A friend works in customer relations for a major insurance company . He is fielding calls all day from frantic customers who are having their rates skyrocketing. These people aren't rich .Gas , groceries , and housing are killing them financially. These thefts and robberies have to stop. We need more police and a return to law and order from the courts.
I'm one of them. I drive a Lexus that needs premium gas. Our braindead prime minister has made gas over $2/L for premium. And then insurance sent a letter that due to thefts my rate will go up $700 this year.
This is just the beginning!! The US has waaaaaaay more crime issues that will become part of the life of Canadians. The harder it gets here in the US they can do easier in Canada. The citizens must rise up now!!!!

...I literally just bought a used car... Mind you, I did see the Carfax and saw the full service report, all local. Zero accidents. I'm hoping my new ride doesn't fall into that statistic. It doesn't help that inflation and interest rates have new vehicle prices just skyrocket. Remember when a base model car could be had for $20k with maybe like 2% financing, or less? Now, a base vehicle is $30k at 4% starting. Used is 10% to finance.
A carfax won't help to tell if a vehicle is stolen. Research the vehicle you are buying. I know ram pickups the vin is also stamped on the frame under the car. Lot's of cars the Catalitic converters have the vin stamped in them.
This problem won't be fixed as long as you are relying on someone else (government) to take care of your security and safety. Be responsible for your own security, be responsible for your own safety, do your due diligence on all purchases and deals without relying on a third party to have what's best for you in mind. They don't, and they never have. • Keep your vehicle in a locked garage. • Keep your keys in an out of the way place where criminals invading your home can not easily find them. • If you are a victim of a home invasion, don't rely on police to save you. Save yourselves.
This should be a maketing blitz across Canada. All Insurance and Gov and Police should all be involved. Such an easy mail out and email too!! Anyone who buys a stolen vehicle and it is discovered...automatically, there is no insurance, and the dam stolen vehicle is seized by police!!!
I was test driving a Challenger and my phone notification of an airbag came up. I dropped the car back at the dealership and left. I told them that I was not going to buy a car that would be stolen back from me or was stolen already. Bring an iPhone on test drive. It will ping if airtag on board
It is called Google. It doesn't know state or provincial boundaries. Spend 15 minutes on it and you can figure out whether the vehicle you are about to buy is legit.

Had an issue selling my 2008 Town & Country last year. Same VIN with different engine sizes and different mileage. In southern Ontario.
