thats a sweet duster sounds great . i did notice its got 73 duster bucket seats in it . i also have a 71 duster factory 340 4 speed car which was converted to auto long before i bought it .
True. That particular shifter was in the '71 B bodies, Chargers, Roadrunners, etc. Longer than the E-body shifter but shorter than the previous year B body shifter.
I had a swinger 340 but I see a lot of people switched to holley carb, I did a little work to the motor and the carter worked great switch the needle and seat and it worked great and the electric choke great.
First car I rode to high school in, same color! Fast times @ St. Charles high, David Bruckers car was sweet. Only spun on one side though. I think it had a column shifter
I had the 76 Bicentennial Duster with the Red,White, and Blue stripe in the bucket seats and also on the back bench seat and it had the red, white, and blue stripe going down the side of the car on both sides with an eagle head at the end of it and it had a six cylinder in it.
Don't care for the color myself but mine, bought new in 1972, was a 3-speed Sky Blue 340 with a bench front seat. The 3-speed was awesome on the street. When opponents were shifting from first to second, I was still accelerating in first and would usually get a car length or two advantage.
@@mbp7060 When I began my search I wanted the 3-speed. The 4-speed was an extra $400. I ran across my original bill of lading the other day. I plan on keeping it.
Oh yes the “ good old days”, late 1970’s when I owned 70 340 Duster Green, Ran low 11's at Baylands Race Way in Fremont California, from Milpitas, California MADE a list of cars I won against! Never lost a race, this car hooked up on the street These cars were plentiful and cheap back then. By the way kids worked on their own cars, just add a new cam, headers and intake plus carburetor ?
@@kevinpatrick8788 Then someone added it later because it use to hit the bench seat with it forward. $500.00 paid for the car in 1980. Thanks for the information.
Michael Adamcik most likely yes . the pistol grip shifter is pretty tall so i could see that happening . probably why it wasnt an option in dusters or any a body mopars . i have a 71 duster factory h code 4 speed car that was converted to automatic back in the mid 1980s when it was raced . its got a 727 torqueflite reverse manual valve body with shift kit , 3200 stall converter with a b&m quicksilver shifter .
@@kevinpatrick8788 I never raced but always had fun with the Dusters that I've had. 70, 70, 72 and an 86 Duster Turismo. One of the 70's was plum crazy purple beneath the blue metallic that someone repainted.
maskedavenger777 A wise man told me once that there is no such thing as a stupid question :) Reverse is never counted as a gear, 4 speed means 4 for forward. 3 speed means 3 gears forward and so on.
Darrell Somers the 340 engine they tested was a 72 -73 which had lower compression and smogger heads with smaller valves . 1968 -70 they made much better power from the factory .
Ok "realllly nice car" but----numbers match? Original equipment? Why not show under the hood? The engine has been significantly modified - you don't put a cam like that in a short-stroke motor without beefing up other stuff like exhaust, rear end ratio, and carburation.
Back in the early 80’s I owned a 340 Cuda. awesome engine and car.
Lord do I miss that car.
I had a 73 340 Duster I miss it every day
That's a beautiful Plymouth Duster, love the color, the entire car looks perfect!! And that 340 sounds sweet!

It is a beautiful Duster and sounds amazing. I have a 70 Duster 340 and these little Mopars are fast . Love it . Great price Great video .
I'd trade a 1973 Corvette Stingray for that Duster!!
What a deal! I would pay 30 in a heartbeat. You are indeed a righteous dude.
Had a plum crazy 71' 4 spd Duster. This is my 2nd favorite color
1971 Duster didn't have the pistol grip shifter. It had to have been swapped from Cuda.

A friend of mine way back had a 72 340 Cuda and I recall him having sort of a love hate relationship with that carter carb in his car .
Very sharp duster ! vitiman c orange, one of my favorite colors.
The best grille

I agree, why did we not see the engine?

I have a 1972 3 speed that my dad bought in 1973. This is a super rare car because it's a 3 speed. The 4 speeds were the most common back then.

So much fun to drive. Put the best shocks in it if your going to drive it. And you should if you get it. Drive it. Lots of compression. Cam.
How much did it sell for?
😊Had a 72 duster twister 340.paid 3400 payment was 8727 a month wisj i still had it 7:52
That Shark tooth grille is worth a 1000 dollars alone.

The 340 had a bench seat with pistol grip 4speed

Bought mine for $1,400 from original owner....back in 1980...lol. Numbers match 340 bored .030 over Hurst 4spd 3.55 rear.
They actually had a floor shift option for a Duster? Awesome.
Absolutely
This may be a stupid question, but when you say 4 speed do you mean 4 forward speeds and 1 reverse, or does that mean reverse counts as a gear?

Awesomeness!
Should have opened the hood. It wasn’t like it would take long. You went around the car 10 or so times!!
Ever watch nicks garage it took an aftermarket cam and head work to make 1 HP per cubic inch out of a stock 340 doesn't say much for the 340

I luv me some lumpy idle.
Under the hood, come on, let's see it.
Fuck light it up and pop the hood.
I have a 72. This video doesn't capture the sound as good as when you're standing next to it
Agreed!
Beautiful car tachometer is not working
Rally dash is rare
Not on the ‘71. Standard with 340
What you're asking for
If I still had the $22,500 I’d buy it, bought a 1970 chevelle instead

😂 $$$$$$ 60
That's way too much cam for a street car.
Devan Driggers with manual brakes its all good .
