    I have the pleasure of owning one of the total ~6K IS-Fs imported to the US, a 2011, and I will have a RC F. This guy sure was smiling and laughing a lot on the track to say "Don't bother taking it to the track because to won't enjoy it". That said, no car in this class is a good track toy, unless you can afford to beat up a car this expensive. For occasional track use, I know it would be a hoot. It will be great on road, where it will be driven 99.9% of the time, and I'm sure the extra weight has advantages in stiffness and crash-worthiness. The press love to beat on Lexus and praise BMW...that's why you seldom hear them mention reliability, resale and cost to own.

    Man that is a good looking car, well done Lexus. It's a bit heavy but then I guess a stiffer car is either a heavier car or a way more expensive car.
    Honestly I don't have a problem with engine noise amplification, if we want cars that are relaxing one minute and stimulating the next, it seems like this is the only option.

    Yokihiko sounds like a Genius! Much respect to him.
    Love the Orange paint & the wheels ... not a fan of the side vent (in general) & the shape of the rear flared fenders though.
    Its refreshing to see a Sport Coupe with a Wood trim.
    A Couple of questions M,
    1- is the Retractable Spoiler exclusive to the Carbon Fiber roof option?
    2- Does the Retractable Spoiler double as Air Brakes like say, a McLaren? Or just go up & down like an Audi A7 or BMW 3er GT?
    I don't really mind the amplified exhaust via the speakers as long as its the REAL sound coming from the engine & not a fake one like the one featured in PimpMyRide years ago.
    As always M, excellent video & keep up the great work.

      Gotta say - the Orange does have a certain eye ball to it . . . That said, the car looks hot in Blue . . .
      No, the retractable spoiler is not limited to the carbon fibre roof option . . .
      Believe it or not, I did get a good amount of seat time on track with the car and can't say I felt an air brake functionality. In piecing together my discussions with Yaguchi-san, I would say it is there for increasing limits of adhesion at speed.
      Perhaps I should have clarified in the film a bit more but the system only *amplifies* the real sound - not manufacture sound.
      One last huge point: Yaguchi-san is THE man.

      I agree with the Deep Sea Mica Blue ... its not photo-friendly though, you have to see it in person ... its hot, its a popular color with the new IS around here.
      Yea, I figured the spoiler would be like that ... I got a weakness for Retractable Spoilers ... so I tend to pay more attention to them . :P
      Good, good, I have no problem with amplified real sound.
      Thanks M!

    I own an IS-F and one of the reasons I chose it over the BMW-M3 was the fact that it DID NOT force-feed artificial sound into the cabin. I like what they did with the LFA to make the intake manifold direct sound towards the driver, but the speaker? please no.

    What percentage of Lexus owner drive their car on a track or use the full range of 467 HP? Most Lexus drivers purchase these cars for daily commutes or road trips? Lexus knows their target group, luxury and reliability. Hell, I can't even drive my Scion FR-S (200 HP)at full throttle without drawing attention from the police. Every Toyota, Lexus and Scion my family owns is still on the road. I still own and drive a 1990 Toyota Pickup, with no problem and my wife daily drives a Lexus from the 1990s.. RC-F is too heavy, but as long as the car looks exotic , comfortable and reliable then my money is well spent.

    the press release from Lexus doesnt say anything about a speaker for the Active Sound Control. They said its separate and its controlled by an actuator, which makes it sound like sound is being piped in with a valve or damper controlling it.
    "An electronic control unit mounted beneath the instrument panel takes input from engine sounds, including varying engine speed, vehicle speed and throttle position and generates augmented sound through an actuator. It is entirely separate from audio system, so there’s no reduction in music fidelity."

      @MotoManTV  9 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Thanks for the kind words and the suggestion . . . Sooooo - would like to ask a favor of you and the rest of our viewers on this general topic . . . The best way for you guys to help us get more views and grow our show (we're just 5 years old, you know) is to watch our episodes within the first 24 - 36 hours of premiere, click on the 'like' button, comment (good, bad or indifferent) and last but not least - SHARE the episodes with your friends. Not to get too much 'inside baseball' but they way TH-cam algorithms work is *heavily* based on the views that come in in the first 24 - 36 hours of a video's life. So, as of today, September 5 we have about 26,000 subscribers on TH-cam. If just 10% of those subs would watch our videos in the first 24 hours that would indicate to the algorithm that the video is liked by a broad base of viewers and in turn would be shown to more viewers in search results which in turn drives views. Sounds like weird science but that is the major difference between an episode like our Aston Martin Flugplatz Blue film - which was epic - getting only 25,000 views in 30 days and our 2015 Ford Mustang episode getting 250,000 views in the same period. Really. 'Liking' and commenting is just as important and adds to it. Which is why we ask you guys to SHARE our episodes via facebook, Twitter and Instagram with your friends because it has a HUGE impact on all of this. Don't forget to tag us 'MotoManTV' and we will retweet! Yes, a lot of detail but we love what we do and want to keep creating the films we do . . .

    the weight is on par with other V8 coupes like the C63 AMG 507 and Audi RS5. ISF was 3800# and the RCF is 1.5" wider and longer than the ISF, now throw in the torque vectoring diff. RCF wasnt ever going to be lighter than the ISF.

    MotoManTV this car has lots of promise and thought put into it, but when you stack it up against the likes of the M4, C63 AMG, and even the RS5, it kinda falls flat in most aspects. Its too heavy despite the use of CF and aluminum. The fact they took parts of a sport sedan(GS) to Frankenstein into this car doesn't jive with building the ultimate sports coupe to me. The engine sounds "the bizness", but so does the V8 in the AMG, which gives you more usable torque down low. And the kicker is the spindle grill + that hideous hood bulge make the front of the car completely disgusting, IMO. It looks sweet from certain other angles, but its still one of those love it or hate it designs. I think this car will appeal to Lexus fans who embrace Toyota reliability and the "gadget factor", who aren't track junkies. Seems like a good recipe for the ultimate grand tourer who still wants to turn heads, but for the hardcore enthusiast, its very disappointing and there are much better options out there like the Camaro Z28 and upcoming Mustang GT350 along with the others I already mentioned in the sports coupe class.
    Love the sport coat and collared shirt with the racing helmet look though! haha Cheers, Moto!

      Yes, why complicate things with an expensive automatic transmission? It's not like you need lightning reflexes to shift in a car like this - aka the GT-R. A manual would service this car plenty. Even MotoMan complained of the lack of complete control with the automatic transmission.

    Can we expect any direct competitor to Nissan GTR from Toyota / Lexus? Because it's kinda boring to see the same car (GTR) almost everywhere as the fastest car. I like naturally aspirated engines and rear wheel drive, thus I love this new Lexus, but I also think that we need a competitor for Nissan GTR. Ok, there is a 911 Turbo, but what about all japanese brands? No one to beat the GTR?

    Just wondering somethings. I mean I love Japanese cars due to their reliability. However, many of my friends say that lexus are shit. And, I just have no idea. For instance, one of my friend keeps saying bmw m4 will kick rc-f's ass really hard. But, is it true? He points out that the car's too heavy which is really true, like 1840 kg. Compare to bmw m4 1500-1600kg I believe. Any one has any feed backs for me to tell my friend to keep his mouth shut?

    • @amapolishplummer
      @amapolishplummer 9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      He's probably right as the M4 is the faster car but that doesn't mean it's the better car. How many times are you going to go to the track in your own car? And will you base your own car which you normally use every week at least on how it performs on the track?
      In my opinion the RC-F is the better car. It's cheaper, as fast as the M4 in the real world (Backroads, motorways, cities), better equipped, sounds better, looks better (My opinion), more reliable and more comfortable.
      Performance stats are for kids and nerds who don't actually understand what owning a car is about. On a track yes the M4 will most likely be the winner but the RC-F will be the winner everywhere else.

    • @d1sturb3d119
      @d1sturb3d119 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      People who can't drive worth shit often looove to talk about how one car will beat another. People who actually drive fast understand that the car is a tool and certain tools allow you as a driver to do certain things. Go to the track even with a cheap car and you'll find that folks with cars that are fast on paper are often unable to drive those cars fast consistently. BMW owners looove claiming their cars are fast but honestly I haven't come across a BMW that has been able to take on my ISF in a straight line or around a corner for that matter. Not that the cars are bad in any way. It just takes a talented driver to get close to that level of performance.

    My Audi RS4 does 0-60 in 4.3 seconds, (4.2 according to Autoweek), has 10 mph higher top speed, (with 47 less horsepower), a manual transmission, (which Lexus doesn't offer), 4 wheel drive, bigger brakes, (8 Piston Brembo's from the Lamborghini Gallardo), weighs the same, (even with 4 wheel drive), the Audi has a nicer interior, and doesn't look like Frankenstein's monster on the outside. Where did the get that ugly pinched grill from and those stupid check mark lights like it's A OK! Even the fake spoiler isn't as bad as the fake manufactured sound and fake quad exhaust. Only two of the four exhaust work. The top ones are fake. They copied the wheel, seat, and carbon from the RS4 and it's a huge car for a two door. Think the designer should have driven the Audi, BMW and Mercedes some more to see what real quality and design are. What an ugly pig of a car. It deserves a mark of F. Rather have a hopped up Camry!

It is heavy and the engine is compared to honda S2000 but is not even close , S2000 had a engine that produced 240 hp out of 2.0 and this one is 470hp out of 5.0 , so on order to compare it should be at leas 500 plus hp . Handling is nothing special eater ... Just another boring cruiser from Lexus . You want it special , loose 250 pounds and make it over 500hp .

    The car is too heavy and unfortunately it will be at the same place the ISF was.I really want to see a Lexus product that is truly sporty and kicks butt, but unfortunately just like the ISF and the LFA were the RCF will just be another attempt that goes no where.

      LOL! Considering that LFA was the fastest car with street tire at Nurburgring and truly is something more than the sum of its parts, the thing that goes nowhere is your delusional bias about Japanese cars.

      Ok the isf since 2011 had some adjustments made to it and it did the same track tome as the m3 now i saw a review on motor trend where they compared the regular rcf against the upgraded m4 and the rcf came in just 0.3 sec behind the m4 now keep in mind they didnt use the orcf with the upgraded package with the carbon fiber hood roof and torque v set up so for a regular rcf to have kept that much of a sec behind the upgraded weight reduction m4 i woukd say lexus have dont a great job cause in all honesty if it was the other rcf the m4 might have lost or it would have been a equal time so as far as weight goes if a so call too heavy car can be that close to a m4 thats damn good so the attempt is going somewhere man this car is sold out in japan already and in europe and the state the projected number for the company of sale is doing well orders have are being filled so dont follow some of those bias reviews and articles lexus have made the bench mark bmw questionable now. ..the isf slap away the m3 in the 2011 to present models never heard huh well its because these paid and bias channel will only give you half of the whole.

      Not sure what you are referring to. Agreed, the ISF was a bit ordinary looking, but was powerful, it was faster than the V8 M3.
      The LFA was faster than any Merc and BM. And most definitely redefined how a sports car looks. Most sports cars had similar features, LFA is a hot looking unique design.
      The RCF again is a hot looking unique design with a powerful grill (all latest versions of cars are too refined and metrosexual looking, e.g. like their eyebrows are tweezered). I like the broad powerful grill. Love the new gages and interior again is unique and elegant. Most definitely quality.
      And the RCF is powerful as well. More hp than the M4 and RS5 and in a 3-way showdown between the 3 cars the RCF beat both the M4 and RS5 by almost 2 seconds on a 1.8 mile track (so the weight had no impact on the performance).
      Although I like the look of the M4 and the RCF equally (the RS5 is boring and ugly already), the RCF is unique and I find myself starring at in more often.
      I have been a BMW fan for many years, they started it all with the 333 an then the M3, but this RCF, I'd pick ahead of a much more expensive M4.

      @@andresw01after owning an RCF myself, it is indeed a treat from the Japanese. It’s one of a kind and has aged well

    I'm sorry but if you're going to introduce your brand globally especially to western world, for the love of God can you speak English. I mean keep up with the times not just with your brand but your self and learn to atleast speak it. And NO, I'm not a racist. It's not too much to ask a few billion dollar company to have a representative that speaks the common tongue.

      This video is focusing on the engineer who designed the car. When you speak with German engineers they speak German. Twats like you need to learn other languages instead of being a loser.

    To the chief exterior designer of Lexus:
    I don't care how big of a Nike fan you are, please keep it to yourself. Until then, I'm not buying a Lexus. Oh by the way, Audi will be releasing the new generation of A5/S5 soon, and you'll be screwed big time.

    No manual transmission?! Seriously? Absolutely pathetic for a performance car. I would rather prefer my Honda Accord Sport. It does not deserve that reputation.
