Very enjoyable video, Gary and kudos as well to the eminent camera lady for her solid observations and questions that wound up yielding even more insight from you. My rules of acceptance are pretty simple: 1. Book must be intact and readable. 2. Cover art not excessively obscured, e.g. wrinkles, minor creases are ok, but no obtrusive markings or fading. So not too strict as my priorities are to read and display every book I purchase so “normal” wear and tear doesn’t bother me.
Hey, is there any chance you can link to the other book collector channels on YT you enjoy watching? I already am a Jules Burt faithful, but you mentioned two more? Recommendations from favorite channels are the best way to discover more.

Thanks for your comments and the camera lady very happy. I will link the others as soon as i figure how to do it. Phil Harbottle has a channel called 60s science fiction; Michael K Vaughan i think you cN find

Very informative Gary, thank you for this video. I knew nothing of Hillary Waugh (“If I Live to Dine”) but apparently he became a Grand Master by way of the MWA and was a pioneer in the field of the meticulously presented police procedural/hard boiled genre.

He is. Classic mystery author, rather neglected today i fear.

Great video, Gary. One common flaw that I really hate are price blackouts. The book can be perfect yet some dimwit reseller has blacked out the price on either the cover and/or the spine. Having collected many years (though not as long as you I imagine) I've seen everything as well when it comes to condition flaws. Great point about sellers on ABE you made; ever notice how many sellers there do not even list the book number? For completist like me, that can be irritating. Funny too is how if you're selling a great condition copy of something at a reasonable price and you quote that price to a self-described collector and they reply: "Too much. I'll find it out in the wild." (Nothing screams "rookie" to me more than that saying.)

Stiv , thanks for your comments, there is a. Book store here that gouges, blackouts , scraped out the original price, destroying the book. I told them many times nit to do that, to price with a light pencil, but they do not listen, so i do not go there any more. What can we do.
