I want to thank you for bringing happy memories back. We had a Regina music box which should have left to me but which due to circumstances went to my brother. I played that music box day in and day out. I am now in my 70's and have not heard one since I was in my twenty's. Thank you from the deepest of my heart.
Thanks for sharing it. My neighbour loves Silent Night, so I played this video for her. She also cried at how beautiful it was. I can't imagine how amazing it must've been for those people living 120 years ago to hear something like this.
Gorgeous music box. I always had an interest in music boxes, particularly the older ones. I had a Christmas album with just music box Christmas carols. Listened to it all the time during the season. That was over 50 years ago. I am glad I found you.
I knew that music box wouldn't let you down it always sounds absolutely fantastic lovely tone ! Although my favourite has got to be Ave Maria the arrangement and sound of it playing that took my breath away a few years ago when i first heard it play! Lovely ❤ Thanks for sharing!
This is absolutely beautiful! Thank you for putting this on, I want one, but can't afford to buy one. I am pretending yours is in my house! This lifts your spirits.
Sweet! I've never had pockets deep enough to collect music boxes, but I love 'em! I have an LP of Christmas carols recorded from discs played on a Regina. I note that your mechanics are very quiet compared to my recordings of the Regina (a lot of popping and clicks as the spring winds out). There is an arrangement of Silent Night on my LP that is very similar to this. On yours, the rapid pizzicato notes in the upper range really makes this unique. Very Christmas! Thanks for sharing! Cheers!
Thank you very much for your gracious comments! I had wondered before posting this how it might be received relative to timing being recognized as a primarily Christmas song. Your kind comments and those of others have helped provide the assurance I had hoped for. I'm pleased that you enjoyed it.
Christmas Eve 2020. I really needed to hear this! Simply a sound like you would hear in Heaven! I have a 15.5 Mira and wish I could find this piece. Thanks for posting!
Nice, love it. So many memories... Only one thing though. Was recorded "too high". Volume too high. There's distortion on high pitch notes... Still love it. Thanks for the upload. Appreciated.
Thank you so much for this amazing and cute video. I'm don't know english very well, but i want to say you great thanks for this video! I cry, like a baby!
Christmas music in late April is very unusual - but not for us collectors of mechanical music. If you like, you can post the other christmas discs in November or December this year. Thanks for sharing. Best regards from JochenKopf
Thank you for the nice comments, JochenKopf. I had thought about posting this video later in the year but it just sounded so nice to me and I knew that many people enjoy this song most anytime of year.
Happy Christmas 2020. Don't let the covid insanity ruin your festive season. Our tree went up 1st Nov 2020 as a push back against the people who wish to ruin Christmas.
I'd listen to this all year before I'd listen to one second of the garbage called "modern music". Most of it is not music, it is synchronized noise. And what of all traditional musics- Scots, Irish, Indian, the list is endless- Are they not also modern music? We're listening to this music box today- doesn't that make it contemporary music?

Everybody gangsta till you hear this coming from your attic
"The hell is the dude in the big red suit doing NOW?! SANTA, THE COOKIES ARE IN THE LIVING ROOM FOR THE LAST TIME, RUDOLPH DAMMIT!"
😂🤣 It WILL take you right out of your "safe space" realm won't it? 😆
Thanks for the nice comments. Great to see comments like yours.

This is absolutely beautiful! I have never heard Silent Night on an 18 inch Mira. Thank you for posting. God Bless
Amazing invention which compensated for technology not in existence at the time.
I came across your channel by accident...you have some amazing discs ...the tunes are like nothing I've ever heard ...thank you for sharing these ....
Wow this just sounds so lovely❤️😍🥰🎶🎵
Silent Night like we've never heard it before! Thanks so much for sharing!
Fantastic!! This sounds just like the disc played in the movie, "McCabe & Mrs. Miller, (1971) during the scene in the brothel on the snowy night!

It seems like there's more detail on the discs versus the cylinder music boxes. Very beautiful.
I own one exactly like this music box. It belonged to my great grandfather. I also have some disks, including one very similar to this.
Very beautiful indeed!!!
Thank you for sharing!
Hey, an old comment! Have a notification!

Geeweez!
If they aren't that expensive these days... I'd definitely get one.
amazing. i loved this one.
The music box and the discs including this one are Swiss made (circa 1905) not German.
Thank you!
PERFECT!!!
I'm enjoying this wintry music to cool down from 93-degree heat in San Francisco, CA! 6-11-2019

Eh. The arpeggios at 1:30 remind me a little of the one in Cyndi Lauper's "All Through the Night" th-cam.com/video/ZONKoKIQ9RY/w-d-xo.html
