  • Myanmar Rebels Fire Drones at Capital, Dares Ruling Junta | Vantage with Palki Sharma
    Myanmar's rebels fired drones at the capital in a symbolic and daring attack against the country's ruling junta. While the rebels claim the attacks caused casualties, the junta has rejected this claim. Myanmar's rebels, led by the government-in-exile, claim to control over 60% of the country after launching successful military operations last year. Though military experts agree that the junta has faced setbacks, they are wary of the regime's superior military arsenal, including fighter jets and missiles. UN data suggests that the junta has bought weapons worth $1 billion since coming to power in a military coup in 2021. Can the rebels overthrow the junta? Where does this internal conflict leave neighbours like India? Palki Sharma tells you.

    It’s a difficult proposition for India. On the one hand it seems like India should throw its weight behind the people. But on the other hand, look around India’s neighbourhood, most of them ungrateful - Bangladesh, Maldives and Sri Lanka. Some of them shouting, ‘India out’.
    However, as an emerging power and china’s adversary, India could subtly test some of its system against the Chinese equipment supplied to the Junta.

      Here are my views on Manipur conflict :-
      Meiteis are never at fault, they are demanding their rights. Which they should be given without a second thought. The kukis who migrated from Myanmar to Manipur have the ST status but Ethnic indigenous Meiteis do not have ST statues in their own Ancestral land?? Wow. This is incredible.
      Will The Nagas in Nagaland and Mizos in Mizoram accept it, if the Jatts from punjab and Haryana settle in Nagaland and Mizoram? Furthermore they would get the ST status and they could buy Naga and Mizo land, but Naga and Mizos can't buy their land and at the same time Nagas and Mizos no longer remain ST??
      .
      This was the ethnicity angle of this conflict. Lets look at thr religious angle.
      The Kukis are all Christians. Meiteis are mostly Hindus/Sanamahi. Nagas are also all Christians.
      In the past Nagas and Kukis had huge conflicts. They always used to fight. But today both these communities are Christians and Nagas stand with Kukis just because of the religions. Even Mizos stand with Kukis because they are also christians. But the Hindus in Mainland India are still stuck in the stupidity of secularism, tolerance, they are talking about peace, they are talking from both sides. Meanwhile Nagas and Mizos have picked their side. This is why Hindus in India convert to other religions because they do not get any support from other hindus or from their own government. How much will hindus suffer. It's been 1000 years of sufferings. Kitna ki koi sahega? Is-se accha hinduism hi chhod do aur Muslim ya Christian ban kar chain se raho.

They're not under NUG. They don't recognized NUG as their leader. NUG usually tried to take the name. Salute to brave local PDFs of every State but to NUG, no way.

    To put the record straight, the previous MNDAA administration was propped up by the junta and for this ethnic army to engage in illegal scamming activities, they had to pay the very senior Ministers at the Home Ministry in bribes, amounting to millions of dollars per month. Unfortunately, most of the victims were Chinese nationals. When the Chinese government forced the junta to take decisive action, the junta had no choice but to take their then-MNDAA minions under detention and handed them over to the Chinese authorities. The new MNDAA authorities were set up by their own ethnics after defeating the Junta during the recent revolution. According to the then MNDAA confessions, the MNDAA had to bribe not only the head of police under the Home Ministry but also the military regional head under the North East Command. These officers are now under detention by the military junta. Truth be told.

    No doubt this troubled State’s Army Coup of Feb ‘21 has caused a huge social upheaval which become too hard to fix back since it become a war between total population (all National Races) against the Army.
    Based on the mindsets of contentious warring parties, one could anticipate ‘worst case scenarios’ such as:-
    1. Myanmar crisis had turned into a full-blown civil war (National Army Vs Citizens);
    2. Crisis could become slaughter house (typical of Cambodia's 'Killing Fields' 45 years ago with 1.7 million killed)
