high roof as well :) happy camping!
