Hidden Danger of Raising Pigs in Wooded Pasture

My memory jogged to a comment my father made about pigs / hogs and electric fence.
They would set up a powerful fence with metal wire and use a firm food item such as a fresh ear of corn... a long nail, inserted and a wire to hang the food on the hot wire...
He said they eventually avoid the food hanging on the hot wire.. and the fence itself.
If I had to deal with feral hogs, I would do a double fence.. with about an 8-inch gap between the inside and outside (wild pig side) staggering the lines.
I have seen tv shows where wild crocodiles where being trained away from human areas with a similar method.
It works.
