I use the 4 trigger system for crossings, because if you do two and you put one really far away, the crossing will stay active until the lest car of the train hits that trigger. The 4 trigger system allows you to put two triggers on either side of the crossing, with the purpose of turning the crossing off, and two on either side that are far apart, for turning it on. Its useful for running trains in two directions.

New to trainz, especially the surveyor module. This is a little confusing, but I am a retired electrician of 41yrs, so maybe I can figure it out! Really enjoyed your presentation. Need all the help I can get. Just started my route. From watching a couple of your videos, I would say you have been at it a while! Although incomplete as you stated, I thought they were quite nice! Nice video, I use the 4 trigger system myself so traffic returns to normal easier.
A few others have mentioned that as well. I've never tried that set up myself so maybe I'll mess around and do a follow up video.
That would be good, I live in Australia and our interstate lines usually have the crossing go back up as soon as the last wagon clears the crossing to ease traffic congestion (our trains are 1500 - 1800 metres long)
There's a different traffic stopper on the DLS. It looks like a white box with red stripes on it. I reccomend that one because it doesn't put your road under the ground d

When I attach the road to the ATLS traffic stopper the road keeps going over the tracks instead like yours when you connect the road to the traffic stopper it actually goes with the track like what I did what you did the road with the traffic stopper connected together and it keeps going on top of the track and its at height you put it on
Is it possible to change the bell mesh on the signals to sound and look right? I notice they stand out when I move the signals... along with the crossbuck. So I think it’s saying “hidden feature”... maybe even what they sound like too?
which do you perfer? Atls or RTC? I am getting used to RTC now and enjoy it though I do see a buggy issue with it as it tensds to open and let cars thru when the train is not all the way thru

Can a desired bell ringing pattern be set at an atls crossing for instance the bell rings throughout until the gates go up?
Hey i need a bit of help. So i cant add content stuff to content manager because everytime i click it. It will get me out of the game so i used the Grade Xing RR Crossing and i was wondering does it still work on the Grade Xing?

I have installed 5 crossings pretty much identical to yours, everything works except the traffic stoppers I cant figure out why. Any clues.

Make sure the traffic stopper is actually connected to the road spline
with this you can have unstoppable type stuff happen with the gate time

What if I'm using only grade crossings w/o gates and I have car traffic disabled on my road? Can I omit the traffic stopper from the installation?
Quick question how do you fix the modder faulty cuz I have the same crossing and some of them were molded faulty

I can’t find the atls crossings.
Can you make cars stop at a passive (no signals) crossing in Trainz?
i found somthing in the driver mode where if you hover your mouse over the stopper it will say ctrl right click you that then it says invisible train 1
When I try to increase the height of the road after attaching the traffic stopper, the road will change height by full numbers and not decimals. This is leaving the road above the crossing.

How did you get the Jointed Rail crossings to work? I've downloaded them and tried to get them to work in T:ANE but they keep saying that they're missing dependencies

You can try holding control or shift to change the amount in smaller increments.
Hey AM, should the speed of the train, affect the distance of the triggers to the actual grade crossing? Your demo was great, but that engine, was basically crawling through the crossing intersection ! Thanks, Mark
Yes it does. Depending on your speed limit you have setup on your route, and the area you plan on setting up the crossings at, I would put it out a little further away. Usually for me, I have it farther out at a specific point (after a lot of tests and placing markers) on my main routes. As for my spur lines with speeds around 20mph, I usually place it closer.

Exactly what Fury said. I'm not sure if there's a particular formula for figuring it out other then trial and error but basically the faster the speedlimit the further away you'll want your triggers. Just like in real life, you'll want ample time for the traffic to stop and the gates to go down before the train arrives.

Question can multiple car's go by and it still stay's down because it look's like it's only doing the locomotive.

I'm sorry, I new to the game. You adjusted the "Height" by small increments of the traffic stopper. How did you set that? My game is set at full step increments. Can I adjust this? Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Holding shift or control while adjusting the height allows finer increments.

I guess the main advantage of the ATLS crossing vs the automatic crossings (the built in ones that don't require any setup) is that they look better and have better detail..I'll probably start updating my crossings to the JR crossbucks. It's just like the signals..first I just used the basic ones, now I've been updating to the JR searchlight ones. Thanks for all the videos..I've gotten some great ideas and inspiration from your channel..check some of my videos sometime if you get the chance
Exactly! The advantage of using ATLS crossings are higher detailed crossbucks as well as greater flexibility regarding when the signals are triggered. You can have the engine creep right up to the crossing before it's triggered or have it go off well in advanced. Glad my videos have been an inspiration for you :-)

So how different is it to use this system on double, triple, etc... track crossings?
+Paperpanzer 66 Basically you'll just need to add a pair of triggers to each additional track. Set the frequency to the same number. No need for additional slaves or controllers.
What about the traffic stopper? Do you add one to the other tracks?
Also, what about a crossing on a 45 degree angle? How do you get the traffic to stop before the road there?

I'm kidding about that, but nice tutorial! Didn't realize it could JUST be 1 ATLS slave setup altogether... But hey, usually I sometimes have 2 for a delay for the other crossings to go down, or delay the cars crossing after the gates are going up.
Yes, they will.
Yeah the system is pretty flexible like that and there's a ton more you can do with it. I'll probably be doing a few more tutorials in varying degrees of difficulty.
I tried this in trainz 2010 and it did not work, any explanations for that, just wondering
