The commentary just before Drogba's goal is hilarious.."Chelsea have been much better since going behind"...yeah, cos they were absolutely terrible for those 25 seconds before the goal weren't they
I think the commentator meant that Chelsea had been the better team despite being a goal down. He just didn't word it correctly. Live commentary is not an easy gig.
+Jan Terry Apparently not. The guys who made the goal line tech used their computers on this, and many other ghost goals and ruled this one out. Apparently the ball was 3 millimetres short of completely crossing the line. Not that it mattered but no goal was the correct decision.
Chelsea should have been in UCL Final too that year. But UEFA chooses money over the beautiful game. MU vs Barca was much more a better final in terms of Marketing side....
@Edgar Panganiban Whatever, do you know the amount of silverware Chelski have been given to them just because they can't afford to not win things so refs most of the time actually feel pressure to give them help, not the other way round. Also ManUtd could argue they could've also been in this final if they weren't doing so well in all the competitions that season and rested Cristiano for the FAcup semi-finals vs Everton (also no Rooney, VanDerSar, Fletcher etc...etc...) and were still unlucky in that game should've had a stonewall pen then they lost in a shootout. Therefore it could've been worse for Chelsea, could've been another trophyless season, I think they only had a chance to win 1of the lesser major competitions 08/09 because the opposition in the final they faced is a team they should be beating with their strongest team which this was I.e Drogba, Lampard both played and scored, no one rested like ManUtd rested vs Everton because it wasn't the final, Chelsea still only just won this, they didn't even finish 2nd in the PL that season they were out of realistic contention for the title a while before the season finished so ManUtd were better than Chelsea in this period hence 3 PL's in a row, European and World champions and 25 champions league games unbeaten until the 2009 final vs a great Barca team in a match that could've gone either way and of course the last meeting between the 2 team's in the January was an easy 3-0 thrashing which ManUtd could even afford a wrongly disallowed goal to be called in Chelsea's favour. ManUtd had beaten Chelsea in the previous season's UCL final which in truth should've been over at half-time and in the FAcup they would've been looking for justice vs Chelsea had they met eachother in this 2009 FAcup final because of Chelsea's controversial win against ManUtd in the 2007 final where ManUtd definitely deserved the PL & FAcup double but the Essien foul on Giggs no pen incident where the ball still crossed the line but no goal given either Cech is allowed to play on by throwing the ball to his teammate then Chelsea win 1-"nil"???? ManUtd may well have fancied Chelsea in both 2009 finals (FAcup had ManUtd been involved, UCL had Chelsea been involved) as ManUtd were by far the best team in the country for 5 straight seasons from 2006/07 to 2010/11 so maybe they were actually the unlucky ones with decisions that season they could've easily won the quadruple (6 competitions in total including the shield and WorldClubCup out of the 7 they competed in. They still won a double of PL&LeagueCup, got to UCL final and won 4 pieces of silverware which is better than Chelsea's NONE in 2012/13 when they were also in the same 7 competitions that season as ManUtd were in 08/09 Shield,SuperCup, WorldClubCup,LeagueCup,PL,FAcup&UCL).
@@tjmatthew9800 At the start of 2012/13 the EuropaLeague wasn't in Chelsea's minds, it wasn't 1of the 7 trophies they were in from the start because they could only participate in it if they did the unthinkable for them and become the first ever reigning champions league winners to be eliminated in the first round....but it was only a reality check for them (as was getting thrashed by EuropaLeague winners in SuperCup) showing how flukey they were in the first place to win UCL the season before, they had loads of decisions in 2010/11 PL season to get them a top4 place to even play in the 11/12 UCL and fluke their way to the trophy. I also believe that particular Chelsea team wouldn't have won EuropaLeague 2013 had they been in the competition from the group stage (like they should've been, they finished 6th!). I know they won it last season from being in the group stage but that's because they didn't have anything else to concentrate on from the start they knew other competitions weren't realistic, I actually expected them to win it last season from as early as the start but they accepted they were at that level last season. 2012/13 they thought their squad was better than EuropaLeague and wouldn't have made it a main priority, they only eventually made it a main priority in 12/13 because they failed miserably in everything else and felt they needed to win something as they had such high (and unrealistic) expectations. They could've easily competed a bit stronger in PL in 2012/13 than they did, sacrificing EuropaLeague but still finishing trophyless. Anyway even as it was, even with winning EuropaLeague 2013 it was still an embarrassing season for Chelsea.
@@cddb5408 how is them not focusing on the EL somehow nullify them winning it? If anything, it's more impressive that they won it even when they were treating it as a lower priority trophy.
I don’t think Lamps & Drogba get enough credit. Easily Chelsea’s 2 best players of all time. Hazard had more tekkers & raw ability... But Drogba ALWAYS elevated himself in huge matches & Lamps was just a consistent goal scoring freak show. Never seen a mid score like Lamps. Ever.
Are you joking?? They're both extremely overrated. "Huge matches" lol yeah against the mighty Everton with a load of players missing & rock bottom Pompey the year after congratulations on winning by a whopping 1 goal again in that one. ManUtd that season won the PL, Shield, ClubWorldCup, LeagueCup & got to CL final going a still unmatched 25 CL games unbeaten in the process and only lost a 50/50 final vs the greatest club team ever and ManUtd would've had that label instead if they'd won back-to-back CL's in invincible style. They rested VanDerSar, Carrick, Fletcher, Rooney & Ronaldo for the FAcup semifinal that year which they only lost on pens after being denied a stonewall pen in the game vs a stronger Everton team than the depleted one Chelsea's FULL STRENGTH team scraped a win against in the final to win their only trophy in 2 years when they literally buy trophies and it was also a 3rd straight season they failed to win any of the big ones (PL's & CL's). But typical Chelsea fans see it as "Oh we were robbed in CL SF we could've won CL".....yeah or maybe Chelsea being robbed in that SF and ManUtd being robbed in FAcup SF denied ManUtd a quadruple (plus the other pieces of silverware they won). Considering ManUtd were far better than Chelsea around that time. Had beaten them in CL final the previous year and thrashed them 3-0 in Jan2009 which was the latest result between the 2 if they were going to meet in a final or 2 that season. Chelsea are so lucky they only had to face C.Ronaldo when he was unplayable for an extremely short period and they didn't even get him in CL in the 9 years he was at RMadrid, 3 years at Juventus etc...even ManUtd had to play him in CL vs both teams. Think of the amount of silverware he would've denied Chelsea from 2009/10 if he'd stayed at ManUtd or stayed a bit longer considering how unconvincingly they won the things they did in that period vs much less competition....even if he then played vs Chelsea in CL 2011/12 for RMadrid that's another trophy Chelsea don't win out of the many they unconvincingly won. Chelsea didn't ever get drawn with RMadrid until Ronaldo left them and instead they got them when Hazard had joined them (not quite the same lol completely different work ethics) and he was awful vs his former club.
@@rando4065 As I just said. Scored against depleted Everton with Chelsea's strongest team out, scored against rock bottom Portsmouth with strong Chelsea team, scored against poor Liverpool who finished 8th, scored against Arsenal's youth team in LeagueCup 2007 final, if Giggs's goal in FAcup final 2007 wasn't incorrectly disallowed (not even disallowed Cech literally was allowed to play on after it crossed the line just threw the ball to his teammate play on??) Drogba most likely does not score when he did later on in extra-time. And he scored against a Liverpool team in 2005 mickey mouse cup where I'd like to know the difference in squad cost for the 2 teams, just because that poor Liverpool team who finished with more losses than Bolton beat Chelsea in CL semifinal doesn't mean it was much of an achievement to score against them, Mikael Sylvestre scored a brace against them so what?? It's a toss up between Drogba or Cech who was the luckiest player to set foot at Wembley (I know some of Drogba's final goals were elsewhere like Millennium stadium & Munich).
