    Still takes my breathe away. One of the most beautiful National Parks. Always feel proud to the lovely reports. So deserving. Thanks to all the workers who look after this beautiful mountain. Still call it home after 50 years.

      Thanks Judith, Of course as you’ll know you have to be lucky to even see the mountain 😀 its been missing in action my last three visits, or is the weather in Taranaki changing ? 😀 I’ve been regularly visiting (from Auckland) since the early 70’s when my best friend from our primary school days family moved to Inglewood from Wellington , sadly my friend died well before his time and his mum died unexpectedly (at 91) a couple of weeks back so my trips down for the funeral will be my last in a while I think. It’s certainly a very pretty drive along SH3 especially from Te Kuiti south , well apart from the road works 😀. I’m in the process of putting together a “final” Taranaki video using some of my old images from other videos , some new ones as well as yet unseen in car videos like all those one way bridges in the back blocks around the mountain. Cheers Chris.

    Enjoyed that immensley Chris. I think if ever I got to NZ Taranaki would be on top of my list on the North Island... it just looks so magnificent. Loved the waterfall shot btw. The contrast between the green of the trees and that almost ruler like line where the snow begins is something special. Good episode. Atb from a wet Wales. Atb Al

      Hi Alan, thanks a lot . Glad you enjoyed this one. A lot of tourists miss this area if they are on a tight time schedule but the whole of Taranaki is pretty interesting from the coastline to the mountain. They do have saying though which is “if you can see the mountain it just rained and if you can’t it is raining” . Happy weekend from a wet and rainy Auckland, we’ve had two months of this already , normally we just quietly rust from July to November ! 😀

    • @Chris-NZ
      @Chris-NZ  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks Jennifer, Mt Taranaki certainly dominates the landscape. Fun fact, the film “The Last Samurai” (Tom Cruise and a very good cast) was filmed here with the mountain standing in for Mt Fuji. Consider yourselves lucky you can drive to another country, we would need to take a 3000km (non existent) ferry service first for that to happen. 😀😄

    • @JenniferLupine
      @JenniferLupine 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Chris-NZ Ah, yes! We’ve seen the Last Samurai! Very nice!! If I see it again I’ll pay closer attention!
      I guess we’re spoiled, we can get in the car and drive to lots of places here in the US, and Canada too, though the border has just re-opened after covid. We live just 1 1/2 hours from BC, it’s closer than Oregon or Idaho- lol. But it’s hard to cross anyway since there have been terrorist issues, so we’ve only gone 2-3 times in the last 20 years. I haven’t ever looked at the cost of flying to NZ, whew. I have a friend who’s husband is from there- they go every 3-4 years to see family. I’ll just have to enjoy your wonderful photos and video as a travel substitute for now 😁😉💕

      Hi Gracie, glad you liked this one. I have really close friends in Taranaki (since the mid 70’s) so have trundled up and down from Auckland a lot in that time so I know the area pretty well. Hi there, thanks a lot. NZ is pretty much the same size as the UK in land area although about 1/13th the population its also very elongated so that the climate and landscape in the top of the North Island (almost subtropical) is very different to the southern end of the South Island some 2200 km away and of course most notably our nearest neighbour is a three hour flight away !! Thanks for you kind comments and support 😀

      Well done Max, only managed a long walk up past the Camp house on the northern side and quite a few of those bush walks you can do from the camp house. The drive up to the camp house was one of mums favourites when we were there. Of course the big deal was free-wheeling down in the bikes and cars , we could get all the way to Egmont Village on a good day !! If you are into geology you might like this channel th-cam.com/video/ehK0oPgWYjA/w-d-xo.html , they do some really interring local stuff.

    Chris that was so so good . Dawson Falls was beautiful and Mount Taranaki from the visitor centre was really beautiful . I loved the camp entrance seeing the snowy mountain which I'm guessing was Taranaki ? And I loved that camp house where you said that you've sat many times contemplating:) I wondered what you meant by Warwick Castle because I couldn't see a castle there but I am watching on my phone, unless it's called that because of the shape ? This was brilliant, I really enjoyed it :) ~ Anna

      Hi there, Mt Taranaki is certainly a very beautiful mountain from which ever side you look at it. Away from the busy holiday times the visitor area on the north is extremely peaceful and I have spent a lot of time up there over the years just taking in the peace and quiet and thinking about the people I’ve spent time with on the mountain, some of whom have since passed away. Thanks for taking the time to visit my channel and view a number of my postings , much appreciated. Cheers Chris.
