Just think that no one will ever travel to the planet shown so far. I am staggered! This is going to be one of the best games I will ever play, it has that vibe, you know, I don't know how to describe it, the colours, the planets, the animals, the soundtrack. It is just amazing!

You play on a persistent universe where your planet (even if nobody ever returns to see it) still exists after you move on to the next one. You can make an impact on that star system. You might participate in a space battle between factions for control over the star system, and there are other star system wide changes that are yet to be discovered.

these guys give more love to the game they make then creators and developers from COD or AC for example. So you know it will be a good game instead of copy paste and let people pay for stupid DLC's

I just turned 50 a few days ago. The very first screenshot I ever saw of No Mans Sky, my first thought was the covers of the Sci Fi novels my Dad would read in the 60s and 70s. All I did was stare at the covers at first, then I started reading them. So when I saw my first videos of No Mans, I was just transported and hooked. Its been a while since I got really excited about a game, but Sean's vision has sucked me in. Pre-ordered already and cant wait.

Sean Murray is truly and amazing person with so to give to the gaming community and the world in general. His idea for this game is amazing and I can't wait to go to the store and pick up my copy go home pick up a ps4 controller and make my own destiny
People may ask so many question and be mad and the developers for not releasing any details and to be honest I love that. I love the fact they want to hold all the secrets of what you can do until you get into the game . This makes it even better and the hype train had not stopped yet for me.

This has given me hope that I may find another home in a persistent universe such as the metaverse's I used to play on that have since died off. I am so incredibly happy this is happening now rather than when I hit my late 20's or early 30's and locked in a full time job.
At a point my excitment for this game was about average, but this boosted it up, back into the sky's.
Not only the game in itself looks amazing, but the music... WOW hope it will be the same in the gameplay as it is in the trailers and behind-the-scenes. Both relaxing and mysterious, kinda Skyrim ost but Sci-Fi.

Wow this is great!!!! Really loved the idea that they want to put a booklet with it's own story. Reminds me to the old games that brought a booklet and I used to read it while installing the game and gave me much more hype to play the game.

I was already sold, but damn, a silly little thing like including a book with the game (which used to be included no matter what) sells me even more. I love the idea that you can be a smuggler or an anthropologist or a pirate. I can' t wait.
If I think too much about the lore behind this game it makes me feel like I'm pulling a brain muscle.

+Galkaman I'm kinda eh about the sound track 65 is an ok post rock band. They have some good songs but usually more than half of their albums is just distortiony noise. Supermoon is good though I hope the rest is like it but I will wait on the album

there should be a story to every planet with bioshock type voice recordings. Imagine if certain planets were just so damn scary with its creatures, you would just wanna pack up and leave.

I heard that its multiplayer but like even if u did manage to get a group in one place it would only show one or 2 people as its to much but im not sure of i believe that cause its all one universe so we should all be able to see each other if we went to same place
All this talk about creating "your" story which is misleading because "your" infers that your character is unique. That in itself is misleading because there is no character customization of any kind in NMS.
Players will tire quickly of this game due to lack of customization, no actual content or direction, and rare player interaction.
You are your character. Your experiences in the game will be different from everybody else. Only you will see the things you have seen in your playthrough. It is your story to share.
When will the Art book be available in Canada???
Well I was just about to preorder this on Steam, but not any more because I want the little book and the comic. Unless these things are the playstation exclusive content.

+Miranda DeCardinal That depends on how well the procedural environment is implemented and presented to the player. If it's too simplistic, it won't budge the meter for other developers to take a second look. I'm actually more hyped for the way Star Citizen is going to implement it's vision of procedurally generated worlds. That game seems to be going down the road of realism versus fantasy and over saturation of color. At the moment, I believe the way SC is going about it will produce more change than No Man's Sky.
+Rickbearcat I don't know because star citizen will only have 100 explorable star systems with only portions of planets accessible. Which is understandable since they are doing it by hand. But if NMS gets the lore, procedural generation, and gameplay right it will be a massive game and possibly blow SC out of the water, which will prove that an indie dev can do anything against a studio who has gotten funded massively...I'm rooting for the underdogs at hello games
+HiZzen RekT As to your first sentence; it isn't about the number of procedurally generated planets, but the quality of those planets. I'd rather have 1 planet rich in things to do and see than 18 quintillion boring ones. Let's hope they both succeed in their own way!
Rickbearcat from what we've seen so far the planets have plenty of stuff to do on them, diving, survival, exploring, alien AI that we can talk to, monoliths to learn certain languages, resource gathering, flying your ship through canyons, getting money on those planets, weather effects, procedurally generated animals which will all be different, certain toxins on certain planets. Sure their will be barren planets with nothing on them but even those will be interesting to explore with super cool landscapes and resources to gather.
***** I have zero interest in bashing one game over another. That's unproductive and doesn't lead to anything constructive. It will lead to making enemies instead of friends.

+James Hunter Too true. I was a happy chap when I found out he was doing something with HG for No Man's sky. Rogue was a really great strip, wasn't to keen when they revamped it with Friday instead of Rogue, but was still good. But then again, pretty much all 2000ad strips were cool and the adaptations they done were great :D

+flyingfajitas Skyrim is almost the antithesis of No Man's Sky. It's got invisible walls, immersion-breaking NPCs, fetch quests, etc. It's a great game, but it doesn't have nearly as much freedom as No Man's Sky will.

Technically no. You can play it on single payer mode I believe though. As you can imagine the scale of this universe is so massive that finding people in multiplayer is very rare, which makes it seem like a single payer game anyway.
That's what I recall being said so I found it strange when steam listed it as single player. If there is multiplayer, regardless of how unlikely players will meet, it should be listed on steam correctly.
