Hard to believe somebody as established, beloved, and easy to work with as Jackie Chan still suffers from the same thing Bruce Lee disliked the most about the movie industry. Neither of them can get cast as anything other than action karate stars. People always say they miss Bruce Lee because he died too young and had more to offer. Jackie's older now, let's not make the same mistake by not giving him the chance to be what he wants to be, a "true actor."

He have done both romantic movies and dramas in hong kong many times sins the 80s and are a big popstar in whole asia and if Chan really wanted to make romantic movies for real in america he would have made it happend a long time ago and the ladies would stand in line but he is a kung fu master sins he was a child and have a big passion for martial arts,action and stunts.This man are doing what he loves and if he was serious all the top amercian actresses and big directors would have stand in line for a great romatic script for him.Thats how big and respected this amazing genius,martial arts legend and great actor is.

the scene in the foreigner where jackie was hugging his daughter while crying got me tearing up. he really is the best actor out there. more directors really need to see what jackie can do rather than comedy. he deserves way more as a talented loving humble man. i grew up watching his movies since young and I really hope he'll live long.

+moh amine When I first heard it, I was thinking so, too, which is more just partially true, I mean...yeah, the movies did get worse as they went on, but not really because of Jackie Chan, and more kind of because of Chris Tucker, but not because he's bad, or doing anything worse, but more 'cause he does the same with every movie. Even then, you can't really get an awful feeling from these movies because none of them are really that painful, imo. Aside from that, I think Jackie Chan more or less has a harder time making them.

His son is potentially a drug dealer, and due to his good relationship with the Chinese government his son was set free. I really love his self-deprecating humor. Not many people can laugh at themselves the way he does! Also Jackie wanted to do any non-action roles, and not just romantic ones. And nobody will ever doubt his physical comedy chops! He's quite good in some Chinese drama movies.I hope that he'd get some dramatic roles in Hollywood, as well!

I dunno why he would say he wants to be a true actor because he's already one. I saw that trailer for the Foreigner and there is a look of pain and fury in his eyes which I've never seen in a lot of Hollywood actors. If you took away the violence and explosions you'd swear it was a Wong Kar Wai flick. Also, I would love to see Jackie Chan in a Wong Kar Wai drama.

He isn't a true actor in hollywood. To westerners, he's just another martial arts master suited for action movies. A rare asian face in a sea of black and white faces. He will never have the chance to break away from action movies or evolve as an actor and will always be known for slapstick humor in america.

And that's why the Rush Hour trilogy doesn't have the same level of creativity in its action scenes as other Hollywood films like John Wick 1&2 or Jackie's Hong Kong classics such as the Police Story series.
