I read an article this evening from a pro trout guide he was speaking to fishing in the heat and advised it isn’t air temp but water temp tha effects feeding and said if the water temp is above 70 o2 levels drop and it is harder for fish to survive and feeding shuts down. He said if above 70 he finds cooler water to fish. This is a tip that might help save some fish and help others catch more in summer.NRV is always so respectful of the fish he catches. I one for really appreciate that.
That's 100% correct. Often times when water temp reaches 70°+ you need to get out of the slow deep holes and move into the swift current. The faster the current and the more ripples the higher oxygen content can rise. In some cases even ripples can't mix in enough oxygen and it's best to leave the fish alone completely.
What a way to start off a new monday morning with
By watching nrv outdoors video and drinking my coffee. a job well done on catching this nice sized beauties.
Thanks! I hope you have a awesome day!!

You're very welcome
That first fish got off my best friend and I call those long distance release, LDR.
Heck yeah!! I'll have to use that term
Bob Ross the painter, presentation was very relaxing
Thanks!!
Good job creek looks good with that little extra water.
Definitely! It needed it
Another great video!! I’m by no means the world’s greatest angler, and it’s actually quite rare when I do catch a trout(it’s been 4 years) so when I do manage to hook 1 or 2, it’s retained for dinner… that being said, the respect in which you handle fish has always been admirable and should be the gold standard in which people should treat their local catch and release fisheries. Tight lines brother!
Thanks! There is nothing wrong with keeping a few. They are a delicious dinner option. Healthy too
@@NRVOutdoors you’re welcome, and totally agree! A delicious feed of trout is one of life’s greatest meals.
Heading to NC with a pocket full of NRV baits ! Let the MAGIC begin!
Heck yeah! Good luck and have fun
Fantastic content man! Very similar creeks to here in Kentucky. Just ordered me of those creek bugs, and I can't wait to go get 'em wet!
Heck yeah! Good luck and have fun out there
great catch on a very tuff day to fish, keep them coming
Will do! Thanks for watching
I’m in East Tennessee man. We have endless trout streams and I can’t wait to order some of your lures to try out!
Heck yeah!!
Might have to try some of those lures
Definitely! You won't be disappointed
Love your videos and the products you sale.
THANKS!!
Great as always
Thanks!
Great video as always, yours is one of my favorite channels, I love your skill and your cheerful attitude.... Question, I'm interested in ordering some of those baits from your website and I noticed one of the scents listed is trout candy ( grape), and I was wondering how effective that scent is, I know that anise is a good fishing scent, and garlic, but I've never heard of grape being a good one, and which do you think is the best, can't wait to get my hands on some of your lures to fish.
The grape is a fantastic option for the minnow patterns. It is actually half grape half shad. The shellfish is ideal for the grubz & bugz and garlic pairs up with everything nicely
Another great video. Do you use mostly unscented bugz or scented
Unscented
My favorites are the ones where there are 10 piled in a hole Be sure to film a few more of those. 🤣
Those days can be crazy but I enjoy fishing the crowds from time to time
I’m sure you were in heaven back in March at Cherokee 😂
Another great video cheers
Thanks!
Hi Mr NRV. I understand that each of us has our favorites and our comfort zone. You seem most comfortable and confident with the micro jigs and micro plastics. I've seen you occasionally throw an inline spinner, but I've never seen you try a mini crankbait....like a Rapala.
Any reason ? Although I primarily fish for bass, those Rapalas are primarily designed for trout.
Thanks
Ive got a couple of videos using different cranks. Trout magnet cranks, rapala cd3's & the most recent was biggfishlures trout cranks. It's definitely time for another video using something similar!! Thanks for watching
I think there were some older ones with rebel cranks like a craw and crick hopper too.
Do you fish cripple creek often??
Not as much as I used too but I still do occasionally
@@NRVOutdoors going to Cedar springs next Wednesday. Are they as good or worse than Blue springs?
@@lukezona9211 Some would say better but I think they are very similar.
What little tackle box is that
Plano double sided box.
I noticed several fishermen holding the line like that. What purpose does that serve
It's a habit you pick up from fishing small creeks where it's pretty much impossible to cast. You just kinda pitch it and after you do it a while you get pretty damn accurate. It also helps you feel bites better because you're holding the line and not just the rod.
So glad I got notifications now I can always be first lol
Heck yeah!!
New sub ! Liked 🙏👏
Thanks!
All that switching hands with the rod seems a little odd to me. Why don't you use a left hand reel?
It's just what feels best. I've done it for 20+ years
This is where
Crooked Creek wma in Woodlawn VA
Why do you "tyros" cast and retrieve with your right hand ? If you are right handed, casting is easier right handed, but switching the rod to retrieve leaves a gap both on the cast, and on the take up where if a fish takes the bait/lure they get a "get out of hook free", because of a lack of hook set potential. Learning to reel in left handed is not that difficult.
Same issue with baitcasting. I just prefer fighting fish using my left hand
@@NRVOutdoors I see. Did not expect that the dominant hand would take a back seat in the most critical part of fishing. Landing the fish.
I am right handed and have a backward set up on my spinning reel. I started in ponds with Zebco (right hand crank) as a kid and learned reel with my right hand and I guess when I switched to spinning gear it just stuck reeling with the right hand even though I’m right handed my spinner is backward handled
@@robgilbert4556 Have you ever tried to retrieve left handed? It allows you to keep a firm grip on the rod for hook sets on regular strikes as well as quick strikes. And for the "young" thing, when you were young you needed diapers, so does that mean you still need them now ? Hardly. Time to learn son.
