Great video but please do something about that mic, every time you move your hands on the table there’s a loud clonking sound, very annoying when you need to concentrate on what’s being said ❤
American here and I have been speaking English my whole life and this lesson really made me realize stuff to which I have never really paid attention. I love your channel.
Yes, and the next logical question is; 'Why don't we spell it like we say it, given the fact that we have a alphabetic character to represent each sound?
OMG that was a really great lesson, thanks 🥰 Is the z / s pronounciation rule the same in american english ? edit: st 08:09 is a mistake with plural of live ;)
Happy Birthday Madame Lucy..... Many many happy returns of the day..... May God ,the Almighty bless you always and may you live long. Loads of love delivered to you on this auspicious day from India 🇮🇳🇮🇳🇮🇳💟💟💟

Great lesson! By mistake the plural of "life" was written on the board as loaves. A lesson on countable and uncountable nouns would be great as a follow-up to this one ☺ Thank you❤

Here we go ,she comes with her magnificent and good lesson , pronouncing from phonemes to a word correctly as natives according to international phonetic transcription is very hard for none- natives
It's really useful. Thank you so much from Viet Nam. I've been looking for this video for a long time and I find it the most easiest way to understand, practice and remember. I'll try my best to practice make perfect. ❤
I have scored the quiz 8/10 😄☺!!!♡ The lesson is really helpful ! That's AMAZING! This is exactly what I wanted. Useful tips and learning materials. Thanks million! Love you 💖
Hi Lucy! I love your videos and use them quite often in my classes as they're so practical and delivered in a fun way! Thank you so much! 🙏 Just a couple of points about this video (which doesn't take away from its general excellence!) - first of all, has it now become acceptable in RP English to pronounce the /ʊ/ sound in book, look and put as /ʌ/, ie. like "buck" as opposed to "book"? Also, I know someone's already pointed out that the plural of life is lives, not loaves, but shouldn't the symbol for those irregular plurals be /z/ rather than /iz/?
Yes, lovely Lucy... Indeed, it's pretty easy to pronounce plurals, even for me, as the sevillian man that I am ,who usually doesn't pronounce the last consonants in spanish. Cheers from Seville, dear!! 🧔🏻👍🏻🇬🇧🇪🇦
I’ve learnt a lot from this lesson Lucy! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 Spaniard as I am it has always been a mystery for me differentiating this plural pronunciations 🤦🏻♂️. Please check the misspelling of LIVES in your blackboard… 😅
*A really useful and captivating lesson! Thanks dear Teacher so much!* *P.S. Happy birthday, cutest Lucy! I'm your real fan and I wanna wish you the best of luck! Keep up doing your* *flawless teaching job! May you roads always be smooth and your burdens always be light! Happy Birthday Ma'am!*
Thank you very much Lucy for your instructive video! I had recently looked up the plural of goose, geese. Interesting that the "oo" becomes "ee". Greetings Pascal (56) from Germany
Could you please make a medical vocabulary video?? I'm a medical student and I've been trying to switch from french to english. I'd like to at least know some basics and if possible some tv shows/ documentaries recommendations so that I can see how things happen in real life. Thank you for your hard work 💖💖💖
thank you Lucy for your great video , I always learn something new by watching your videos & I wanna say I have a request of you , if it's possible for you from now on each time you want to make a video no matter what it is about( pronunciation , grammar , ...) please do it level by level and finish that topic because as you know when we want to watch a video for example about grammar sometimes it's not complete or doesn't have a second part and even sometimes the problem is that we can't find the video we want to see because most of the videos do not follow each other's topic , so we will be so grateful if you accept this request and arrange videos or do this for the next time if it's possible for you
Would you be so kind as to explain why your l sounds so soft. Is it your personal idisyncrasy or is it typical for British way of pronunciation? In the American way of speaking l sounds more hard.
Lucy thanks very much for this video and I think it is clear and helpful. I wonder is it only me or anyone else found that there is barely no differences between "month" and "months". How could we know it's plural then😂
Thanks a lot for these useful tips, Lucy. I remember you gave the same rule to pronounce -ed- . Love the way you simplify all the confusing moments! Despite some exceptions, English is quite logical - that`s what I`ve understood.

Happy Birthday Lucy. 🎂 Hope you have a wonderful weekend 😊
OMG that was a really great lesson, thanks 🥰 Is the z / s pronounciation rule the same in american english ?
edit: st 08:09 is a mistake with plural of live ;)
yep
The only difference I noticed as an American English speaker was that I sometimes pronounce moths with the z sound.
@@zarraenla /th/ is a voiceless consonant so you should say /s/ not /z/ with it. So, it’s moth/s/ not moth/z/.
@@V3VoVo When I pronounce the z sound I also voice the th sound. Kind of like the difference between wolf and wolves.
