As early as 1993, production of five replica Me 262s began in the USA with the help of drawing fragments and an original two-seater training aircraft. All parts had to be newly manufactured and no original parts were used. Equipped with modern engines and subsytems from American production, the first aircraft from the series flew for the first time on 20 December 2022 in Seattle, Washington State. This aircraft, owned by the Messerschmitt Foundation, had its maiden flight on 15 August 2005 in Seattle, and after a short flight it was disassembled, packed and shipped by air freight to Manching, its new home at the Flugmuseum Messerschmitt in Germany. -RIAT web info
