    You know, even though we didn't see you guys at all in this video, I liked it very much (anything Roadtrek instantly whets my whistle lol)! Im only 5'5" tall, so any rig 20' or smaller, is perfect for me (except for the 170 versatile...thats too small)! The SS Agile is another one of their mobile power plants: 300w Solar, optional 5K Watt inverter, 400amp hr Lithium battery bank & 30amp Solar charge controller...freaking BEASTLY for a little RV! Jennifer & Mike Wendland have the CS Adventurous, and the love that hide-away storage compartment for bedding! Last year when I read about R'treks being absorbed by the Hymer Group, I had my reservations about it, but not anymore...🍻🍻!

    • @Weretherussos
      @Weretherussos  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The Agile was really cool and something that size with 4x4 is something we'd love to take for a spin! It seems that Hymer and Roadtrek are doing great things together!

    Hi Joe and Kait. As you narrow down the list of RV's that you are interested in, please consider recording a video with the top 5 or 10 choices in the order of preference. This will allow people who have those units to provide feedback about them and for others to offer suggestions and encouragement. I find it fun and rewarding to help someone make a choice like this and I'm sure that others do as well.
    If you are still considering a truck camper, hopefully you saw my recent comment about the Host Industries Mammoth, which has an optional washer/dryer and fireplace. It's cool that you can get a washer/dryer in a camper, when many motorhomes don't have one. The Mammoth can be expensive and heavy, but that may be a good tradeoff to have these and other really great options.

    • @Weretherussos
      @Weretherussos  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Leonard - Thank you for the suggestion, we'll see if we can put something together but in the meantime our top 5 are: Winnebago Travato and Era, Hymer Aktiv, Leisure Travel Unity and the truck camper. If we go with the camper, we'll have to look at more options because the only one we've seen so far has been the Lance. The Mammoth sounds like it has some great options but we wouldn't want a washer/dryer in a RV because we boondock a lot and we'd rarely be able to use them...so we prefer to have the room for other things.

      We're the Russos Haha...to be totally honest with you--I was obsessed with Sushi before I was with Roadtreks! Also, I was obsessed with Roastreks before I was obsessed with your videos! @Weretherussos  7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Lol - they are really cool and would be a great way to take weekend trips but still have some of the comforts of home.

  •  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I'll grant them that they're small which is a plus for driving and parking, and I like the all-electric without a bulky roof A/C, but they lost me with the couch that becomes the main bed. I have slept on similar things and it's just not comfortable long-term. More support than a pull-out sofa-bed but the individual sections can move around and their joined edges tend to be firmer than the rest.

    • @Weretherussos
      @Weretherussos  7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Most of the people we've met who full time in rigs like these tend to put a foam/latex mattress on top which helps even everything out.

    • @LowsJuan
      @LowsJuan 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Some of these couches utilize memory foam so they have improved immensely there comfort level. I don't know if roadtek uses it but Leisure vans do. This is a relatively new innovation over what most people would consider a torture device. .

    Nice models. Again - occupant and cargo carrying capacity is a real concern with these models, especially the Zion. Only 1,250 OCCC before full water, occupants, propane, cargo, options, etc. Doesn't leave much.

    • @Weretherussos
      @Weretherussos  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      We'd expect that we would have around 400-500 lbs of capacity for cargo when all is said and done. That's not bad for us, considering the size of the vehicle. In our current Class A, we are carrying about 1,400 lbs of cargo and there is a lot that isn't going to come with us when we downsize again.

    • @cynthiaivers6065
      @cynthiaivers6065 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That sounds about right - without any options (additional solar, etc.). I suppose if you wanted to bring more, you could tow it in a StowAway, etc.

    We saw one of these parked at a walmart today and thought maybe it would be something you would be interested in but apparently you guys already know about it lol. thanks for the tour inside of it. Sorry folks, if I wanted to hear a sales pitch I'd go straight to their website or visit a dealer. I want to hear what you two HONESTLY think, not just your agreement with their claims. I realize it's a tough line to walk if you want access to these products and factories, but you'd help the broader RV community more by being a bit more critical.
    I don't mean to be harsh. I enjoy & appreciate your videos, but please at least think about my (hopefully) constructive criticism.

    • @Weretherussos
      @Weretherussos  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks for the feedback and good point - since we know nothing about the Roadreks, we wanted to find out what their new features were and have them walk us through some of their models. Unfortunately we didn't have time to go back through them and add in our opinions of the coaches but we thought this would be a good way to give people an idea of what was at the show so they could go see for themselves.

    • @bearthio
      @bearthio 7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I understand. I also know you guys are relatively new to RVs and the full-time life with a bunch of stuff to juggle right now. I really didn't mean to come down too hard on you. I apologize if it sounded that way.
      But I've watched nearly all of your videos, so I'm really commenting on your "body of work" so far. I don't know how often you review old videos, but it might be something to consider when you can make the time.
      There are many TH-camrs giving entertaining and somewhat informative tours of various RVs, but most of them are practically extensions of the RV sales industry. Any criticisms tend to be superficial and don't inform consumers on deeper levels. It'd be great if you could do better.

    This is good info. I am thinking of going RVing like the Russos. I am not sure where to begin. i don't have an RV, a white dog, or a Chinese wife.

    • @Weretherussos
      @Weretherussos  7 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      This is Joe - I'd suggest getting the Chinese wife first, then seeing if she's cool with the RV and white dog...husky to be exact ;) Then you'll be all set. (Kait says this is good advice)

    Marcedes? What an odd pronunciation. That aside, RoadTrek makes decent coaches. Not as luxurious as Leisure Travel Vans or Pleasureway but unmatched when it comes to implementing new technologies. They must spend a fortune on R&D and it shows. Truly state of the art stuff.

    • @Weretherussos
      @Weretherussos  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      For us, usable technology is huge, especially if we are considering full-timing in the rig.

    • @gklinger
      @gklinger 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I couldn't agree more. Leisure Travel Vans' layouts are really livable (best bathrooms in the industry), their cabinet work is superb and their coaches are filled with clever little touches, they still haven't moved to Lithium batteries, don't have anything like VoltStart, have scant solar panel offerings etc. The deal breaker for me is that you can't get a LTV coach that doesn't use propane. I want a coach in which everything uses diesel and/or electric power.
      My theory is that LTV's management are older and extremely conservative as are most of their customers. RoadTrek seems more dynamic and interested in going after younger, more active clientele.
      P.S. RoadTrek should offer Dean a million dollar salary to be their pitchman. He's the best in the business and I'm convinced that his videos and live demonstrations are responsible for a large portion of LTV's sales.

    • @slamdancer1720
      @slamdancer1720 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I find that they keep everything too low. like a microwave only a couple feet off the floor. This makes it unlivable for me. but otherwise nice coaches.

    • @MultiRabe
      @MultiRabe 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      lbird Well, according to Consumer Report, the sale of Class B & B+ Vans, are steadily rising year to year! For some people, the better gas mileage works for them. For others, its the ability to get into campgrounds bigger Class A & C models just don't fit in. For those that are minimalists, less stuff means more freedom! Its been my fave type of RV for decades now!

    • @l-bird
      @l-bird 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You bet! I just am amazed at how advanced in user friendliness the smaller classes are getting. Who needs a large RV when you get all the amenities you need in a vehicle you can easily drive and park and even take off road if needed :) Feeling of full size bathrooms and kitchens and beds... not to mention storage space, etc... mind blowing, lol. Nice!

    • @MultiRabe
      @MultiRabe 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      lbird Agreed! Class B's are very pricey, but I think the advantages of the versatility it affords the owner, outweighs the price hike (unless you get cabin fever easily on rainy days 😂)!

      @l-bird 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    • @dlg5485
      @dlg5485 7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      If you want the most lithium battery and solar capacity, the price of a CS XL can reach $180,000, with 4x4 chassis. So if you want the ability for extended boondocking and capable off-roading, prepare to pay a huge premium for those upgrades. I love the CS and consider it the best class B option for boondocking, but the cost of these upgrades is just too much.
