I climbed Mt Taranaki last Summer. It's the most amazing view. You can see all the way to Wellington.
It must be about to rain. There's an old saying in Taranaki - if you can see the mountain it's about to rain and if you can't see it it's raining already.
haha yeah very true! it was sad when we arrived and we couldn't see the mountain for nearly a week! :(
Glad you got some good weather for your hike up the Mt. Crazy to be above the clouds and looking down from there.
Hope you didn't get sun burnt or heat stroke from that 17C :P
How are you finding NZ temperatures compared to Europe and Ireland?
It's actually called Mount Taranaki not Mount Egmont
If you do this trek, it is well worth it to walk a few extra km to henry peak. Just keep walking straight past the lake and the view is even more stunning. I did this wth my 40 year old mum with little experience, difficult but definately doable. Unfortunately we had to wait 1 hour to see the view 😭
Glen did you go to that Irish pub for the game ! 🍾
It was 8am here in Nz 😂😂 I watched the second half when I got out of bed! It’s very unfortunate 🙁
@@GlenAndMado it’s now 10 am here in nz
@@Innerlight320 I mean the match started at 8am 😜😂 we’re the pubs even open??
@@GlenAndMado For rugby with Nz in a world cup you bet they are ! 😀
❤❤❤ from Nepal
pleasure to have you here, nepal is amazing!
Awesome video as always guys. Takes me back to my teenage years when my father would take my step brother and I tramping over the Mt Taranaki ranges.
Hope you enjoyed my friend :) its nice to know that this video brought back good memories of your child hood! its truly a beautiful place indeed. Hope your having a great weekend so far!
It's called mount taranaki not egmont
For generations, Taranaki Māori battled for official restoration of the mountain's Māori name. In 1986 the New Zealand Geographic Board approved the name change, and the following year it was announced both Taranaki and Egmont would be the official names for the mountain. It is called both actually lol
Nobody in New Zealand call it Mt Egmont anymore, we are trying where possible to restore Maori place-names. Btw, the tracks going off the main track with the coloured shape markers are usually department of conservation trap lines with predator traps.
@@GlenAndMado both of you know nothing about my country and its history, it has always been known as Taranaki Māunga!! Let it be known.
Ease up friend, Captain Cook called it Mt Egmont just as a navigation point, I doubt very much he landed there and probably never knew what Māori called it until much later @@harpyhill
Chill out, mate@@harpyhill No need to go all keyboard warrior on this awesome couple who are just trying to share their experience travelling around this fine country.
Congratulations G&M on another great video. You two must be getting super fit 😉
yeah I think so! we definitely should do it more though 😂😂
Love your videos guys. You seem to be having a great trip in NZ. Keep up the good work ....... and I love Mado's Irish accent / did you teach her Glen? lol
Good information ❤
Cool video!
Those bush tracks off the side of the main track are trap lines. Set traps for possums, rats, stoats etc.. I work trap lines in the Wellington, Porirua area
I know when you wake up the next day your legs will be really sore
Beautiful Views
Mounga Taranaki ❤
Are u still here, where are you located
Its Mt Taranaki in Egmont national park
Its got dual names and either are OK.

Mildly offensive to say mt Egmont. Mt taranaki to local. Grear vlog btw
Hardly offensive. Only to the precious folks.
@tylerdobdob23 I said mildly offensive. Also no one says Egmont
@@tc88888888 plenty of people still do.
