Just change your Shutter speed to 50 when shooting at 30 or 24 fps and 100 when shooting at 60fps and that's all you need to do to shoot NTSC in a PAL country with no flickering issues.
It is a nightmare to edit NTCS and PAL in the same timeline.
what about 120 fps?
@@MichaelBouhnikProductionscan be an issue, but shooting 120 in low light with artificial lights around is going to give you even more issues..... you'll need a fast lens and full frame camera to get decent footage.
@@8dcphoto just upgraded from the R6 to the sony fx3, with prime lenses I should be good with low light... so for 120 fps how should I go about it....
Basically the reason why I wanna shoot ntsc in a pal region is because the h.265 ( high information files with less space taken) isn't available in 25p in 4k on the fx3... only in ntsc 24p 4k
@@MichaelBouhnikProductions beast of a camera still don't understand why Sony put that limitation of control in though, they've been doing that for ages. Can you chose to use H264 and sacrifice the sotrage? You could try a shutter of 1/250 with H264 30fps but you'll be a fair number of frames our of sync so I think you'll still get some flickr/banding.
Amazing. Very simple and so helpful ❤️ thank youuu
Hi Dan, Yes i understand this its kinda like a balanced shutter speed for your lighting with the 25p vs 30p; 24p and 25p are so close that 50hz is great for us in Europe and out the bandwidth for 30p ntsc 60hz, Plus i think there is a voltage switch between 110 volt they use in the USA compared to the vs 240 volt that we use here in Europe that also may confuse things even further, Sorry i do confuse things but it is a strict discipline that we must adhere to remove this dreaded flickering...Great video test Dan and really enjoyed this, Despite some flickering on your last video i did not really notice it as i was more interested on watching the video and the bright lights... Take care Dan and best 73s from the uk...By the way im not sure but i think their used to be Secam i think France still use this video standard today along with China...73s
Sony ZVE1 has a nice feature I have set to the button on my lens- scans the flickering lights and sets shutter speed exactly to eliminate. It really works as well.
It's so frustrating living in a 50Hz country, yet 99% of mobile phone cameras only do 30/60fps recording. Why, I have no idea. You would think that if a camera is capable of recording at 60fps, it should be a doddle for the manufacturer to include a 50fps option.
Thanks alot
Great video and east to understand!

I live in a PAL country. I want to take videos with 120 fps. I make videos of diorama demolished in flood, so I need slow motion. I have a couple of questions. It's appreciated if you answer my questions.
Will my videos get flickering?
There are LED lights in my home studio. Do LED lights help avoid flickering issue?
can I overcome this problem with adjusting shutter speed?
When shooting in 120fps in a PAL country with continuous lights...it should not flicker. I currently live in SpaIn (a PAL country) and I shoot all my videos in NTSC in my studio...there are lights I can use without getting any flickering and lights that I know they will. I have a couple of LED signs and they are supposed to be continuous lights however...they would not flicker in the past...in the past few weeks I started to get some flickering from them (no matter the camera settings...I even tried changing the system to PAL). So my answer to your question if with LEDs we can avoid flickering...is: it depends on the LEDS, probably their quality. That's not something we solve through a different shutter speed. In brief...with continuous lights we will have no problem (I use a Godox SL60W as a key light and many different LED panels that never give me any issue)...with non continuous lights the only solution is to shoot in PAL....wtih faulty LEDS there's no solution.
@@DanFrullani thank you for your answer. It's confusing. I need to try my LED lights. I think they are continuous lights. I have no idea about quality of them.
Some of your friends in their comments below claim that you can fix this problem with adjusting shutter speed.
