Hi Gary I was wondering if any of these would be for sale? Would love to buy and add to my PC as I love Bruce Timm’s work
I am honored to say that I was a student of Dr. Symmes C. Oliver (Chad Oliver) in the Anthropology program at The University of Texas at Austin in the late 1980's. He was an incredible person and the most captivating story teller that I have ever had the joy of listening to.
@@scottedelen wow, i envy you knowing him!
There are a handful of other Dan Marlow books that Black Lizard put out, including The Name of the Game is Death.
Watching again. 😊
Love classic trek.. you can have the new woke trek..where they respond to the captain saying..cool.. 😢
@@user-randyvaughn yes in my opinion the original is the best.
Thanks for telling this story about Bruce Timm. I love his work and have a rough prelim for Black Lake.
Another great episode, Gary! Aside from Shack Road Girl (I have the Shack Road digest), I own the Whittingtons, and also Renegade Cop, which surprisingly turned up cheap here in the UK. I'd also never previously seen many of these titles; so, many thanks for bringing them to my attention.
@@davidhyman7566 David, thank you, all best to you for 2025!
Congrats on 2000! You are my favorite book channel and the first one I ever watched.
@@TheBookGraveyard thank you so much, very kind of you to say so.
Buon Natale to my paisan Gary Lovisi and Mrs. Gary! You guys do up Brooklyn well for your celebration, keep the books and invaluable info coming in and keep giving back some peace on Earth. Merry Happy! Thanks for being in my 2024! -Glen
@@ProfessorEchoMedia Glen, thank you and all the best to you in 2025!
For What it's worth, Philip Van Doren Stern made at least one pretty significant contribution as a fiction writer -- he wrote "The Greatest Gift," which was the short story that the film "It's A Wonderful Life" was based on. Merry Christmas, and thanks so much for these videos, Gary.
@@hemingwaynro thank you and all best to you.
Nice collection😊
Great covers. I don't understand why most publishers are so lazy and cheap with the cover art and design!
@@essenceflow i know. It seems to be a more modern approach, but I don’t like it, too generic and blasie.
Yoi!! Beautiful books!😯
Gary, congrats on the 2K subscribers! Exquisite collection, so iconic-love the quintessentially named western titles. Incredible to see William Faulkner’s name, famous for “The Sound and the Fury” (!) Merry Christmas to you and Lucille and all the best to you both in the coming new year! -Michael
@@historybuff66 Michael, all the best to you!
FINALLY. Have been waiting to see that complete run of Berkley Diamonds, Gary. Alas, even after MY almost fifty years of collecting, I only own six of them. Maybe I shouldn't have wasted so many years getting all of the first 1000 Gold medal titles...
@@StivNagen Stiv, glad you liked the video. Having the first 1000 Gold Medals is a heck of an accomplishment!
@@garylovisi357 They were quite easy, actually...compared to my efforts trying to get all the Allstars and Novel Books!
Yikes, correction note: most of these were digests, but not all.
Very cool! Thanks for showing those to us, Gary!
@@SubtropicBob thank you, glad you liked them.
Beautiful collection! I'm envious!
I appreciate your channel M. Lovisi. Thx u for all yours vidéos. A French Follower, Roland. And Merry Christmas to you and your family. 🎄🎅

Here in Texas it gets humid gets , even in December, it's been raining a lot and it's humid.
@@Vinylrebel72 mot good conditions for books, if you have a large collection a dehumidifer might help.
I have one from 1924-what was was that?
Space Prison is the single best SF novel I have read in 65 years. Space Barbarians was ok. There was talk of making Space Prison into a movie. What a story! Thanks for your review.
@@ILParr thank you, two great books!
I only have a few of those...these are nice.
Splendid collection, Gary. These Penguin editions are slightly reminiscent of the minimalist art design of graphics designer Saul Bass. Thanks for the video! -Michael
@@historybuff66 glad you liked it. Robert Jonas did a lot of the covers and he was a great guy who i knew and interviewed.
Lovely collection Gary🙂
John Gunnison used to come to Toronto for the pulp show here.
Thanks Gary, enjoyed the tour🙂
Amazing stuff in there! Thanks for the tour, Mr. Lovisi.
Very cool show, Gary. The original artwork is simply phenomenal.
@@historybuff66 yes, Gil Cohen is a terrific artist. Glad you enjoyed the video.
Great video ... however, this was VERY early in the day. Not sure doors had opened to the public. By 11 am, the room looked better ... and more set-up.
@@richharvey9153 yes, it was early but with all the people and noise it makes it more difficult to shoot a video. It was a fine show, thanks for putting it on, Rich.
Oh, this makes me wish I travelled more as I definitely would go to one of these. Im in the UK and picked up some great stuff at a vintage pulp and paperback fair in London a couple of weeks ago, they are always great fun.
@@hognatius_valentine9057 i love doing these shows. The people are great. You have terrific shows in the UK.
This is so fun! I could have easily watched an hour of you going through there

I just got me copy of PP #122, It's fascinating, as usual! Kudos and congrats on 38 years of publishing one of the best fanzines ever, Gary! Another great layout by Rich Greene. Cheers to you both!
@@SubtropicBob thank you, Rich and i are busy working on the next issue, keeping busy. Kudos to you for your great Men’s Adventure Quarterly!
Many thanks for that video preview and review of MAQ #11, Gary - and for the great article you contributed about vintage SPACE-SPLOITATION paperbacks! Cheers!
@@SubtropicBob Bob, thank you and for letting me be a part of the magazine.
Love the banter with the camera operator
@@teenagefc i have to fire her, she gets a bit snippy at times.
Gary, a very enjoyable video. “The Worlds of If” covers are among my very favorite for magazine illustration, given that the emphasis was on hard science fiction, focused on space exploration and technical hardware. In fact, many of the covers are a near dead ringer for paintings done by space artist Chesley Bonestell. You may have noticed that the Charles Beaumont story contained in one of the issues (“The Jungle”) served as the basis of an early episode of “The Twilight Zone”.
@@historybuff66 thanks for your feedback. Bonestall is one of my favorites. I like the hard science fiction of the 50 s and 60s. The stories were so good and so original.
I really enjoyed your overview of the issues of Worlds of If you have. I've been collecting issues of Amazing Stories and Fantastic, mainly for Ted White's editorial run from the late 60s through the late 70s, and I agree with you that some of these are becoming more collectible as some of the issues are harder to locate than others, and prices do vary. Seeing what you showed off with Worlds of If, I think I'm going to add those issues as ones to be on the lookout for. I not only enjoy the stories, but I also like reading the editorials and the reader's letters. Lots of gold in those old issues.
@@TacitusJones yes lots of gold reading in those issues. I love all the mags Ted White edited, he was very good and with a very limited budget. These are already classics. Glad you enjoyed the video.
Wonderful to have you back, Gary, doing what you love. Cool photos from the TV series I enjoyed watching in my youth, “The Invaders” and “UFO” Looking forward to hopefully some book hauls soon as well! -Michael
