Bob's reaction when he opened the slip is what makes him the best game show host in history. To be able to pivot like that to a story that drags things out is absolutely perfect.
There were certainly more contestants winning big amounts of money in Punch A Bunch with Bob Barker than there were with Drew Carey. With Drew Carey, the amounts seem to be much lower.

@@coreypayne1208 an unfortunate and very notorious practice done mainly by ABC and NBC. And with the newer technology, everything looks way better than it did when it first aired 40+ years ago.
When I was a kid I thought that guy you saw way up the back sitting in that booth by the door when the contestants come down to contestants row, was Johnny Olsen.
I kind of wondered if Bob ever/always knew where the big winners are in games like Punch-a-Bunch. I mean I could see if it was a game where you were trying to guess the price of a car, he may know ahead of time, but with ones like this one, does he actually know where the $10,000 and 5,000 sits or is it done randomly by one of the assistants? Also I wonder if the show is partially paid for by the company's whose products appear on the show (like Bissel). I wonder if that's where some of the funding comes from, and through "donations" from companies like Ford and Chevy for the larger items, like cars. I mean part of me seems that people tend to win a lot of money on this show fairly easily, even for big ticket items like cars, and I couldn't see a seat costing someone more than $100 per person at most.... I'm sure selling the show to broadcasting companies also generates revenues which helps pay for the prizes. I mean I Know that someone has probably done the math and they have stats to tell them that a certain percentage of people will only win a certain amount of money (either in prizes or cash) and that say 40% of the prizes are not claimed (due to contestants not winning the games) each episode. I also find it a bit amusing that with cars, they tend to give away the base model vehicle.. don't get me wrong, a "free" car (not including the usual tax and title and licensing fees) is a free car, but it always seems that they are the base model. Either way, if I won one, I'd still take it.
I think the '90s will come later. The episodes here are from the mid '70s and early '80s, sans episodes in which fur coats or leather jackets were given away.
Can we go back in the 80s?? Imagine if we can go backbite see all the people in our lives who are now gone like our parent and live ones, will see them soon enough with our Savior JESUS CHRIST!!!
