- Classic Game Room reviews DONKEY KONG JUNIOR arcade machine from 1982 by Nintendo. It's hard to imagine Nintendo making arcade machines, especially for Donkey Kong Jr.! DK Jr. was a super-popular videogame on home consoles like the NES Nintendo Entertainment System, Atari 2600, Atari 7800 and ColecoVision. This CGR video review of Donkey Kong Jr. features a Donkey Kong Jr. video game arcade machine from the arcades showing Donkey Kong Jr gameplay in HD action from PAPA World Headquarters.
I love the sounds of this game
i played this at a pizza hut like 2 months ago...
im surprised they still had it
Those buttons make a very satisfying click.
Yay, I grew up with this stuff before I had my first NES (Atari @ home since day 1 of my memories, lol). Never played it on Arcade though, my first Arcades were games like Street Fighter II, Cadillacs & Dinosaurs and Final Fight.
Man, I love these reviews so much. ;-)
I remember how excited I was when they put this game in the little mini-arcade that was in our local 7-11... You would have to wait 10-20 minutes to play the game because people were lined up to play the successor to the wildly popular Donkey Kong.
I loved this on NES growing up
lol, minimalistic games award goes to Classic Game Room.
No software filter shader is ever able to provide this fantastic blurred plasma screen styled graphics. stunning. awhhsome. the cabinet is a masterpiece, you could place your soda bottle and school books on the controls panel and there is still enough room left to read to full instruction manual printed on the panel itself.
gotta love the arcade buttons sound
Ahh the memories and the money lost on DK Jr, in the arcade, one of several Nintendo machines I blew through my allowance on back in the day, good times!
My local arcade has this its haaaard
this machines are pretty rare; it wasn't too big of a hit compared to it's predecessor and many were turned into later Nintendo arcade games including both Mario Bros. and Super Mario Bros. I have personally only seen maybe 2 real DKJ arcade cabinets in the last 25 years.
It was actually veryvery very STUPID from Nintendo that they delivered mod kits for arcade owners to convert their Nintendo game cabinets into donkeykong 3 cabinets nintendo also converted many sky skippier arcade cabinets into popeye cabinets, and while i do understand that it was much cheaper to do that BUT they were actually moddifying their own creations,i know that radar scope sucked nintendo’s own money and blood like a muscito so in that regard they had no other choice then turning cabinets into donkeykong ones to make cash from it(thus turning their own tradh into cash),but still,,,
I never knew that a lot of the enemies from Donkey Kong Country (alligators and birds) were from this game.
Donkey Kong Jr. is my favorite game. I've been playing it since I was 5 or so.
Awesome game, beautiful cabinet and excelent conservation!
I was a SEGA kid, so I've never played any of the console versions of DONKEY KONG JR., but I did have the Nintendo Game & Watch fixed-screen LCD version of it.
This was a tough game!
Thank you PAPA and Mark :)
@ 2:24 "Get away from me!" hahaha
They have that at Disneyland! And basically every popular 70s-80s arcade machine
This is the first time I've watched Classic Game Room HD in HD
Finally the man behind the AWESOME voice :D
Loved the game, hope we can see a review of Black Tiger, soon. :D
I've occasionally run into these Junior sized arcades. Some kind of notion about fitting an arcade into a third the size space. As I remember, the smaller cabinets didn't sell so well.
One that I have seen recently was a Tekken. Crazy thing is so short, one need to sit at a bench to reach the controls. O_o
Amazing
for some reason I am craving a Whopper Jr. right now
hitachicordoba SAME!
Same
I want monkey brains.
@@Lightblue2222 Temple of Doom reference, NICE!!!
i have this on the the gameboy advanced e-reader. its quite amazing
@InecomCompany most of the Nintendo cabinets were all in the same size and style. Most of the Nintendo games came as kits to modify games such as Radar Scope to Donkey Kong, etc. I think they are all short. Other than double monitor Nintendo cabinets.
Never seen the ending of the arcade version before. I'm used to seeing Mario die with a halo above his head from the NES :P.
I grew up playing this in the pizzeria when they have the table arcade
Just like on Donkey Kong, it was game over for me after 90 seconds, and 1/4 of my pocket money for the week gone.
I loved that game
More arcade machine reviews please! :)
Mark: I've been on my knee's all day playin with donkey kong jrs joystick! ITS HARD WORK!!!
Wife: 0.o
The sequence of the snappers and birds is the same each game thus allowing a proficient player to rack up high scores easily by memorizing the movement patterns.
my favorite sequel game of the time because it was nothing like the original DK
I just posted a gameplay of the Atari 2600 version... I wish I was playing that arcade version right about now. :)
You know a Game is Badass when it plays Toccata and Fugue in 8-bit :D
4:00
my neighbor has this arcade machine very fun but brutally challenging
We have a table version of DK JR.
If they would re-release the cabinets without restyling them, that would be AWESOME !
@wylecoyote65 LOL 1:13 "and this is the 1st time I've ever played".................comedy genius!!!!
thank god Classic Game Room videos don't operate on tokens or i'd be broke
Nintendo still licences games for arcade releases, namco has released Mario Kart as a arcade cabinet, you should do a review of that
You sir are doing it right.
Nintendo should release the arcade versions of Donkey Kong and Donkey Kong Jr on Virtual Console!
You should review the little table top Donkey Kong Jr arcade game. Good luck getting one though, eBay perhaps....
Has he done Modern Warfare: Reflex? I dont have it but im wondering about 360 or Wii version.
Mark is huge !!! Im the same size of the machine xD
Do they rent apartments at PAPA?
Looks like that cabinet was originally a Donkey Kong Machine, and no, they did not make different cabinet sizes (although Donkey Kong Jrs came in a nicer Orange Colour).
All of the old nintendo games came in that same cabinet, granted thats a blue donkey kong cab whereas Dk Jr. came in a bright orange one.
@MegaMuffindude
Just seen Donkey Kong and Jr side by side. Donkey Kong cabinet was blue and Jr cabinet was orange.
@HornetFellow I do too, but this is still fun
Maybe Wario was impersonating Mario in DK jr. Because we all know Mario could never be a bad guy.
Toccata and Fugue...
IN 8 BITS!
BADASS!
Wait are you from Pennsylvania? please someone reply
Is PAPA in PA?
Good One,RottenReos
Joysticks are the way to go with all games. Game pads are for plebes. To bad we didn't get to see the 3rd room with the sparks. I forget the name of the room.
seeing the adds of people playing video games with their parents makes me think about how my parents used to play video games but dont anymore. wen i have kids someday, i will make sure i play video games with them =)
Saving papa at PAPA.
man, if i was rich i'd have a room just full of arcade machines...
You have a a big house!
I played this back in the 80s and I tell you it's more challenging thank donkey kong
that's because its more broken/buggy than DK
I have one! But it's harrrd. I've only gotten up to level 3.
Mario as a bad guy....no ignorant Wii youth can ever imagine that Mario ever had such a role! They live in their own little world! xD
how tall are you?
Stop saying Mario is a bad guy in Donkey Kong Jr. I told he's not on the Atari 7800 review!
It's not just the cabinet, the joystick is tiny too!
@BRiTDRAG2 R u 4 real. That was an amazing game!!!
Was that the cabaret or were Nintendo uprights just tiny?
i think this was released before they became buddies.
they have a machine at loews theater at the waterfront
InecomCompany you look like someone i use to work around.
2:34 ITS CHARLIE SHEEN! lol
mario was a little kid back then he was bad now hes good
He's done bullying Yoshi at this point?
Mark looks like Steve Wiebe lol
@TheRooster94 True that.
@Broyale26 of course
1 person meant to hit like
Used to have this and Joust in a cafe in my town. I wish I would have offered to buy em both before they closed that place down. Who knows where they are now.
@TheRooster94 wii used them pretty good in Metroid Prime 3.
cool babe
I couldn't play this machine. I'm 6 foot 8. The machine's too damn short!
Some times I wonder if I'm playing the game or is game playing me xD.
There is a KILL SCREEN coming up...if anyone is interested. Kill screen coming up.
😍
I am still waiting for the arcade versions to make it to home. The Wii should have every arcade game they ever made. Probably never going to happen. Very sad. Popeye, The Original Mario Bros, Donkey Kong, where are you?
1:03 FUNKAY!!!!
Looks like a donkey kong converted into a jr.
When do 6-year-olds have girlfriends and chase after giant monkeys?
But then again, I don't really remember when Donkey Kong was first released.
alright, first one to thumbs up a coment...i like pretending to be a carrot while i'm alone too. yeah :lD
I miss DKJr. He needs to come back.
CGR gets mty high score every time.
Steve Wiebe clone! He'd be proud.
@trumpeter811 Don't give them any ideas! We could get screwed!
at 0:57 is that mario ????
@chuckfulpingnorris
HAHAHAH
shit that made me rofl xD
Little arcade with black light... Miss places like that.
