In the early 40s an american woman paid Gurdjieff a private visit in his Paris apartment. She said to him , "all my life I've made a big outward success of everything I do , my career , my marriage , my family , now I have reached the age of fifty and I discover that I have never been truly happy and content during my life. In fact , my inner world has been one of stress and turmoil. Will you help me ?" He looked at her compassionately , long and hard , and finally said , "not for one moment in your life do you know your real "I". Your true self. I show you how." Source , Louis Pauwels , Monsieur Gurdjieff.
Studying the order of laws that are closest to us is the study of the laws we oppose on our selves and for others. Could it be that what he said? Very nice you showing up, greeting for Lara 😊
By seeing a weakness in someone's personality , which they cannot see themselves , which prevents them from being who they really are , and prevents them from fulfilling their potential , esoterically and for the work itself , Gurdjieff would attack that weakness , exposing it , mercilessly. And as Tracol noted , this can truly be called love. Perhaps nothing else can. To see a human-being whose false personality has been obliterated , is to see a miracle. To see a real person
If G was around today some idiot would accuse him of being a bully. But it’s just using the far side of the pendulum swing against the other, to find the centre which is pure love. Thanks for sharing 👍 ps don’t know if I can watch your next video if it’s got your swinging pendulum in it.
"Why is it so important to get somewhere into the center of the pendulum and not swing to and fro ? Because here , between the opposites , lie all the possibilities of growth , here influences of a higher level can reach us." Maurice Nicoll , commentaries , on the swing of the pendulum , vol three. Every living thing has a move away or towards response. humans give them meaning and value and this is where the whole circus starts.
