Ronnie was shortsighted, impatient and couldn’t see the entire chessboard. He didn’t have that pension for strategy and long-range thinking how other characters on Power have showcased. Ronnie was more of that iron fist as opposed to Unique who was more of a velvet glove. Unique had charm combined with a strategic mind, and a degree of ruthlessness when the situation called for it. Intimidation, brute force, and being feared will only take you so far, but it hindered Ronnie’s ability to adapt and see the whole board.

raising kanaan can go 10 seasons, they have alot of stories to run, the death of ghost's father, rollo and the rsk territory, breeze's death, kanaan being set up, young ghost and tommy with angela and tasha. This is most rich power series, story wise
Personally i think that if they have the show run that long then in the finale we see kanan get set up by ghost a tash see him go to jail then time skip to ghost buying truth then credits

I did consider this, but I don't think so because if that was the case Unique would have wanted to be the one to get revenge. Joey Badass also said in the post episode 10 interview that his mindset will be thinking of revenge because he'll be feeling mad that he didn't get to kill his brother. So I personally don't think Unique and Kanan were working together behind the scenes on this one

Ronnie was the classic red herring character. People were only enamored by him because he showed a trait or 2 that appeared similar to the little information we have on Breeze. However, if you take those away, he was never really an interesting character at all. He was a robotic, monotone, anti social, and one note character that was expendable. His only purpose was to move the story from point A to B. The writers toyed with the fans emotions because of their desperate obsession with Breeze. Ronnie was an easy tool the writers could use for a misdirection when the REAL BREEZE may have been staring at us the whole time. But that still remains to be seen. Lol 🤣
Three years is a relatively short amount of time and therefore not long enough to transition someone all that much in regards to Ronnie. He'd long been that way and that was clear from his interactions from other characters. Prior to going into prison he wasn't very into women let alone had a girlfriend which is why Raq almost laughed at the notion of him having one when talking with Snaps and Pops about him being with Julianna. And I definitely agree with your overall point that there were many missed opportunities in Season 3 with the Ronnie character. So much more areas they could've explored but because the actor got hired for another show, that canned that opportunity.

It’s more like unique was healing, overseeing everything in the shadows. I mean we literally see raq kanan and Marvin fleeing after Ronnie clipped, from the perspective of someone spying on them in the shadows. Unique was probably tailing them, waiting for them to lead him to Ronnie. Thing is though, based on what joey saying, thinking from unique or the outsider perspective, he (through the streets) know kanan and Ronnie got a business together, one side of the supply on lock. He know raq still pushing his operation, on the other side. Shit he could be thinking, what if Ronnie was right all along. It’s still fuck Ronnie cause he came at me, but from unique peresepctive, I mean look at all that’s happened. With Ronnie gone now, kanan and raq control the entire heroin and coke operation in all of queens. The Thomas family was pushing from both sides this whole time, at least that’s the way it reads to an outsider. I mean shit that look hella suspect. If I was unique, I’d be thinking these motherfuckers were in on his kill or put the events for Ronnie to want to kill him for sure (raq sleeping with him intentionally to prompt Ronnie to kill him knowing the real history). One thing the writers made sure to they showed their fans was: Kanan said “I’m not who you think I am.” Every knows Kanan as being Deaf-Cons son but Kanan knew detective Howard was his father. I thought that was a good connection.
Breeze is going to have to blow us out of the water. Ronnie killed like Kanan, Ghost and Tommy. He also had the OCD like Ghost among other things. So Breeze would have to be undeniable that he taught them everything and you would notice it without question or even knowing who he is.
I just hope they don't waste Unique character and actually let him reinvent himself as Breeze. aint no one else who could play that role better than him.

I thought it was weird how Lou was so messed up over scrappys death that he got blackout drunk and confessed to his mom. Scrap was a grown man in the drug game and raq killed him. Lou personally shot D-Wiz who was in high school but Lou never went to D Wiz mother or talk about him and maybe it’s because of season 1 when raq and Lou talk to D wiz and he mentions his brother and raq and Lou look at each other like they knew he was a problem
Unique is Breeze. Dressed up in all black and the song at the end is called Cool Breeze Mix. The producers posted a Plane with Breeze name on it before season 3 aired on. D-Wiz brother isn’t a Kingpin drug dealer. Breeze is a Kingpin.

They say that Unique was always supposed to die, so this is a completely new direction that the writers are heading in.... but if Grantham is only leaving because he was cast in a main role in another show.... maybe that was a surprise for the writers as well. So maybe Ronnie wasn't originally supposed to die in S3, and Unique was brought back just to fill the Ronnie role
Y’all really read stuff and get your own conclusion out of it😂😂 Sascha Penn didn’t want Joey to leave, he had plans for him and told him it was a once in a lifetime role, and asked him to stay, even had 50 ask, he wanted to tour and he wasn’t apart of most of season 3 or going to be apart of season 4 at all, but then Joey decided he wasn’t ready to leave the role, and they wrote an out for him in season 3 so he could go on tour and be back in times to film the final episode.

The fact that you brought up Mecca as a missed opportunity is something I HATED about S2 of Ghost, I feel the same as Ronnie but that stare down between Kanan and Raq was worth it

I think Ronnie was supposed to be Breeze because Joey Bada$$ was initially done with the show and he was the replacement for that (not proven but makes sense). But since Joey was convinced to come back they killed Ronnie to make Unique Breeze.
When Ronnie came out of prison, I really believed that in all fairness! That he should have been given his position back! Just like in FORCE with Diamond and Jenard (the fight between the two)! Ronnie left Unique with control! However, power has a way of making people forget how they got that power in the first place!

I'll start. My answers are: (1) possibly-b/c Kanan, Tommy, and Ghost all remind me of Ronnie in their savage sense, and their sociopathic sides... but unless they retcon, he seems a bit old for the role. (2) I'm thinking that could be a great move, especially with it needing to be someone compelling (so, if not him, I think it should be D-Whiz's older brother). Also, he likely won't be the same Unique, this'd be the first time we see Power rebrand a character to THIS extend. Last thing, Kwon/Kwan/Quan mentioned Unique was young, if he's same age as the actor (28), he could be like a big brother to K, who's nearing (if not already 18).
I personally think Nique was always gonna be Breeze. I didn't at first and thought D Wiz brother, but going back to Joey's interview, there's things that make no sense to me and I think it was made to throw us off.
I cannot say for certain if Unique was always supposed to be or not. The writers may have switched up after GC scored his leading role. However, I am almost certain he is now. "Preme was the businessman and Prince was the killer." Breeze is going to be a combination of the notable street figures 50 encountered growing up. Preme is represented by Unique initially. Breeze will be a combination if Black Just, and alledgly, the mind state Preme adopted after Just was murdered in front of him. It changed him. Moreover, Breeze could have learned a lot of methods from Ronnie he is now comfortable employing and will teach his crew.
Another thing to keep in mind is unique is the only other one outside the Thomas family that can connect Raq to D-Wiz’s body so that could be how they bring in breeze if it is his brother
Panessa also kind of gave us a hint at what unique may have been going for with raq…if I remember correctly prior to the season they said Ronnie and unique had been on the same page at the end of the day
Tariq really did take two chess pieces off the board with ghost and kanan. Kanan used the money grab scheme to play Ronnie but had no intentions of taking the money. Tariq actually tried to play ghost for a million. Used Extortion to get 2 million from Mecca. Kanan influence is heavy.
That $500,000 that Raq took from Stefano.. I have a feeling that Ronnie was going to use that money to give to Snaps and Pop. Since Roq took care a Juliana ..
The same thing that happened to Ronnie is the same thing happened to Mecca, Cardier, and Milan. They bringthese characters on so the main characters can kill them.

The one thing that doesn’t make sense is Ronnie showing some love for unique by saying nothing would happen to him. But then literally doing what he did in the sane episode. I get it was a ego blow, and he was enraged but at a certain point he should’ve stopped and definitely not tried getting rid of ubiquitous like that
Grantham did an excellent job playing Ronnie. I wish the writers had more scenes with Ronnie and Raq. Missed an opportunity to learn about their backstory. Furthermore more interactions with Kanan and Ronnie. I did not like the few words between them.

Three years is a relatively short amount of time and therefore not long enough to transition someone all that much in regards to Ronnie. He'd long been that way and that was clear from his interactions from other characters.
Prior to going into prison he wasn't very into women let alone had a girlfriend which is why Raq almost laughed at the notion of him having one when talking with Snaps and Pops about him being with Julianna.
And I definitely agree with your overall point that there were many missed opportunities in Season 3 with the Ronnie character. So much more areas they could've explored but because the actor got hired for another show, that canned that opportunity.

It’s more like unique was healing, overseeing everything in the shadows. I mean we literally see raq kanan and Marvin fleeing after Ronnie clipped, from the perspective of someone spying on them in the shadows. Unique was probably tailing them, waiting for them to lead him to Ronnie. Thing is though, based on what joey saying, thinking from unique or the outsider perspective, he (through the streets) know kanan and Ronnie got a business together, one side of the supply on lock. He know raq still pushing his operation, on the other side. Shit he could be thinking, what if Ronnie was right all along. It’s still fuck Ronnie cause he came at me, but from unique peresepctive, I mean look at all that’s happened. With Ronnie gone now, kanan and raq control the entire heroin and coke operation in all of queens. The Thomas family was pushing from both sides this whole time, at least that’s the way it reads to an outsider. I mean shit that look hella suspect. If I was unique, I’d be thinking these motherfuckers were in on his kill or put the events for Ronnie to want to kill him for sure (raq sleeping with him intentionally to prompt Ronnie to kill him knowing the real history). In other words, unique thinking he been set up, played since the beginning and lost everything to him. Shit he might even be thinking Ronnie was played into being against him. He sees what happened as raqs strategy to set up the brothers, and put on kanan in process pretending to be enemies. Id want to kill kanan for sure. Or at least talk to him to clear it up
One thing the writers made sure to they showed their fans was: Kanan said “I’m not who you think I am.”
Every knows Kanan as being Deaf-Cons son but Kanan knew detective Howard was his father. I thought that was a good connection.

So Breeze would have to be undeniable that he taught them everything and you would notice it without question or even knowing who he is.

They say that Unique was always supposed to die, so this is a completely new direction that the writers are heading in.... but if Grantham is only leaving because he was cast in a main role in another show.... maybe that was a surprise for the writers as well. So maybe Ronnie wasn't originally supposed to die in S3, and Unique was brought back just to fill the Ronnie role

Sascha Penn didn’t want Joey to leave, he had plans for him and told him it was a once in a lifetime role, and asked him to stay, even had 50 ask, he wanted to tour and he wasn’t apart of most of season 3 or going to be apart of season 4 at all, but then Joey decided he wasn’t ready to leave the role, and they wrote an out for him in season 3 so he could go on tour and be back in times to film the final episode.

This show has becoming Power book 3: the rise of Raq. She’s the main character. Times I feel this show isn’t even about Kanan. We’re 4 seasons in and we’ve watched every character story way more than Kanan

I think Ronnie was supposed to be Breeze because Joey Bada$$ was initially done with the show and he was the replacement for that (not proven but makes sense). But since Joey was convinced to come back they killed Ronnie to make Unique Breeze.

Grantham Coleman really was the MVP of this season playing Ronnie with enough menace without overdoing his bully tendencies. Wood Harris' cadence mixed with Bokeem Woodbine's acting style
Grantham Coleman get two thumbs up from me... He murdered that role. You could really tell he is a graduate of Juliard School of Arts.. Can't wait to see him in another production... Be on the look out for "Emporer of Ocean Park" he and Forest Whitaker are the lead roles in that one

I could be wrong, but I don’t think unique is actually alive. If you look back over previous episodes, when Lou saw someone that he unalived they were dressed just like unique.

1. Do you think Ronnie was supposed to be(come) Breeze originally (before Grantham Coleman scored a lead role) and they changed it up a bit?
2. Do you think 'Niq came back in his role because he's going to BECOME Breeze now?
I'll start. My answers are:
(1) possibly-b/c Kanan, Tommy, and Ghost all remind me of Ronnie in their savage sense, and their sociopathic sides... but unless they retcon, he seems a bit old for the role.
(2) I'm thinking that could be a great move, especially with it needing to be someone compelling (so, if not him, I think it should be D-Whiz's older brother). Also, he likely won't be the same Unique, this'd be the first time we see Power rebrand a character to THIS extend. Last thing, Kwon/Kwan/Quan mentioned Unique was young, if he's same age as the actor (28), he could be like a big brother to K, who's nearing (if not already 18).
I think breeze was always supposed be a completely new character and fans just assumed he was hidden which always confused me
I personally think Nique was always gonna be Breeze. I didn't at first and thought D Wiz brother, but going back to Joey's interview, there's things that make no sense to me and I think it was made to throw us off.

I cannot say for certain if Unique was always supposed to be or not. The writers may have switched up after GC scored his leading role. However, I am almost certain he is now.
"Preme was the businessman and Prince was the killer." Breeze is going to be a combination of the notable street figures 50 encountered growing up. Preme is represented by Unique initially. Breeze will be a combination if Black Just, and alledgly, the mind state Preme adopted after Just was murdered in front of him. It changed him. Moreover, Breeze could have learned a lot of methods from Ronnie he is now comfortable employing and will teach his crew.
Another thing to keep in mind is unique is the only other one outside the Thomas family that can connect Raq to D-Wiz’s body so that could be how they bring in breeze if it is his brother
Panessa also kind of gave us a hint at what unique may have been going for with raq…if I remember correctly prior to the season they said Ronnie and unique had been on the same page at the end of the day
Tariq really did take two chess pieces off the board with ghost and kanan. Kanan used the money grab scheme to play Ronnie but had no intentions of taking the money. Tariq actually tried to play ghost for a million. Used Extortion to get 2 million from Mecca. Kanan influence is heavy.
That $500,000 that Raq took from Stefano.. I have a feeling that Ronnie was going to use that money to give to Snaps and Pop. Since Roq took care a Juliana ..
Grantham Coleman definitely made an impact in the Power Universe as Ronnie Mathis. He’s one of the greatest villains ever.
The same thing that happened to Ronnie is the same thing happened to Mecca, Cardier, and Milan. They bringthese characters on so the main characters can kill them.

*If you don't know or no one ever told you, but Ronnie Mathis is, or should I say was, the black version of Jeffrey Dahmer. That was who Ronnie Mathis' character in this season of Power Book III: Raising Kanan season 3 was inspired by. You could even say he was based on the great dead giveaway - look at the way Ronnie Mathis dresses, acts, and talks. He is the black gangster version of Jeffrey Dahmer.*
Raq took that 1 spot and flipped it...just interesting ronnie saw it as nothing, and Raq saw the potential.
They didn’t mention D Wiz brother for no reason until I see him or they just flat out have Unique turn himself into Breeze I can’t just say who Breeze is.
I got a feeling book2 ghost will follow the way unique being the main in each ending of a season now. Brayden saves tariq in the last two and the next season brayden is said to have a very dark path and do some things the fans won’t like, I have a feeling he will backstab tariq setting up a war between them in season 5

The difference between Tariq and kanans relationship and Ronnie and kanans relationship is that Tariq and kanan actually had love for each other to the point where kanan considered Tariq to be the son he never had and didn’t do anything after Tariq set up which is something Tariq still feels guilty about unlike kanan who didn’t fear or respect Ronnie they were just business partners if kanan set up Ronnie the same way Tariq did him Ronnie would’ve probably shot him it’s also interesting that Tariq set kanan up to die while kanan actually killed Ronnie himself

The one thing that doesn’t make sense is Ronnie showing some love for unique by saying nothing would happen to him. But then literally doing what he did in the sane episode. I get it was a ego blow, and he was enraged but at a certain point he should’ve stopped and definitely not tried getting rid of ubiquitous like that

Grantham did an excellent job playing Ronnie. I wish the writers had more scenes with Ronnie and Raq. Missed an opportunity to learn about their backstory. Furthermore more interactions with Kanan and Ronnie. I did not like the few words between them.
