It is up to you to educate yourself and treat yourself. Your doctor is nothing more than a pharmacist. Very few doctors today are actually doctors they have been medically trained to be nothing more than pill, pushing pharmacists

High levels of homocystein is bad ,but is there any role for homocystein in nature?is there a reason why it exists ?
Methionine Cycle and Metabolism Thereof with its Homocystinuria Pathology (Autosomal Recessive Inheritance) and Differentiation (DDx) of Marfan Syndrome (Ectopia Lentis Morphology Upward and Out Dislocation). The Signs and Symptomes of Homocystinuria are Marfanoid Habitus, Developmental Delay and Intellectual Disability, and Premature Atherosclerosis. 1) In Methionine Synthase Deficiency (MSD), Homocysteine can not be Transaminated to Methionine with the characteristic Laboratories of Methioninopenia (Methionine Decreased) and Homocysteinosis (Elevated Homocysteine). The Treatment is Dietary Methionine Indication, a High Diet of Methionine and Cobalamin (Vitamin B12) Supplementation. 2) In Methyl Tetrahydrofolate Reductase Deficiency (MTHFRD), presents identical to MSD and treatment is High Methionine Diet with Folate (Vitamin B9) Supplementation. 3) In Cystathionine Beta Synthase Deficiency (CBSD), Laboratories and Diagnosis thereof will show Methioninosis and Homocysteinosis where a Low Methionine Diet is Indicated thereby. Folate and Cyanocobalamin along with Pyridoxine (Vitamin B6) are also indicated and Cysteine Supplementation. In the Differentiation of Marfans Syndrome, Intellectual Ability is Present, Autosomal Dominant Inheritance of FBN1 Gene Mutation (Chromosome 15 Encoding Fibrillin-1) making highly supple joints (Hyperextensible Joints) and Congenital Propensity for Aortic Aneurysms/Dilatations Exist. Treatment is Supportive and Prophylactic ie Beta Blockers (Beta Adrenergic Antagonist Class) for possible Hypertension. I have just treated a superstar Baller for Sudden Heart Failure due to Fibrillin-1 Aneurysm. The Treatment is Avoiding 100 Million Dollar Contracts. Just kidding. MD Paul W. curious why you would chose cyanobalamin? If you're wanting to use a cobalamin without the methyl group you could opt for hydroxycobalamin or adenosylcobalamin vs the cyanocobalamin, which they would then have to detox the cyanide. Dr Bolin does not make mention of what particular cobalamin he would use in this situation. (Often drs will refer to COMT for guidance as to which cobalamin is optimal for the patient.)
