Great video, as always! My little ritual is talking to the cards as if they were my friends, saying things like "Hey cards! How are you today?" and then I explain to them what issue I'm worry about or ask them what message they have for me at that moment. At the end of the reading, I say "Thank you, cards! Have a good day/night".
I really enjoyed getting a behind the scene look at how you do your readings. I’ve been involved with Tarot for two years now and still enjoy the learning process. There’s a lot of information out there from various sources, but you’re my guiding light. Thank you.
I love your videos! You have a nice energy! Two hints about lighting sage- one, light a candle with your match first and then light the sage from your candle. No more burnt fingers! And two, if you cut off the black, burnt end of your sage stick, you will expose the clean leaves and it will light much more easily. It will probably smell better too. I personally unravel the big bundles to get multiple smaller branches. Just cut the string off and work it apart. I keep the individual stems and branches in a jar. This way I get a fresh piece of sage for every lighting! One stem gives off tons of smoke! Anyway, thanks for the video! 😊
Very interesting as always. I read on the phone. Once logged into the net clients come fast and furious and there is little time to think but get on with the next person. At the beg. I ask the angelic realms for help and guidance. Cleaning the cards in between readings I use a mini singing bowl a friend bought me , luv n light x I will try the smudging may be at the beg.
Thx fr sharing! A drop of essential oil in the middle of the sage part you’re going to light will help it get going. Those big bundles always are hard to light!
I like when it smokes more. I usually get the smaller( 4-5”? )bundle. I pull the bundle apart though because it helps for them to catch the flame better. I think it’s cause oxygen can get to the one piece whereas in the bundle it’s all clustered together. I’d like to address what you said about how you can ask questions in a live reading but can not in the method you usually do. On the flip side the customer can’t ask questions when it’s not live. For myself I prefer in person or at least on the phone. I prefer they start the reading without my telling them my questions for several reasons. As they are doing the reading you can get an idea if they are picking things up accurately , if they are any good. And also even though I usually have some questions in mind, depending on what they tell me will dictate how I ask my question and maybe some some questions I didnt have in mind will pop up.
My large bundle of sage, like yours, also takes a long time to get going, so I loosened the tie around it. That helped as I found they are too tightly bound to stay lit. We have very similar rituals. I also found that by cutting off bits of sage and popping them into my abalone shell then burning them in the shell and wafting the smoke from there helped a lot too.
Thanks for this tip - the big bundle that I have is so tightly wrapped and my homemade ones are quite loose in comparison, so I guess that's why they catch easier. I've yet to try burning loose sage mainly because I'm worried it will fly everywhere once I start waving the feather around!
@@DailyTarotGirl take an old sieve and pop it over the top of your shell or bowl after lighting the sage (I detached the handle of an old one) it will stop ashes flying everywhere but still allow the smoke to rise for you to waft it 👍👍👍
so glad to see this type of video. you helped me when I first started out in the spring. :) much love to you and the journey you're on. I , too love the everyday witch.
I miss our lessons and live chats with you! I'm in EST and our live chats last year were always a helpful, thoughtful, and restorative pause in the middle of an endless to-do list.
Thanks for sharing. I just read for myself. I have a big sage Bundle like that, and I find that if I hold it with the end I want to light directly above the flame, that the flame goes deep all into the sage, whereas holding the sage along side of the match, the flame is only on the very very edge of the sage. So basically, the end I want to light is upside down directly above my flame. I still have to hold it there a long time, but it does seem to light more of it, and deeper in it. ☺️
Thankyou for sharing that with us. I love tarot and try to pull a daily card, but i haven"t got a system worked out, maybe that is why alot of my readings don't make sense, or i cant relate to it, even at the end of the day.
Yeah, I find having a system or ritual that I go through is really helpful. And it doesn't have to be long or in-depth either, just something simple like lighting a candle and taking a min before the reading to connect with yourself can make a big difference.
Hi Kate 🙂☺️ i kinda read them the same way but i like recording my voice on ig .. i think i know him so well, that i dont need to ask him questions anymore .. ☺️. recording your voice is great cuz u can always go back n listen to it.. Also, I love my Every Day Witch tarot ..🙃..
So lovely of you to share your process wth all of us. I usually light a candle and a stick of incense. I choose a crystal and bring out my pendulum. I like to clear my space as I invite spirit in to provide insight for the highest good. If the reading is for myself, I tend to read with the moon cycles, I journal and draw, or just splash color to write on. Many blessing to you and all who watch. 🐬
Thanks for sharing! I have a very similar method for distance readings, I sit down, relax, breathe in, and then before I start I ask for my Spirit Guide to help me deliver the best reading possible. Then, to know I'm ready to start reading, I focus for a moment or two, and when I feel a warm, calming presence around me, I know I'm recieving their assistance. It's really nice. Finally, once the reading is over, i shuffle my cards, thank my Spirit Guide and pick a card I feel resonates with me to put on top of my deck facing forwards, so that next time I use my cards it's the first one I see. :)
Thanks for sharing your experiences here, Bab :) I know that warm, calming feeling you mention and it's always a good feeling when you're doing a reading - makes me know I'm connected to the person I'm reading for.
SO insightful, thankyou so much for sharing your experience. Im endeavouring to become a reader and the information ive seen in you videos has been great!
First time viewer, enjoyed the video. Gave it a thumbs up and just subbed! Wish I could have seen this in January because I would definitely have loved to have had a Tarot reading.
Kate, this video is amazing! Thank you so much for all the helpful tips, advice, and mystical insights. I look forward to implementing this into my own readings.
Great video, I love your connecting and disconnecting process. Is there a reason you don't do (unless you do but just didn't mention it) readings over video call, which would allow you to ask questions to your client during the reading?
I used to do readings this way and honestly, I hate it! I just feel rushed the whole time and I've noticed that I can tune into someone's energy much better when I'm not seeing them or talking to them, which I know sounds odd and you'd think it would be the opposite, but for me, having the person right there feels overwhelming to me. I can do in person readings, parties, etc, and I do live, one card readings for people when I do my youtube lives, but I've just found doing readings the way I prefer (remotely, recorded audio) is where my reading skills shine the most.
I have to tell you how much I liked and appreciated this video. I love your space for your readings.... it looks so beautiful and calming. I would totally feel comfortable reading there also. Thank you Tammy! I am really happy that you've been finding my videos so helpful in your Tarot journey :) That is really nice to hear. And I'm glad you've got the Everyday Witch and Dame Darcy decks - those are two of my most loved and used decks!
Thank you Kate, I truly enjoyed this video! My sister and I have been enjoying our tarot decks for many years but have only ever read for ourselves and each other and family. Never others. This video is a wonderful process for us to maybe trust ourselves enough to go that next step. I’ve picked up many tips ready for it. I love how you encourage people to trust their intuition rather than learn the cards by memory. I look forward to hopefully receiving a reading from you during your summertime, I’ll follow your process for that later in the year. 👏🏼✨I’m in Australia so it would be winter here 😊 Many blessings to you.
Hi Megan! I'm so glad you enjoyed this video and found it helpful :) Thank you for watching and commenting and I hope I get to give you a reading one day! Hugs, Kate
I have to do the same thing with my store-bought sage, too -- it will not smolder very long at all! My go-to ritual for reading for others includes a lot of specific breathing techniques -- probably because I'm a yoga teacher. :)
thank you kate for sharing. i begin my readings very much the same as you. but use incense or if i am in a place where i ma not allowed to burn anything i use energy and visualisation to cleanse and connect. have a magical 2020!
Hi Kate! My question is about follow up questions. I know you said you disconnect at the end of the reading ~ if their is a follow up question, how do you reconnect (even remember) the reading? Second ~ do you limit the number of questions? I’ve been told not to even offer because quite often you end up doing what amounts to another reading for the client, especially if they keep sending you more questions. Just wondering how you handle that and if that’s been an issue for you. Thanks!
Great questions, Barbara! I tell my clients they can ask up to 3 questions for the reading. I keep pictures of every reading, so if they have a follow up question, I pull up the picture and it kind of jogs my memory, however, I ask my clients to ask any follow up questions within 1 week of getting their reading, otherwise I have a hard time remembering the reading. The follow up questions must be about something I said in the reading, not a totally new, unrelated question. I never pull extra cards for follow up questions, I just re-visit the picture of their reading. When I first started offering readings like this, I worried that people would bombard me with endless follow up questions. However, out of all the readings I've done, I don't think that's ever happened! People actually RARELY ask a follow up question. I like to think it's because my readings are so comprehensive and thorough!
Hi, I'm just getting started and find your videos very helpful. Can you please tell me if you do the sage cleanse between each of the readings you do for your clients? Thanks!
Good to hear! Yes, I sage between client readings. Unless I'm doing a tarot party, where I'm doing lots of quickie readings back to back, then I don't sage at all.
I know this is an older video and I’m not sure if you’ve covered this in any other videos. But with sticking to a particular tarot Spread, if you ask a client if they have any questions, how do you incorporate a clients question into a spread that’s not specific to that? Like your new years spread.
Sometimes what I do is slightly change a couple spots in the spread to incorporate their questions - this usually works well for a large, 9 card spread. Another thing i do is just use the original spread and see if any of the cards speak to their question - if they don't, I will draw an extra 1 - 3 cards at the end to answer the specific question.
Hey there. Sooo I just stumbled across your videos and subscribed. Thank you for them! They are helpful! You mentioned that you’ve read for a long time… and that you do distance readings a lot. My question is … how did you make those connections to people in others countries? Do you have a website and it’s chance? I am new. And loved doing blind readings like this. I’ve had some success… but need to get myself out there more. Any suggestions there ?
Hi Samantha! I have a website and I'm on social media (youtube, pinterest and facebook mainly) and this is how I have connected with people all over the world. I know there are various groups on facebook (and perhaps other platforms), like the Tarot Nerds Facebook group, where you can practice your tarot skills on others. You might want to check those out :) Good luck!
Thank You for sharing! Is there a reason you light your sage bundle with a match instead of a lighter? just curious... i noticed most readers use matches while i use a lighter. Am I missing something?
I've been doing readings on myself for quite some time but recently was told by a TH-cam professional reader that this will never work and to not do readings on myself. I love doing daily readings on myself, it's sort of like a meditation and helps me relax, although I feel drained afterwards. Some readers are so arrogant and make it seem like their way is the only way. Because of her comment I'm feeling discouraged and considering never reading tarot again. I'm a Pisces and this is the way I've lived all my life, do things because of the things others say....I'm tired of not having anything for me with out others interfering. What do you think?
I think you should completely ignore what that reader told you! I've been reading tarot for over 10 years and doing self readings have always been a big part of my tarot practice. In fact, I think it's a bit strange when readers only read for others and never for themselves! So that's my opinion. Hopefully it sways you to continue doing your self readings - it sounds like they are very helpful to you :)
Sometimes I do, sometimes I don't. If it's a big reading on an important topic, I do all the stuff - clearing, intention setting, etc. If it's a minor reading, I don't always bother.
I have a question for you. What spread is good for someone to use if they are doing a reading on someone else? Say... there spouse like if she not around they just pick up the cards and ask how does my husband/wife feels about me? Or will our marriage survive.
Thanks for the info. I am fascinated by Tarot Cards and i was going to learn more about tarot readings but a friend told me that its dangerous to dabble in it. That i might unknowingly invite and connect with evil spirits or bad energies. She said even good spirits are a no no coz the spirits , good or bad will latch themselves on to me and won't leave. This got me worried. What advice can you give me ..?
Hi Jackie, I did a whole video on this very topic! you can see it here: th-cam.com/video/8STfOklLlpY/w-d-xo.html The short answer is that you won't attract negative entities by working with Tarot - Tarot is more of a portal into your own psyche rather than a portal into the spirit realm. you will be okay if you get a Tarot deck.
Hello, Kate! I got a question that's bothering me for a while. I saw someone commenting (not in your videos) that you cannot ask questions while you're giving the answer. Is that true? Sometimes I ask some questions so I can improve my advices...
Sometimes I ask questions, too. It depends. I prefer not to but sometimes it's necessary and sometimes the card that shows up demands a question, not an answer!

Sometimes I do, sometimes I don't. If it's a big reading on an important topic, I do all the stuff - clearing, intention setting, etc. If it's a minor reading, I don't always bother.
Hi! Thanks for sharing! I also would like to know how can I get a tarot reading from you :)
Hi Alessandra! Thanks for your interest in my readings :) I will be offering them on my website in January :) daily-tarot-girl.com
I have a question for you. What spread is good for someone to use if they are doing a reading on someone else? Say... there spouse like if she not around they just pick up the cards and ask how does my husband/wife feels about me? Or will our marriage survive.
For that topic, I would use this Relationship spread: daily-tarot-girl.com/tarot-card-spreads/relationship-tarot-spread/

Hi Jackie, I did a whole video on this very topic! you can see it here: th-cam.com/video/8STfOklLlpY/w-d-xo.html
The short answer is that you won't attract negative entities by working with Tarot - Tarot is more of a portal into your own psyche rather than a portal into the spirit realm. you will be okay if you get a Tarot deck.
Interesting that you knock your tarot deck. I do the same and I don't know why either.
