In Canada this would be a no go and wouldn't be allowed on the street. I would buy a blank frame(dealer) and get the vin transferred over. I wouldn't rebuilt this bike and I would store the parts and use them on a bike with a blown motor and with a good frame. Love your Channel and this is the first video I have seen with a bent frame. PLEASE DONT REBUILD THIS FRAME!
Yup, I would just salvage the good parts and scrap the frame. Even up here frames come up on the classifieds constantly with clean titles. Would make for an easier project then trying to straighten a frame. I say in Canada even this would be feasible if you had the money to wait on a frame, new parts are stupid expensive up here. The parts alone are worth more then the entire bike when assembled.
The large dent is quite concerning. Since it’s a motorcycle and not a car, welding it *may* be fine. The vehicle is pretty light. Even then, I’d try to find a second hand frame before I’d save that one, as it’s aluminum and not steel. When aluminum breaks, there’s no saving it. Even repaired, the chassis won’t be as robust as it once was. At any rate, looking forward to future progress.
I'm glad that your honest & thorough about your Bikes because there to many that would have put a sticker on a crack & just sell it on giving somebody else a possible death trap 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
@@NOONE-hp8bw yes but still you don't ever fix a frame once damage that area is weak spot and applying heat makes it more dangerous before you start by saying it not im a mechanic and i know what im talking about as i worked for race team when frame are in crash that it that frame is done . Anyone who rides a frame damaged is riding a bike that actually has no insurance

Same on the uk, American seems to deal with frame damage just like and old bit of damage that can just be patched over and all’s fine. At least he’s showing it, seen plenty of other you tubers who “forgot” to record the massive damage being “fixed”
Good luck. Maybe make it a dedicated track bike. Some cheap bodywork some suspension upgrades and a quick shifter. Add up the numbers and see what works.
For the price of an undamaged chassis I'd change it while it is stripped down, and have peace of mind when I rode it or sold it on. I personally have never purchased a welded frame bike and never would. Am I just old and fussy ?
New sub here. Man I would have a nice project for you with this 1994 ZX-11. Clutch problems, fuel tank could need some love, needs new fuel filter. Man it'll need a lot of things. Stepfather just straight neglected the thing. No frame damage though. Just motor and transmission issues. Come get it .
I wouldnt want to ride this bike even after the fixes, or at least not at high speeds. Aluminum can't be re-welded to its original strength like steel can. If you weld it, it will be barely any stronger than not, and you run the risk of a major breakage. Aluminum is what is considered a catastrophic failure material, I just dont think is worth the risk, we are talking about a human life in the line.
Yeah, never direct mount frame sliders... always buy one with a bracket. The brackets will usually bend as well, absorbing more of the kinetic energy and saving your frame.
Hey, are you able to provide a price the bike was bought for/if received and the total cost of repairs if possible? - Just curious how much a restoration like such would look in terms of money :) loving the vids tho!
I always watch your videos. my dream is to have a big bike but it is very expensive in the philippines. so until I look and watch your videos first, I feel like I'm the owner too haha.
Hello, first of all, thank you for the work you do. You have helped me a lot in maintaining my motorcycle. And I have learned a lot in disassembling it, without having extra screws, hahaha. Just one question. I would need some forks, since mine suffered some damage in the joints. Where do you usually buy this type of spare part, I am from Spain. Thank you.
Hey Rob, great video as always. I can't believe you had to strip down that whole bike, that sucks brother. Oh well, makes for a good video lol. Number 1 Canadian fan.
Yo Rob, what is that milwaukee impact driver you've got just out of curiosity? Seems like one of the tools you use the most which means its probably a very good one to get. Looks quite versatile.

Should't the frame be measured before "slpaping it back to the engine" ? Not sure what the law says it in your region. I had to get sertificate saying the frame is inside speclimits, before I was able to register my project bike back on the road - It did not even have any dents to be seen. And also as others have allready said; that frame would go in to the bin in Finnland as well, as it has cracks - English as second language, but you get the point.
There are plenty of vids that show frame sliders doing more damage then without. If seen bike slide much further down the road thanks to the sliders, bike usually hit the riders too. They are great for tip overs but when moving on its side the bike becomes a giant chunk of metal.
Even if you weld it, aluminium won't have the same structural strength as before. Personally I'd never wanna ride a bike that's capable of speeds like 150 mph, that had a frame damage previously. Please don't try to repair it, just get a second hand frame that's in good condition!
Why there so many explain..just do full restoration cuz im so excited,, stop to many talks just rebuild,, all i want is to see a full rebuild a big bike...thank you..
