Tell the guy from ABRP that we need it in an app as it is so data hungry that anything other than a Tesla can’t hold a continuous 4G link to keep it working so before I go on a trip I do the route on a laptop and print the screen out with all the detail on it.
Fun to be a part in your latest video!
19:10 This Asian Express Chop Chop restaurant looks so appetizing! I wish they start to expand, may be they should make a deal with IKEA to spread around!
NOTE: From Berlin why not use the ferry Rostock-Gedser, it looks a shorter route or from Lubeck use the ferry Puttgarden-Rodby just to make a change.
I use ABPR to compare long distance viability of different EVs. It's amazing how big the differences can be (e.g. iPace vs Model 3 on an 835km drive from Munich to Paris makes a difference of +2 hours for the iPace!)
I LOVE ABRP!!! This guy's awesome!
oisiaa yes. I love it and use it with every trip
Thanks Bjørn, really enjoyed your roadtrip. At the end of August I will get my Model 3. Looking forward to some adventures like yours!
@Bjørn Nyland: A rectifier is a AC to DC converter. The boxes at 5:14 most likely converts to DC, and the "charges" dumps down the voltage to the required voltage.
In Norwegian:
rectifier = likeretter
inverter = vekselretter
I enjoyed this road trip with wifey very much! I love trips to beautiful mountains 🏔
Mitchell Barnow looking forward to wifeys videos. My wife watches those too.
I really love all of the road trip videos. I hope it gives inspiration to others who can see what the whole experience is like, good and bad and look forward to their own road trips.
On the fly road trip videos, nice, I still like a lot! They are legend! 🙂 Thank you! Now, I just want this trip-map with consumption summary sheet back again! Sure, it’s holiday time.. takes some time.. But still gives orientation, structure and stats 😋 Next time, ok?
ABRP is fantastic! I use it all the time as I have a 30kWh EV. :)
I do not drive, but I find your videos so informative about EVs (and entertaining) that I have just 'subscribed'. However, while large numbers of people drive around (as you do) in vehicles with just one or two occupants there is going to be traffic congestion! And that will be true whether the cars are powered by petrol, diesel, electricity, hydrogen, or a fuel not yet invented!
That might be improved in the countries that allow you to have more than one wife at a time (and therefore more vehicle occupants at a time on a vacation).
Heavy rain...that's the reason why the charging stations should be also under shelter like gas stations... why aren't the most?
I've tried to build a fast charger next to a ChopChop at another location in Sweden couple years ago. They refused 'cause they were afraid to "lose parking spots". Many businesses still doesn't understand EVs...
AC to DC is a rectifier. Adjusting the voltage would be a DC regulator I think.
I have a reoccurring donation for A Better Route Planner. I love it. I plan all the time just to see how well it does for a few hour trip.
Awesome trips. Shorter videos are nice for after work relaxing but sometimes longer is ok for other days too. Happy you made it home safely.
ABPR is always the Best, also with the i3 ! Good Job Bo !
HPC Map is easy: Use Next Plug App, select CCS and Telsa, and greater than 75 kW.
14:46 .. the combo that convinced me to go EV for my next (company) car. Seriously, I mean that. A good friend drives a polestar 2, and when I was asking him about the driving experience, charging, range, ... he told me. Watch some Björn Nyland videos, and check ABRP, try the car you would like to get, plan a route and see how it goes. I think I was convinced about 4h later.
Great series and a nice selection of background music. Thanks for that. Looking forwad to ne next one :)
14:55 for the guy from A Better Routeplanner (ABRP)
ABP is a great tool to assist planing a trip.
Also great to "test-driver" your probable long trips, before you decide on a car to order.
Will the suggested plan for the selected car be OK for me when I go on this particular trip.
Come on Tesla. Buy abrp and send out an update. We need waypoints.
congrats on 150k :D
Great web site, it helps our renters out of trip planning jams here in Brisbane a lot! Thanks 🙏
Tesla-Taxi-Millin QLD-HQ-Brisbane-Bear yep 👍 we added it and plug 🔌 share to our info pdf for renters today
Tesla-Taxi-Millin QLD-HQ-Brisbane-Bear do you know where to Rent a Tesla in Sydney?
Simon Plaît yes, us, pls see our site tesla taxi dot com dot au
Congrats bjorn 150k subs #gettingstronger
Love the vids. Australia is so backwards with charging infrastructure &
SHHHIIIIIIIEEEET (love it every time)
Hey Bjørn, not sure if you know, but right after you cross storbælt bridge, as you come from west to east, there is a super fast charger called "Clever / Eon quick charger".
Maybe try it out on your next trip.
+Sergiu Talnaci I've been there twice. You should watch my live streams if you have time ;)
And I thought I was particularly unlucky with 3 Ionity charging sessions in one stop... Ionity and Tesla really need to sort this out.
The approximate cost for the Charing for the entire trip would be cool to know! Also great work, your trip videos are great.
He has so many free supercharging credits that only the other chargers used would have been paid for.
But bugging Ionity can be expensive...
Nice video as always from uncle Bjørn. I drove 6442km this summer from near Oslo to South of France and back with Model S 75D. My average was 184 wh/km. And i was hammering too. Isnt 189 to much dor Model 3?
Hope this charging bug doesn't cause some damage, considering there is a high voltage and amperage that breaks abruptly.
Hey Björn, winter is coming soon. How to solve the issue with no way to put alpine ski’s in the Model 3 for daytrips skiing, when four persons going, so two persons in the back seats? Must annoy Norwegians. Yahh you can put on a skirack, but for a day trip in most ”ICE” cars you can fit them through the back seat, but not on a Model 3 though.. 😤
Maybe you can make a video about it?
Charging apps, charging providers, payment solutions: yes please!!
How much extra do you pay if you use Plugsurfing or other payment solutions?
Alternatives you miss, if you stick to Plugsurfing/other (like Grønn Kontakt is not available with PlugSurfing)?
What to look for at destinations: Payment options, connection types?
(I have been to hotels in Denmark, where they had red 11kW, optional danish Type-K "schuko". Some had danish-french adapter, some not.)
Possibility to register third party RFID to an account? (like Elbilforeningen-RFID/other)
I am just curious (especially when it is rainining to stay dry inside) could Tesla reboot renew charging session after ionity bug?
2:40 yeah i know that charger. I have the same Problems with that charger, the longest time i charged without interruption was 15min.
Sometimes the whole Charger locks up and gets red.
So i have to try another one, but they always keep bugging...
On the Tritium i have sometimes bugging and on the ABB it had never bugged... But i rarely charge on ABB so i can't say it for sure...
I'm not to sure if the "klunk" sound when it stopped is the same as the klunk sound when the battery cover expands...
For me i think its a actor who cuts the power to the battery.
MrTechfreak95 had the same issue on this charger as well in my model S with a CCS adapter.
Nice vid , Bjørn Nyland which car do you like best model 3 or the X ???
+zaferroni 3
For the next trip it would be good to tell us also the price per hotel room too, thanks
I did in many of the episodes. But as you probably know, the prices varies a lot. So it's not that relevant really. You can just google the price.
@@bjornnyland Thanks for the answer Bjorn, but for me when you present a hotel room, looks incomplete when you don't give the price for that room per night too, it's just my opinion and it's what I want to see in episodes with trip content, anyway I enjoyed all 9 episodes of your trip.
By the way, for me presenting the food and eating it's a very good thing (you told in one episode that you received some critic commentaries concerning this aspect)
It does not look like any of the Superchargers stations have any overhanging roofs. Why not, is there a reason why not beside costs? Gas stations have them! :)
9:30
9:30??? What does that mean?
Reference to the video. Just click on it.
I am assuming you mean at 9.30 of the video where the overhanging roofs used for solar panels but they don’t cover the areas where the cars park. They don’t protect users from Sun, Rain, Snow. Case in point, you had to escape into your car to escape the rain. In the US, the majority of the gas stations are covered.
FYI, Ferries are free for EV’s in Canada.
I heard about ferries in Norway but didn’t know Canada offered free EV rides in ferries. I wonder if this applies to BC ferry system too?
Bert 88 It seems that there is an association of Ferry operators in Quebec, and this may extend to other provinces / Canada. Private operators aren’t as benevolent. I’m referring to Ferry crossings across the St. Lawrence River.
They REALLY need to get around fixing the Ionity bug
Is is really a Ionity bug? Did the Kona experienced the same problem?
Porsche Design, but no roof :->
Good news: A german Model S raven has now (Helga) von Sinnen = ludicrous performance mode.
Bjorn how does the M3 compare to the e-Niro for quality of ride? For example I found my e-Niro gives a smoother ride than my Kona Electric did.. Is the M3 even better?
Looking forward to The EQC test :)
Why use the terrain view of gps? It feels to me like very unnecessary information. I always set it to 2d
Why deal with ionity hassle and just charge with Superchargers?
+jpmackin 192 kW
Do you use Ionity only for video purposes? Because you can survive on just Tesla supercharging if you wanted to, you have enough free credit from referrals to utilize as well
I believe several Ionity chargers are currently faster charging than superchargers (until V3 gets to Europe) - and the freedom to stop more places is probably worth the small cost of non-free electricity every now and again.
Great videos of your road trip, love it 👍🏻 I don’t understand why your are still wasting your time (and money) with these Ionity chargers 🤣
+Didier Toulouze 192 kW...
Bjørn Nyland And a pneumonia 🙄
What the Heck? You kept promised Dolly but you didn't deliver!
Is the charging bug fix a Tesla hardware fix or chargers? Hopefully if it is a Tesla fix then it will be on cars currently being made, like mine.
Tesla hardware
@@okkeharr thanks, thought that but couldn't be 100% sure.
ZAP map is good in UK
Tesla 3 and Køge SuperCharger :-)
Hey Bjørn, thanks again for that great video! How did you learn about a hardware fix for the HPC charging issue? Is there any further information? I'm asking because I'm having the same issues with IONITY and Fastned.
Maybe I dreamt it, but I thought I saw an article or post somewhere on a TSB to replace some plastic or rubber vent grills on the battery pack to fix this issue.
Here it is
mobile.twitter.com/raffaeru/status/1157916937235681280
The hardware fix is all over the news. Plus lots of people spammed me with the same news over and over again.
How was the experience with other ionity chargers?
Any battery degradation after this trip?
Only way to be sure is to charge fully then drive to near zero.
Just wait for V3 Supercharger.
250kw for model 3 already confirmed with customer tests. Good shiiiiiiiiet.
Is charging during rains in anyway dangerous ???
No the charge ports and connection are tasted to a minimum of IP44 standard. Which is fine for indirect rain fall
Maybe not dangerous but nothing for weak people. I'd love to have a roof in these charging places.
How long would it take to drive around the Baltic Sea, as a road trip?
+Angus Robertson Check Google?
@@bjornnyland Google says same distance as Perth to Sydney. So 2 weeks allowing some time for me being tourist? Also says Russia will not let anyone drive car in, so take ferry from Finland - Estonia.
i really want to know name of the song started on 20.50?
Hey again Bjørn!
Will you make some extreme cold and other tests in winter with model 3?
The extreme cold camping videos were cool! A livefeed with that would be awesome also! :)
Super talk to the guy from abetterrouteplanner a cool piece of tool :-)
You have exactly 150 000 subs oms
Do you own that model 3
Is that a question
Bjørn Nyland OMG I didn’t expect you will anserw, but yes it is question!
Ps. I am from Latvia and my dream car is model x!
@@dave9282To make it a question you have to add a question mark. (?) Bjørn is kind of strict on that. (And the answer is yes, he owns that car)
Harald Nygård ok thanks
How can I get “A better route planner”? I could not find it in the iPhone App Store?
Its an interactive Webside......
www.abetterrouteplanner.com .
I hope that was correct.......😁👍
Only Web based !
+jpmackin There's no app for it yet.
Bjørn Nyland an App would be great
They need to make an app, it need to be app based..
ABB: Always Be Bugging
European RF ID cards are such a pain in the a$$. Just use an app that accepts CC.
Heu Bjorn i 've been watching your videos the past 3 years now great stuff! I have 2 questions:
1. with all these road trips, how are your hemorrhoids :-)))
2. Isn't it dangerous to be in a car with so many batteries below you? Magnetic field wise etc.. Have you ever measured the mg field in the cabin?
Keep up the great work
DAErik did a video on EMF. Tesla seats are comfy
The batteries are in a metal box: no EM field outside. The metal cabin is also somewhat like a Faraday cage, it blocks EM field from the power-electric parts of the car.
@@dezz00002 OK! nice to know! Thanks a lot ! I'l love Bjorn to check the Sonos Sion in the near future too !
Add ‘In bed’ after you read your fortune cookie.
What are those horrible looking wheels on mchammer?
So dissapointed that you didnt go to Turkey or rest of the Europe...Always Germany, Sheeeeiiittt, U didnt even eat Kebab, National Dish of Germany lol
May enjoy watching this video: th-cam.com/video/DVSHIZihESk/w-d-xo.html
Better Route Planner does not accurately predict the energy usage for the trip uphill.
only 360p ... ?
Fiat Tipo wait mate :D
@@Deni_Ro 😂😂😂😂
Refresh
Personally I don't like "Abetterrouteplanner"
+Fil What is it about it that you don't like? I bet Bo will listen and improve :)
@@bjornnyland they could improve it to be more realistic. For example it calculates way to fast charging times at Ionity chargers on a route. Even though the chargers do support 350kw, no car does charge with that speed yet. So if they would put in the realistic charging speed for that model, that would be an improvement :)
I try comparing EV Trip Optimizer app. They both are decent options each are customizable to your driving style.
@@marcw8133 They use the charging curve for the cars, and for Ionity, there is no issue. Problem exists for (e.g.) the 175 kW chargers which only provide 175 kW at 900 V. As they are limited to 200 A, a M3 will only get around 75 kW. Only the Taycan would be able to get close to 175 kW. However, ABRP does not necessarily have the information on the maximum amperage, so make sure to check a plan for this.
When Ionity charger stops and you restart, you are billed once or 8 euro for each restart?
Elia6Kurtz
yes. you have to call support and they will sort it out (delete the second/third charge).
