Golf Steep Downswing : What's The Fix? | How to Fix Steep Golf Swing

A Steep downswing can cause a lot of issues in the golf swing especially if you want compression and full golf ball control. So what's the cure. The cure is a downswing on a great plane from allowing the body to take control. If you want to hit more fairways and lose that steep out-to-in swing path then follow my instructions.

Thanks for the drill Steve, I struggle with this issue. I remember years ago having lessons and being told to start the downswing like pulling a rope. I translated this as coming in steep. Time for this to stop!!!

There is a drill called the Texas longhorn drill where you take the pointer and pinky finger off the club and extend the fingers and thus reducing the potential of over grip with the right hand. Helps

A good point about taking enough club. I’m prone to think that I have to hit it harder to reach the green instead of “taking enough club” then pull, push or outright duff it.

Steve, how long should someone give themselves using your full Euraka swing (open stance) and migrating into a more traditional stance?

I suppose at 75 years of age, I should have a well groved swing, but no ive fallen into a bad swing path mostly to overcome my lack of distance by trying to get distance and simply "thrashing at the ball, so I'm working on smooth swing and using longer clubs. For example, our second hole 395 yards, I usually get down to 135 ish from the green protected by a ditch and a pond in front. I now use a 5 wood easy swing trust the club for the distance ignore the yards!! Last 4 rounds? 1 birdie, 3 pars😊 thanks Steve 😊
