Things are getting hard for everyone, I'm a single mum in Australia and have 3 kids and can only afford a 3 bedroom. As my kids are all over 16yrs old I felt it was important for them to have a room to themselves for privacy, as a result for the past 8yrs my bedroom has been the lounge with a broken lounge as my bed. It's so saggy I have to fill the depression with pillows to make it kind of even. After 8yrs of this my back it completely stuffed but there's just never enough to buy anything better. I just want my kids to be ok even if I'm suffering. Everything's just become ridiculously expensive over the past few years especially, I pay $ 480 per week for a 3 bedroom with no laundry or bath just a shower and it's still the cheapest I've been able to find. Scared for the future...
@AJAY.Dahone he does pay court ordered child support which is 150dollars per week but I'm also disabled and unable to work so with the only other income coming from government support it really isn't enough. The dad pays as much as he can but he's also stuck paying ridiculous rent prices ,he pays 480 per week for a 2 bedroom that doesn't even have a garage only carport and he only gets about 750 per week after tax full time and with my payment taken out it it leaves him with practically nothing either. The problem is the ridiculous inflation in mostly the rental market and also food too. Noone is left with much for anything. 2yrs ago I only paid 290 a week for the same house so you can see how ridiculous the increase has been. That's why I'm so scared for the future as I can only see prices increasing while wages and government assistance basically stay the same, there are so many already homeless and the government has sold of almost all its public housing so people really have no where to turn. Even single people with full time jobs cannot afford to live on their own here any more. Something really needs to be done as it's only going to get worse in the very near future.

As someone who was born and raised in Hong Kong and has lived in Australia for 10 years, I would describe it as a subdivided room. The "coffin room" should be even smaller. Whether it's a subdivided room or a coffin room, it feels cramped. I am lucky growing in mid class family. I wouldn’t want to stay in either type of room for more than a minute. However, I appreciate Spanian for showing the world how poor the living conditions in Hong Kong can be. If you ever come back to Hong Kong you need to try staying at the Buddhist monasteries on Lantau Island… that’ll be something unique you won’t get anywhere else.
There's a movie directed by Wong Kar-Wai set at the exact location he went to, "Chungking Express". Chungking Mansions are quite a notorious place if you're anything familiar with Hong Kong.
I scored some of the best hash I've ever had in Chungking Mansions back in the early 90's. It was from a little German junkie..not usually the guy who you would get anything decent from but, this time it was. A Geordie backpacker I met in a bar was staying in the same hostel and took me there to score. This was my first time to the infamous ChungKing Mansions, you walk from Rolex, neon modern Hongkong into the third world of the Middle East, Africa and Pakistan within one step into the building...the contrast was mind blowing. There's two types of heroin junkies, there's the shifty, untrustworthy, thieving, lying scum bag street rats who steal from their mothers and everyone else and then there's the gentle, reserved junkies who accept their life of smackdom stoically and still maintain being decent human beings despite of it..this little German junkie was the latter. If you've ever seen the movie "Midnight Express" then the German junkie "Max" played so well by Willian Hurt in that movie was a splitting image of this guy who was slinging hash to get by. He, let's call him Max, lived in a run down cheap hostel on the upper floors of CKM in a small grimy room that contained about 6 or 8 bunk beds full of mostly cheapest Charlie UK back packers who were all looked like they were out of money and about to do a belly full of hash runs to Taipei or Tokyo. You could tell Max had been there for a long time, going by the lived in ways things were stuck on the wall, bags hanging down and gear tucked under his bottom bunk bed..and the general junkie hippiness of his bunk. Max's look was pure 70's hippie, flared patched jeans, long hair, wispy mustache, round spectacles, cig on his lips...he searched around behind a poster, in a bag, under the bed, mumbling junkie thoughts to himself, until he eventually located his hash stash, he said it was from Nepal..but it could have come from Xinjiang or Manali...Max probably didn't know and most likely bought it from a fellow backpacking roommate, I only scored a gram because who knows if it was going to be good or crap. I tried it out back at my hotel and instantly realized this was AAA grade hash, it really was the stuff of legends....it was pliable, smelled great and looked like dark honey with a tint of red...I've smoked my whole life in every continent and this was the best I've ever bought. As soon as I was straight enough I went back to buy as much as he had. Max, who was half sitting, half laying, half nodding, collapsed back in his bunk bed as junkies do when I walked in the hostel and he flashed a look of fear when he saw me but was soon cool when he realized I was not followed by ten HK cops and just wanted to buy more. All he had left was an ounce, so I bought it all. I almost never carry bud or hash across borders and I was flying out next day, but in this case, it was just too good not to, so I smuggled it back home and I went out with a few mates that night. 30 years later, they still talk about how good that hash was....the quality of the high was clean, outstanding, uplifting and the memory of Max from ChungKing Mansions hash is still vivid.. I used to do visa trips to HK quite often in the 90's and 2000's but I never scored anything that was even near as good as Max's hash from ChungKing Mansion's again. .Here's a big thank you to Max, I hope he made it out of ChungKing Mansions without getting busted, sick or robbed and lived a long happy, gentle junkie life.
I had similar feelings when I first went to hong kong, then I went into mainland china and going back to hongkong after that was like going to paradise.

Hong Kong is definitely in my top 3 places to DEFINITELY visit one day. The place looks truly amazing and spectacular. I've read a lot about the place, it's such a fascinating place with an amazing history. It was one of the best examples of East meets West when it was under British control, an incredible cultural melting pot. The city at night time looks absolutely stunning.
I was there in June and loved it. It’s probably not big enough to be a lone destination stop especially if you’re flying all the way from Australia but it’s definitely great for a 2-3 day stop. I’ve travelled quite a bit around Asia and the two places that a enjoyed way more than I thought I would are Taiwan and Hong Kong
@UmamiTrauma accommodation is quite affordable if you look around, I stayed at Hilton Garden Inn was around $100 per night. $100 won’t even get you a seedy motel in Sydney

This is where most working class travellers stay due to proximity to the station and night life. I personally lasted 10 minutes, jumped in a taxi to drive around HK for an hour to find there were no hotels as it was Chinese school holiday's, straight up we ended up staying in a broth*l as it was cleaner, the receptionist was ammused, me not so much lol

U could see the pink lights in the background in one of the shots 😂
Great episode man. Thanks for reporting on how people live in Hong Kong. Most of us know of the Ruches. Stay real
I had similar feelings when I first went to hong kong, then I went into mainland china and going back to hongkong after that was like going to paradise.
God bless Spanian. Thank you for the video.
After eating Biryani in Chungking Mansions, you will never be asked to prove your bravery again.

$100 won’t even get you a seedy motel in Sydney
i love this video, it's really cracks me up seeing you trying to survive in Hong Kong coffin, there is no bloody way any human being can be caged up like that man. Society needs to change and the true reality is the Chinese government refuses to do anything about it. this is a very sad story lade! take care bro!
SPANIANNNNN!!! WE NEED MORE BANGKOK/THAILAND VIDEOS
Yesssss
Love you long time
No we don't!!! Bangkok and Thailand is boring always the same we like to see when spanian exploring the world that's what we need bro
@@FREDRIC_VALYexactly. Unfortunately for a lot of Aussies the only 2 places in Asia that they know are Bali and Thailand

Spanian is my new Bald and Bankrupt channel fix ever since he got kicked out of Russia😂😂😂
There's a huge difference between B&B and Spanian.....Bald is just not a nice person, takes the piss and is a creepy prat while the Spanian is happy, funny and nice....who would you rather hang with?
B&B is an absolute creep.
@@GreenIslandWoodworksJ*W
Wow what a shit comparison
@@Gianni-u1f Shalom Gianni!
Btw who is the Jew you're referring to? Is it Bald, Spanian or me?

You deserve it bro.
Tip: rule 1 in filming..keep the frame still..not like " oh look ..(swap camera 1second at a building), turn around again"

Your in Chung king Mansion Spanian. Sham shui po is where the cage houses and hectic shit is going down.
Godbless you brother your journeys
And great videos man❤❤
Live the views....
Excited for you.....take care brother
Love from new Zealand 🇳🇿
Welcome to HK Spanian !
Well worth watching to the end. Another excellent adventure.
I’m sure you made your stay worthwhile.
Love your stuff bro it puts a onsite on how people live
Thumbnail is crazy 😂
its crazy because ive been to Hong Kong many times, absolutely love it! feels very affluent but youre constantly aware that theres people living like that. Too many people in too small of a land.
19:24 bro just lost a tonsilstone 💀
💯 I was just about to say it myself 🤢🪨🤣

I really enjoyed your video, I live in Las Vegas NV but have always wondered about the coffin homes , I've heard of them but it was so neat to actually see you in one. Love it❤❤
