    I practice readings using problem pages in magazines. 9 times out of 10 my advice will match what the agony aunt's advice is. It also helps to see how the nuances in the cards adapt to day to day problems in life.

    Great tips, thanks so much! My problem with doing a reading is the opposite of yours where I have trouble coming up with and interpretation quickly enough and then finding enough to say.

    I just started tarot and asked strangers online to send in questions so I could practice. I may have completely underestimated the time it took to give readings, lol. Despite it taking up a lot of time, I've had some really great readings so far.

    A wrap up method I use and signal that I'm wrapping up the reading is to say "One more thing before we end/wrap up (say the one thing).' I never ask if they have any questions because that always leads to the client extending the reading past the given time.

    • @DailyTarotGirl
      @DailyTarotGirl  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That is a VERY good tip - I love that. I do sometimes feel like I'm opening a can of worms by asking if they have any more questions near the end of the reading, so I think I'll try your method next time.

    Asking a clarity question; remind of time sensitivity, what is ONE QUESTION you have for the Tarot today? A question within a question, Let's choose one of those questions, what's the most important question to read on? You cannot adequately address these questions in 10 minutes and you shouldn't try. Exploration; yes, resolution, no. Aim for a satisfying short reading. Turn their heavy question into a lighter question. "Why did my marriage fall apart?" transform that into "what can I do to move forward right now?" leads to insightful and uplifting reading. Simplify or vague the question, how to be most helpful, notice yourself when rambling, practice on imaginary people, be simple and concise in interpretations, practice wrapping readings up, re-cap the reading, touch on key points, how can I make the most out of this 10 minutes? Focus it on them and what they can do right now to improve things.

      I often feel this way too - I hate keeping readings short to be honest. The only time I feel that I must stick to a time limit is at a tarot party where I'm reading for lots of people in one night. Otherwise, I quite often go overtime with my readings.

      I find it's very helpful to work with a deck you really connect with. The deck can feel so comfortable and natural that it's like connecting with a good friend. I feel that it allows you to be more open not only to the traditional meanings but also to your intuition which can help you get deeper, richer meanings from the cards. Best of luck!

  • @HeadstoneRestorer

    I sometimes find that when I ask the client to clarify a question, ie, simplify the question, they sometimes find that the answer they're looking for from the cards is coming out of their mouth. Which is good for the client, but then they decide they don't need a reading as they have verbally resolved their issue. Not so good for business haha! :)

    I use a storytelling tarot spread, whats your view on storytelling spreads? i dont have to worry about what each card is for representing i just tell a flowing story. It works for me. Not a professional but i get accurate readings lol. And it helps me with your method of using intuition aswell

    • @DailyTarotGirl
      @DailyTarotGirl  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Oh cool! Can you share the spread? I don't have any "storytelling" spreads, but that sounds like it would be really helpful.

    • @witchiegemini6518
      @witchiegemini6518 4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @@DailyTarotGirl yeah draw 3 cards and that's it moving from left to right talk about each card what you see, feel and all that just like a normal reading blend the story into the next sence do the same there and then into the 3rd sence do the same there and then you find your self blending and use using card 1 to prove your point about card 3 and you still get a conclusion. 10min and accurate. Ive read 3 people as im new using this method and all have been accurate i even left a lady in tears lol. But no need to remember what card1 is for or card 2 just speak what you see and feel

    I have recently started learning how to read tarot...and i am having an extreme difficult time remembering what the cards mean...i will do a 3 card spread and forget everything...i know it says to use intuition but i seriously lose everything and have to look up every single card. Im usually great at studying and memorizing things but for the life of me i am struggling...any suggestions would be so hepful

    • @LuluBowenTarot
      @LuluBowenTarot 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Quick hint. Worked very well for me.
      a) write down 3 - 5 words per card. i.e. number = what... all 5's mean change, 2's mean choice, 9 Attainment, 10 Completion, etc, etc. then pick just pick 2 or 3 words per card that are easy to remember and will trigger the 'meaning'. i.e. for me, 6 Wands words are = Perseverance, Victory, Move Fwd, Fulfill Goals, Success, Political Victory.
      b) Write it down on a single sheet, then,
      c) play games.
      - Pull one card and try to remember the words - make a game of it. 5 secs a card. Don't remember it? Move on. If you struggle, just start with one-word per card, and build up.
      - Once you can do it easily with one card, pull two and try run the meaning from card 1 to card 2,
      - then 3rd very powerful game: take the 2 two cards and blend the meaning.
      - Final game: layout the cards in a 3 card spread, Pos 1 would be a Positive, Pos 2 a Negative and Pos 3 an Opportunity. Run through the deck and using the keywords build a story - at this stage it isn't a reading - just a learning game. 5 secs per card, then move on.
      This is brilliant for taking cards and flipping their meanings from positive to negative without reversing. i.e. 10 Swords in a positive position, is "the ability to recognise you've hit rock bottom and the only way is up and you have the strength to do that." etc, etc
      I don't use reverse cards because of how I learnt to remember the card meanings that are relevant to me.
      These 'games' are in many many of the tarot learning books and I found when I spend 15 - 30 mins at one sitting, playing with the cards, my knowledge of the cards without thinking about them too much grew in leaps and bounds.
      Once you have this down, then remembering the card meanings are really much easier and when you 'read' your spread you can focus more on the interpretation instead of racking your brains to remember or reaching for a book. I'll add that because you will move to using different decks, I found that if I tried to 'memorise' the meaning based on the content/pictures of the card, then using a different deck I'd get confused. Above system removed that issue, I can now read from a deck of playing cards. Images help but are not the most important IMO.
      I'd add, I had about 6 Tarot Books with definitions, and sat and amalgamated all - avoided astrology since I've no knowledge nor interest and used what works for me. If it is the same meaning for you every time - then it is the right interpretation.

    • @DailyTarotGirl
      @DailyTarotGirl  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      This is a very common issue that people run into when learning Tarot. I loved Lulu's suggestions, those are all great. When you're doing a reading, don't put pressure on yourself, just "play" with the reading, give yourself time to sit with each card and notice what symbols stand out to you - and what do those symbols mean to you? What are the characters on the card doing? What is the feel you get when you look at the card? I actually have a video on how to learn the cards (without using memorization) and you might find it helpful: daily-tarot-girl.com/learn-tarot/7-tarot-tips-learning-tarot-card-meanings/
      Good luck, Christina!
